MTBill Posted November 22, 2017 Share Posted November 22, 2017 If you look around the AFC, the Bills are not the only team struggling right now. Teams which were all supposed to be shoe-ins for the playoffs have been faltering. This team does not have the talent right now to take advantage of it. I think we still could get 2-3 (Ind, Mia, maybe mia) wins the rest of the way if they pull themselves together, but that won't cut it. This is turning out to be the worst November ever in Bills history. 3 straight blowouts and a team seemingly in a tailspin, a few hundred feet from the side of a mountain. I guess the light in the tunnel right now is the Giants were able to beat KC - so it is perhaps possible if they reverse course. Or maybe we won't get blown out - a 9-7 loss right now would feel better than these prior 3 debacles. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

FLXbillsmafia Posted November 22, 2017 Share Posted November 22, 2017 No doubt. The AFC is as weak as any conference in recent memory. Are the Jaguars really any better than the 2014 Bills? Maybe their defense is slightly better, but Bortles is no better than Orton IMO. Yet, the Jags will probably win 11 or 12 games, looking at their schedule. I also don't think this years' Steelers are any better than their teams in the past. But they will probably go 13-3 because the AFC is so darn bad. The AFC sucks. I know it is a pipe dream, but what the hell else do we have? Like the Ravens getting to play Oakland and Green Bay without Carr and Rodgers. No way they win those games otherwise. But yeah, Bills have had some things slip in our favor. Seemed to me like they had the opportunity to go 8-8 or maybe 9-7 and even if they made the playoffs be ejected efficiently the minute they played a decent team. That's not a huge missed opportunity, IMHO. I saw the four Super Bowls. It's hard for me to get excited over a one-and-done playoff appearance. I want them to be a consistently good team, a team that has a shot at competing for a championship most years. Less than a legitimate chance at a title doesn't mean much to me. I knew that we had new coaching staff and nobody really believed in Tyrod, so I expected a down year. Then the wife surprised me with tickets to the Denver game. 10.5 hours drive each way and I was drinking the kool aid at 2-1 and looking back, it was set up for heartache as a Bills fan. They stole a couple sure losses where they were outmatched from scrimmage and turned them into wins with defensive TDs. one great thing about the 16 game season is the playoff type rosters rise to the top eventually. Bills don't have a playoff roster, they have a rebuilding roster going through evaluations at the hands of a new coaching staff and front office. This is just one long preseason as far as I am concerned, which is why I haven't paid too much attention. When Pegs blew it all up, I pretty much flipped the calendar to 2018. But what REALLY hurts the most... Somehow Sean McDermott has already lost the locker room. After only 9-10 games as the coach. The players have clearly quit on him. It's not just us "getting exposed" or us struggling with the trading our top talent. The last three games, we have seen an obvious and alarming lack of effort. This is the NFL. The vast majority of games are close. Nobody gets embarrassed like this 3 weeks in a row (two against opponents with losing records), unless there is something else going on. The proof is all there. It's not technique. It's not mental lapses. It's not stupid mistakes. Teams are simply lining up, man-to-man and utterly destroying us. Defensive players aren't flying to the ball anymore. They aren't even trying to tackle the ball carrier, or trying to get off blocks. Both lines are getting physically manhandled on every snap. All these signs point to our guys not giving 100%. Despite what some fans are whining and crying, this team has talented players. I'm just convinced most of these guys just aren't trying. I'm not sure what caused it.
