Are there any racist institutions? How and why.

If anyone is looking for a good book recommendation on this subject, I highly recommend “The Sum of Us” by Heather McGhee.

Her most poignant example is how we used to have great public works programs like beautiful public pools, but when they had to be integrated, we filled them in rather than share them.

Your right liberals suck, of course your side cheered filling in the skate parks during Covid because they did not benefit the old folks despite it damaging the young kids greatly. Your side is the one that propels one side vs another based on demographics not character

I will dumb it down, liberals shut down the pools then and have only changed who their favored demographic is going to be

Are we talking about the book I recommended or have you hit the pipe pretty hard tonight?

I heard the Governor was pressured by BLM not to teach about MLK, because King was a fan of the Constitution, the Founding Fathers, and individual liberty…😉

You heard that? Oh really? You sure it wasn't the Klan saying that?

Racist grifters have to grift.

The Southern Poverty Law Center — always looking to fundraise off of a tragedy — weighed in.

The mass shooting at Club Q in Colorado Springs, which saw a 22-year-old man charged with hate crimes and murder on Monday, came after years of intensifying anti-LGBTQ rhetoric, acts of violence and intimidation, and discriminatory legislation from far-right individuals and groups, including powerful Republican politicians.

Sadly some posters here, like BillStime, Tibs and yes, even ChiGoose will look at this and believe it to be true when it is anything but.

What eras of history are they teaching K-5?  Do you know?

All of the names on the left are from the Civil War and on back.

If you're teaching about the Civil War, the founding of the country, the discovery of America, and Egyptian history, why would MLK come up?

How and why:

Your argument is amazing, they need to fix Jackson, but not by replacing the incompetent people but by giving the incompetent people more money. True democrat logic from Billsy.

Oppose pornography in school libraries? You're "uptown Klan," says SPLC

April 20, 2023

Do you think parents should have a say in their children’s education, that kids shouldn’t be judged according to the color of their skin, that parents should know if their children say they identify as transgender, or that books with explicit sexual images should be removed from school libraries?

If so, you represent a threat to civil rights tracing back to the “Uptown Klans” of white Southerners trying to maintain segregation after the Supreme Court’s landmark 1954 ruling in Brown v. Board of Education, according to a researcher with the Southern Poverty Law Center writing for the National Urban League.

[Yet another data point in the avalanche of reasons that no one should take the SPLC seriously, or the National Urban League. They’re using accusations of bigotry to stop debate on any part of the progressive agenda, a malicious and intellectually bankrupt strategy. Any public agencies relying on either organization should cut ties with them ASAP.

Because Hate always loses in the end.

Why SPLC’s days may well be numbered.

The Southern Poverty Law Center was, for quite a while, the absolute definitive source for hate groups in the United States. They typically focused on actually racist organizations like neo-Nazi groups or the KKK.

However, a while back, they slowly began broadening out. They started labeling any group with conservative values as hate groups.

And they got away with it, too, because the courts seemingly protected the SPLC.

Now, though, it looks like that’s not happening anymore.

{snip}

Now, this is big. No case has gotten to the point of discovery, which means the opportunity presents itself to see how the SPLC sausage gets made.

Moreover, though, the SPLC defended its classifications by saying that it’s opinion, thus it cannot be considered defamation. While opinions are protected speech, the SPLC has never presented its categorization of groups as “hate groups” as opinions before, and I’m unconvinced that they viewed it as such, either.

I’m not saying that DIS will win this lawsuit, but I find the defense of hiding behind the declaration of organizations as hate groups merely being opinion interesting.

If it’s really just a bunch of lefties’ opinions, then what good does the group actually do?

Shocking Legal Victory: Conservative Group Strikes Back at Deceptive SPLC

979ddc7a-ed44-4cdd-be3e-f17b89deb16c-450

The Southern Poverty Law Center, despite having a noble origin story, has become an authoritarian leftist hack job of an organization. It has gained prominence by deceptively adding conservative organizations to its list of “hate groups.”

Over the years, the group has faced much criticism for brazenly lying about conservative individuals and organizations to score cheap political points. Nevertheless, they continue trying to deceive the American public.

A conservative organization, the Dustin Inman Society, has achieved a significant legal victory against the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) in a defamation lawsuit, according to a report from the Daily Signal. The SPLC has a history of branding mainstream conservative and Christian organizations as “hate groups,” often resulting in dismissed defamation lawsuits due to the high legal threshold of proving “actual malice.”

However, in this case, District Judge Keith Watkins denied the SPLC’s motion to dismiss the defamation claim, allowing the case to move forward to the discovery phase. This marks the first time an organization accused by the SPLC has reached this stage in challenging the “hate group” accusation. Despite the importance of this development, most left-leaning legacy media outlets, including The New York Times and The Washington Post, have ignored the story.

{snip}

Despite the media ignoring this situation, this is a significant story. The SPLC has managed to falsely label run-of-the-mill conservative organizations as being akin to the Ku Klux Klan for years. It has almost certainly damaged the reputations of many of these groups, and the group will probably continue as long as it is not being held accountable. Perhaps this lawsuit might just lead to that outcome.

FASCISM, STRAIGHT UP:

Corrupt Bedfellows: SPLC and FBI Working Together to Frame Catholics as Terrorists.

IMG_2766.thumb.jpeg.5f584dcd8b11c2b2fca298d523629f17.jpeg

The Biden regime’s staggeringly corrupt FBI has spies in Catholic Churches to hunt for “domestic terrorism,” and now it has come to light that aiding it in the dirty work of framing pro-life Catholics as dangerous “extremists” is none other than the massively discredited Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which uses its immensewar chest to stigmatize and demonize legitimate groups on the Right by lumping them in with the likes of the KKK and neo-Nazis.

For a wealthy and unscrupulous private organization to do that is one thing, but for the feds to endorse it and partner with that organization is quite another.

Clearly the MSM- did you know winning the Stanley Cup means more if you are of native heritage? It is not like they will be the first or anything but it still makes it more special than anyone else, ya know, because.

I just remember Montour was nothing to write home about with the Sabres and suddenly became extremely productive when traded to the Panthers.  I believe he was less than enthusiastic about being traded to Buffalo and sandbagged it to get out.  But given how bad that team was I don't blame him.
