Trump and Russia

Recommended Posts

Oh, is this why Trump is so angry with Dan Coats?

No wonder more than a few of you guys disappeared that day! Busted!

The U.S. military blocked Internet access to an infamous Russian entity seeking to sow discord among Americans during the 2018 midterms, several U.S. officials said, a warning that the Kremlin’s operations against the United States are not cost-free.

The strike on the Internet Research Agency in St. Petersburg, a company underwritten by an oligarch close to President Vladimir Putin, was part of the first offensive cyber campaign against Russia designed to thwart attempts to interfere with a U.S. election, the officials said.

“They basically took the IRA offline,” according to one individual familiar with the matter who, like others, spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss classified information. “They shut ‘em down.”

The operation marked the first muscle-flexing by U.S. Cyber Command, with intelligence from the National Security Agency, under new authorities it was granted by President Trump and Congress last year to bolster offensive capabilities.

Whether the impact of the St. Petersburg action will be long-lasting remains to be seen. Russia’s tactics are evolving, and some analysts were skeptical of the deterrent value on either the Russian troll factory or on Putin, who, according to U.S. intelligence officials, ordered an “influence” campaign in 2016 to undermine faith in U.S. democracy. U.S. officials have also assessed that the Internet Research Agency works on behalf of the Kremlin.

On Michael Cohen and our times:

How often do we see someone, fresh from pleading guilty to lying to Congress, receive such a welcome by Congress?

To be believed by the very lawmakers he pleaded guilty to lying to?

Michael Cohen has been disbarred

You did it Tibs! I'm sure you are right! You figured out the secret key to it all.  I guess Mueller can wrap it up, toss Trump in jail, and we can all go home and forget about anything else.

I'm relieved it's finally over.

whack-a-mole.

We'd be a lot better of if people followed the old Ben Franklin saying “Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see.”

Jordan & Meadows: Democrats put out welcome mat for a liar. We can't trust Michael Cohen.

The Cohen hearing will be a partisan circus meant to destroy Trump. We'll ask about Cohen's crimes and why he's getting a forum to avenge his grudge.

A proven liar providing testimony against a proven liar.  Just pointless.

today should be interesting. Cohen is scheduled to testify in public and the word is that he is going to accuse Trump of crimes and misdemeanors.

It will only be meaningful if there’s corroboration. He may not be lying but his credibility is crap.

Is Trump a boor? Does he lie? Did he commit some election campaign violations?  Yes to 2 of 3 but for the third,  it will take more than liar Cohen’s words to make this worth much.

Still, it will make for an entertaining ring in the circus.

His corroboration based on his written remarks is pretty weak and if this is his best punch, Trump will be fine. Trump lies all the time and his base doesn’t care.

That's not unexpected. Being convicted of a felony is automatic disbarment. The decision to disbar him will be retroactive to the date of his plea.

I wonder what that does to attorney-client privilege between Cohen and Trump. I’m sure the President hasn’t waived it.

If privilege is in place, then much of the juicier parts of Cohen’s testimony is useless except to smear his former client.

Privilege does not go away. However, if Cohen ignores it, what are they going to do, double-disbar him?

Of course, if he ever wants to apply for readmission down the road, he'll behave himself.

They really need to look up the meaning of words like anarchy and socialism.

The Resistance is Everything They Accuse Trump of Being
American Thinker, by Jim Daws

Original Article

The defining characteristic of today’s Democrats is that most unattractive of human failings, hypocrisy.

Since Donald Trump’s improbable election, Dems and their media mouthpieces have been demanding that the rest of us recognize the existential threat he poses to the nation. Their demands are based on a litany of accused authoritarian character traits and fascistic conduct that Trump obviously doesn’t hold and in fact never committed. The reality is the Democrats are projecting -- accusing Trump of the very outrages that they themselves practiced in their obsession to prevent and then overturn his election.

What's interesting is that the Dems finally get the House back, and  the only thing they can do is embrace a guy who already lied to Congress, vote to kill babies who were born of botched abortions, promote socialism as the only way forward, and hold up a 29-year-old bartender as the leader of their bench.
