They were worried about announcers getting confused because of the same last name? Even if Alexander DID outplay him, wouldn't he still have great value as a backup, vs outright cutting him? If this was a money saving/cap thing... then I think it's a dumb move. Who's going to set the edge? If this was more about off the field risks we don't know about.. then fine.
