Pressure for a new building or anyone think this is for real? Does this put the pressure on for Buffalo and any other small market to upgrade?

Buffalo can't face pressure because the ownership has no interest in moving. That's all that matters. With that being said, I would expect a new stadium at the end of this lease.

Yes. And yes.

Correct. Buffalo is never getting a SB. This is not an indictment of Buffalo given I was born and raised there and my best weekend of the year is taking my boys to the game along with we made it up to 18 relatives going together this year.

Guys in Tampa, we've had a bunch of SB and these corporate types are not going to Buffalo in February. Not in the Taj Mahal of dome stadiums. Besides for regular guys like us, who cares about a SB in your city. It clogs up traffic, your priced out of anything interesting, and simply not worth it.

Buffalo doesn't have the hotels or the other parameters so this lure of a stadium is BS on getting a SB.

Bottom line is we'll get a new stadium after the lease, and it will probably be down in the 1st ward, and linked into Pegulas other investments. Makes sense although I would hate not having the OP for tailgating.

I like and support the Vegas idea. They would still draw fans from California (less than a 1 hour flight from LA or San Fran) plus the local population plus all the visitors that flock to Vegas. In fact, Vegas is perfect for the NFL.

I think that Southern California will be a disaster within a span of 5 years for the Rams and/or Chargers, the fans, and their respective owners. There will be low attendance (ala Jacksonville) due to abhorrent traffic (LA has 24/7 traffic ... really really bad traffic all the time, I used to live there), stifling cost to the fan (tix and parking), cost of living for players will increase 3-4x what they were paying ..... and low revenues for owners. Building a new stadium in SOCAL will cost well over 2 bil due to the cost of building in that state plus requirements to use union workers.

I respectively disagree with "plus all the visitors that flock to Vegas." I don't think people would want to give up a whole day of their Las Vegas trip for an NFL game. Even less so if you can see one at home. Tickets will probably be exorbitant. Like most NFL tickets, you will have buy them months in advance. Much easier to get tickets to a show. Based on your quote, why would all these "visitors" even root for the Raiders when they probably already have a fav team? I don't think Las Vegas and the NFL go together. They wouldn't really even have a true "home" crowd.

I also disagree with your prediction that attendance will be low in LA. Outrageous, my friend! It'll be a hot ticket. I bet every home game will be sold out. And it doesn't matter if it costs $2B. It will get built. I'm familiar with the Hollywood Park area where the stadium will be built and it is at the intersection of two major freeways and is easy to get to.

I don't think the Pegulas feel pressure and act on what is in best interest for them and the team.

Would love the Raiders to move there, would just feel right.

One unfortunate thing about Las Vegas would be how the hotels would jack up the prices on home game weekends, very similar to major fight weekends. When something big is going on in Vegas, Vegas hotels charge big $!

Buffalo will never see a Superbowl unless that stadium in on the falls and Buffalo builds about 30 more hotels. Pittsburgh build their new stadium and the NFL laughed at them when the Rooney's asked for Pittsburgh's turn to reap some awards...... I dont see it happening unless its roof is controllable or a dome. Too cold, too much wind and snow.

There are worse places for a NFL team than Vegas. Seems like it could work. And it would be a great destination for fans of the road teams. I think that would help them fill the stadium week to week.

Agreed. & with all the money in that city thru the Casinos & such I don't think selling corporate suites for big time money would ever be a problem. You know every Casino is going to want to have their own suite if for nothing else than to give it away on game days to their high rollers.

  • 2 weeks later...
Mark Davis will reportedly commit to a Las Vegas move if stadium financing approved this week. This Thursday, Raiders owner Mark Davis will be attending a meeting with Las Vegas officials where they will discuss financing of a new stadium there.

right? It's basically like Jets/Giants at MetLife

I don't know why the Raiders & 49'ers refuse to share Levi's Stadium.

I would imagine Oakland has a little brother complex when it comes to the other city by the bay and has no desire to share anything with S.F.

Raider fans are a different breed all together which only increases the animosity especially when you factor in the Niners were there first.

The Niners probably consider themselves in a league of their own and don't won't little brother messing up their cool new digs anyway.

In New Jersey they at least pretend to be New York teams.

That could be it.

It's incredibly silly, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Sharing Levi's Stadium would be the best and most logical option.

It is surprising Goodell and the owners are open to Vegas, but if so, and the city will build an incredible stadium for Davis, I don't see why not move there.

Every city realizes what dolts they were about two years after they lose a team. Thankfully for the Chargers, they were creative on how they raised funds. The citizens basically have no tax hit as it is hotel tax increases basically for visitors. San Diego gets so many conventions, the corporate traveler pays the hit or specifically his company. I travel,a lot for work, and never ceases to maze me how many other hotel taxes are tacked onto the room rate in some cities. My company pays for it so nt a big deal to me, but it is substantial.

Viva Las Raiders. It would be pretty cool to go to a Bills/Raiders game in Vegas. Of course, I would be so hung over by the time I made it to the game on Sunday. My liver hurts just thinking about it.

Making a commitment to move from Oakland to Vegas. No big deal at all. Sure thing!

He has been saying this for months. He was happy to go to LA as well. And San Antonio (recall "http://a.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=/i/headshots/nfl/players/full/13197.png&w=350&h=254).

In his own words..."We don't have a lease right now at the Oakland Coliseum," Davis said. "America, the world is a possibility for the Raider Nation."

If San Antone called him up today and said we have complete financing for a new stadium right now, Davis would announce he was moving there.

In Las Vegas, the Raiders envision a home base that would enable them to tap into the furthest reaches of their fan base. Las Vegas would be their primary market, but its elements as one of the most popular destination points in America would be the magnet they use to draw in Raiders fans and season-ticket holders from across the country.

Is Las Vegas motorcycle gang friendly?
