zow2 Posted September 10, 2015 Share Posted September 10, 2015 I posted this somewhere else, but isn't the situation with TT exactly what you would ideally hope for in developing a talented but raw QB? Four years in a superb organization with great coaching, backing up an excellent QB, while experiencing the playoffs consistently and earning a Super Bowl ring. This is the blueprint -- if you have the time to let it happen. Did the Bills finally, as Ralph used to say, "get lucky" with their QB? I think the Bills are getting very fortunate here...maybe a little lucky too. I watched TT all 4 years in Baltimore preseason games. He always tore it up in preseason. Great stats. This year was nothing new for him. It's just that Flacco never got injured and no one ever got to see TT perform in a meaningful game. TT must have been burning up inside watching guys like Thad Lewis get to start NFL games while he was warming the bench. Anyway, here we are now. No one really knows how TT will perform with full game plans designed to stop him. That's exciting though. He could be another Russell Wilson for all anyone knows?!? We do know he's fast, has a great arm, seems pretty accurate, has great pocket presence, knows when to get out of bounds and slide, commands the huddle, gets praised for his leadership style, etc.. I forget where I read it, but someone wrote about how quarterbacks coming out of college have become less and less prepared for the NFL based on the simplicity of the offenses being run at the college level. The writer even speculated that in the future, teams would draft a QB and do exactly what happened here. After the first 4 games of the season, I think we'll know. If they're 4-0 or 3-1, then I would say yes. I say yes, because I don't think the Bills are going to win versus either Indy or New England without scoring some points. I love our defense and they played great last year, but still allowed 20+ points in half of their games. If this team is 2-2 or worse, then definitely not. With all of the offensive improvements on this team, he has to be better than a nearly 0.500 Kyle Orton last year. It was a recent Wall Street Journal article. I've decided to be excited again anyway, mostly because I'm excited by what Roman brings to the offence and I think Tyrod will become very rich in 2-3 years because of his OC. I have a feeling that this may be the guy. He looks poised and in control. He has freakish athletic ability. We finally have an NFL caliber coaching staff. Thanks Terry. Not sure where we end up, but it's great to finally have an organization that is trying and working their a$$ off. Did anyone catch the bit from John Murphy's interview of David Lee where Lee claims Taylor has a photographic memory, to go with everything else? People are not to going to pass on the Jameis Winstons and Marcus Mariotta's in the draft in favor of signing former 6th round draft picks who haven't started a game in four years. Each team had a decent defense, qaulity special teams and dominated the post season in their first year with their respective team. (Dilfer signed with the Ravens in 2000 from TB, won the Super Bowl and moved onto Seattle in 2001.) But here, at last, we have what would appear to be an ideal situation for a new QB: - A good offensive coordinator who has developed young QBs in the past - An impressively solid set of skill position players for support - A system set to emphasize the run and take pressure off the QB - A decent (it appears) offensive line - A powerful, elite defense to (hopefully) create opportunities and prevent shootouts - A young, smart, talented, but inexperienced QB who sat and learned behind an entrenched starter for 4 years in a good offensive system I mean, how much more could you ask for, aside from an additional inch or two of height? Rubes, it is not impossible for TT to actually change the way the game is played. Sounds crazy, no? Look, we are Bills fans. He might also tank but I sense that he will not. He has been called by experts the fastest qb in the league. From the little I have seen of him, I can clearly tell that he can see openings to run through. If he can be a GOOD (not great) passer he is going to be VERY tough to defend, especially given the weapons at his disposal. Coaching of course will matter big time. AND a vet who's been around and could also be productive. It's kind of nice. I just hope we can get something for them when the backups eventually leave haha.
