I know he mentions the top FAs, but I'm surprised he didn't mention that the Bills should try to re-sign Carrington? He also focuses on LT, and says the Bills don't need. They do need a RT, and he brings this into the equation only wrt cap savings.

I think the Bills should focus on their own first--Byrd, Chandler, Carpenter, and Carrington, then maybe bring in at least one OL (RT or G) and a LB. This would give them the most flexibility in the draft.

Didn't we just re-sign Carpenter? If not, he deserves a contract extension, even with a draft choice in the M*A*S*H* unit.

No, they re-signed Moorman. I saw something that kind of gave me the impression that Carpenter might not be the easy signing that you would expect a kicker to be. He said he would be fine competing for a job (reference to Dustin Hopkins?), but then also kind of talked a bit about how his wife would have some say in the decision, and he would be waiting to see what his options are, once free agency starts. Kind of makes me a little nervous, never once did he say he would "love to come back to Buffalo", or anything like that. I may be reading too much into it... the Bills did draft Hopkins. It seems like drafted kickers, many of them who have turned into terrific kickers, seem to have difficulty sticking with the team that drafted them. Even Janikowski in Oakland had a pretty rough first few seasons...but he was drafted so high, Oakland wouldn't dare cut him on a whim.

I wouldn't mind going after McCown. He was fairly impressive in spot duty and the Bills need the veteran QB presence. Plus it would be a breath of fresh air around here to have a traditional pocket passer.

I would be willing to bet that McCown returns to Chicago. He has been around long enough to realize, sometimes if you find yourself in a good spot, you shouldn't tamper with it. He doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who thinks he needs to be a starter somewhere...he and Cutler and Trestman seem to have a great working relationship. Also, I understand the longing for a pocket passer, but the Bills, while employing mobile QB's, haven't really made that a big part of the offense...it is nice to have it as an option, however. I know it isn't exaclty the same, but remember how good Todd Collins, the perenial clip-board holder looked when he got his second starting shot in Washington? He parlayed that into a nice contract to back-up Cutler in Chicago, and was terrible.

id like to get byrd done first and chandler/carrington if the price is right. the one player id really like is kenny britt. he will probably pretty cheap and on a incentive based deal so it should be a boom or bust cheap option.

also a guard or RT would be solid. don't need the top options at the position but mid level guys like schwartz type of OL

I would like to see the front office kick the tires on Anquan Boldin, Riley Cooper, and Dennis Pitta.

You think after being in the playoffs for so many years, Anquan Boldin will want to come to BUFFALO? With a San Francisco win today, he has a chance to play in his third Super Bowl in 8-9 years.

No chance he wants to come play for the Bills. He would probably retire before he contemplated that idea.

I do, however, like the idea of the other two...rather find another WR than Riley Cooper, though. (preferably in the draft.)

I'm curious about Worrilds. I don't know how well he'd fit the position currently manned by Moats and Bradham, but He's spent the last 4 years developing in Pittsburg to where he's just recently become an asset in their defense. Given the Whaley - Pittsburgh connection and the Steelers cap issues it might be possible. It would be nice to poach a player after another team has spent the time bringing them up to speed for a change rather than the other way around.

Zero chance be returns to Chicago. Chicago can only give him the veterans minimum due to the contract they signed to him last offseason. He's getting more than that.

I'm intrigued by Ben Tate and Jason Worilds. Both are solid players, but not big-name guys

May get flamed and trolled for this, but I honestly think Jonathan Martin could be a good pick up. I don't have a link right now but some sources have said that Martin will be unlikely to play for the Dolphins again. If he comes back to football, I'm sure he'd relish the opportunity to play again his former teammates. I also doubt many teams would look into him seriously. Martin was average during his tenure with the Dolphins. I do recall him being a great run mauler in college, and would consider him at RT (if nothing, would provide cheap depth.) He still has quite a bit of potential, and having depth on the OLine is not a bad thing if we get rid of Pears

I would love to sign Dennis Pitta & Spikes. We should also offer Britt an incentive laden contract.

After that take Watkins or Evans with our first rd pk. Then grab 2guards in 2nd & 3rd rounds. 2nd rd either Cyril Richardson or Gabe Jackson. 3rd rd David Yankey from Stanford. Let Pears and Hairston battle it out for RT spot. Keep the loser for depth. U can never have enough lineman.

These are some realistic possibilities that would make us instant contenders in AFC east.

Britt is too unreliable off the field. They can do better.
