Sounds too like at 30 a better chance at getting a much better DT and edge too.

Bills choose not to tender Morris
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Dablitzkrieg's topic in The Stadium Wall
They have Davidson. question is, can he block at all to fill the blocking TE role. Probably for the Bills less important as Anderson as the 6th OL fills the blocking TE role. Knox also has become a pretty good blocker too and if they resign Hollins, he also is a very good blocker. -
Jets planning to either trade or release Devante Adams
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to UKBillFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't think I'd go quite that far. I think it's more of a case of his "friends" i.e. Rogers happens to be a really great QB and even Carr and him had chemistry. IMO if the Bills were interested in him, think he'd come here to play with Allen. But would be surprised if the Bills are that interested. Conversely there's a good chance he does follow Rodgers as if a team promises Rogers they'll sign Adams, Rogers may sign quicker and Adams doesn't have a great track record so likely not too many teams would be interested. -
Does Dion Dawkins make the Wall of Fame
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
Simply more years. Think his level of play and community involvement warrants inclusion, just needs a few more years of playing. My vote would be if he plays out this full contract and if he were to leave on good terms, he'd make it further down the road. -
Free Agents we like for the 2025 Bills?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Desert Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Why would I want to sign a guys who likely will be looking to become one of the highest paid WR in the game and wants to show he's a number 1 receiver? The Bills need a WR who can separate better and has better speed and can catch the ball when it's thrown to him. But doesn't need to be elite either as the Bills passing game is one of the top 10 in the league. If Higgins were here and gets 60 to 70 receptions a season, it likely means the other players on the team will get around 50 less receptions combined. -
NFLPA Team Report Cards out - Bills are 23/32
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
Reading some of the responses here is somewhat debatable whether a 747 can land in Buffalo too. Likely this response will get a responses from the camp that states you can land it, but then the ones who said you can't will reply again to them. -
Packers open to trading CB Jaire Alexander
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Dablitzkrieg's topic in The Stadium Wall
I was being a bit sarcastic WRT Elam, but my point is the key starts up front to getting better. But do think Elam and everyone in the secondary would look much better with higher pressure on QB. -

You put elite pass rushers on the line and Elam could look Elite in the secondary! -

Do they have planes built like that available for charter? While NFL teams may make a ton of money its still much harder to justify buying or paying to have a plane setup for this for a total of maybe a dozen trips a year -
Add to that, having Cook back there or Johnson or Davis makes the passing game more effective too. When you have a top level great QB, the need to a #1 WR drops way off. Add a top level WR, the offense may generate a few hundred more yards but if the new guy gets 1400 yards, it means someone else(s) is getting around 1000 yards less.
-
Doubtful. They haven't done that the past few years. When you factor in how much they went with 6 O-line makes having an extra WR kind of pointless. Add to that, they were expected to go with 2 TE's much more than they did. Likely the reason they did not was due to Kincaid having the torn PCL that was not known to anyone outside. Overall the team was most effective being more balanced and also passing out of the 6 O-line formation and with a RB on the field. There's no need for 6 WR when you look at what the team did best. They have to replace Cooper and Hollins, most everyone is hoping they resign Hollins so that leaves one spot left to sign either an experienced player or draft a rookie in the first couple of rounds, but not both. Unless they cut Samuel, but money wise hard for them to do that.
-
You planning to cut Samuel as that adds up to 6 WR and they almost always only carry five. When posters start talking about who they they think the team will sign or draft, you need to be able to count to 53! I've read a few posts how they should draft 2 rookie DT's Then add Oliver Jones, Carter, an 2 rookies is 5, that's it ad having two rookies backups at the same position and your other backup is only in his 2nd year, doesn't likely mean the team will be better in 2025. They may be better in around 2027 , but not right away.

NFL will make all games available on stream in 2025.

I wonder how good the NFL's technology will be a stopping IP spoofing?? Hmmmmm....... -
I think Bishop is better suited for strong safety so could move Bishop there and sign Cisco for FS. Then either have Rapp for depth or cut/trade him, admittedly wouldn't get very much in a trade maybe a 6th or 7th. Add to that as much as Rapp was hurt, wouldn't be a terrible thing. However the Bills have Bishop and Rapp for another year. Considering they have somewhat limited resources to spend in FA, not sure you'd want to spend money on a player that may not have a starting position for him. but if the Bills feel moving on from Rapp as a starter is a positive move, then yes to this.

Best non Super Bowl Bills Team, SB era, ever
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Thrivefourfive's topic in The Stadium Wall
Like everyone wants to talk about the 13 second game in that the Bills were leading when Allen walked off the field. Bills were leading that day too when Johnson walked off the field. They didn't lose because of Johnson, they lost because of ST. The year prior, Flutie's first year, he played lights out. 2nd year 99 Bills, they won because of their defense and Flutie did OK He was nothing that special that second year, but he was special in trying to take the credit and deflect all blame in press conferences. -

Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Thrivefourfive's topic in The Stadium Wall
Was that the year Ferguson got hurt or was that 1981?? I'd go with whichever year it was he was hurt. Believe they played in the Bengals in playoff game, temp was rea; cold and lost -
Agree the issue isn't Allen, it's the defense and that needs to improve. But also shows for everyone who wants coaching changes, the Bills have been the 2nd best team over the past 5 years and that does say something. It also indicates that there's a very small window with changing coaches and improving as there's very little room. So of the 6 teams to make a SB appearance or better are from the NFC which is pretty wide open, every year it's spin the wheel as to who goes that far it seems. A couple teams may have 2 points on the wheel. This article could have been titled the NFL has a playoff problem as the Chiefs are the outlier. Unfortunately for the Bills and the rest of the AFC, they have to get through KC. But for many also get through Buffalo too.

So I've thought of that happening too, it's not totally out of the question, but do think it would take a lot for it to occur. He is under contract through 2028, doubtful anything would happen for the next 2 years and very likely the Bills would tag him probably at least twice before coming to the realization that he's not going to resign here and consider a trade. There's another thread here talking about him only having 5 good years left so that would put him pretty close to the end of that 5 year period anyway so maybe Bills would be ready to take whatever they can get accoring to the other poster. The one thing I'd question is your comment about an offensive minded coach. You're making a big assumption that McVey would still be there coaching in LA that he doesn't get fired prior. For all the complaints about McD, McD has a winning percent of .642 compared to .602 for McVay Yes McVay is 1-1 in the SB and that seems to give a lifetime contract with it in the NFL, but he's also had a 5-12 record in there. Seems like everyone here gives a lifetime pass for any coach that wins a SB. Tomlin, Harbaugh, and McVay are 3 names that come to mind, at least McVay won it within the past 5 years, I'll give him that. Maybe those fanbases want their coach fired and possibly would be lobbying for the team to hire McD?

Watching the playoffs again, i’m okay with Bass for now
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Billsfed1's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agree with that part Exactly I think the odds of it becoming a crap shoot are much higher with a rookie than with Bass. Likely too if you did draft a rookie, throughout the entire preseason, the rookie may do all the kicking and even if they split 50/50 it still may only be 6 or 7 attempts between the two of them. In your mind 3 or 4 kicks apiece in subdued game conditions plus practice would determine a "winner"? I wouldn't be opposed to using a late round pick on a rookie, but unless Bass totally falls apart before the season starts, there's no real competition, this rookie is just there in case of emergency or Bass struggles real bad mid season. Best case would be to draft the rookie and place him on the PS, but if he did look even half way decent in preseason a good chance another team grabs him when you cut him to try and move him to the PS or if not then, during the season if a teams kicker got hurt. Actually real best case would be you make the guy kick until his leg is ready to fall off and he strains a muscle, then can move him to IR and keep him there all year unless Bass really struggles. But that means using one of believe it's two OR designated to return slots and doubt the team would want to do that for a kicker. -

To bring in legit will cost money, likely a decent signing bonus if he is a true legit kicker. Plus why would a true "legit" kicker sign with Buffalo when he knows unless Bass looks terrible, Bass will win the job as too much money invested in him and other than late in 2023 and early 2024, he's been a very good kicker. -
Potential Cap Casualties 2025
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to GASabresIUFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
The article makes a good point, there was another article also suggesting he could be gone. Edwards has one year left on contract, he'll be gone next year for certain due to the youth around him, so would make sense to make the move now so you have 3 years of playing time while on rookie deal. I don't agree with the article on who the replacement will be, I think the starter will end up being Van Pran-Granger. While the trade idea sounds good, question would be do they re-coup the same saving if he's traded compared to cut. And also don't think you'd get a 3rd, maybe a 4th, but that's even debatable. I believe Bates had more time left on contract so was worth giving up more for him, whereas Edwards only has one year left. Do think Miller either takes a huge pay cut o he's gone. I do think Martin may be gone as they signed at least one (thought there was a 2nd?) punter and it give a $2 mil savings. No idea how much money if any could be saved by cutting Morris but see they signed Davidson to a contract, could see him being the #3 TE assuming he is a half way decent blocker and can play ST. I wounder if they'd consider cutting Trubisky as also a $2mil saving. They signed M White and have that other player Bushle?? AJ also could be gone if they sign a high end vet DE plus a depth DE free agent and draft another mid round that leaves, Groot, new FA, rookie, vet, and Solomon .
