Well if you did some checking, you'd probably find a lot of coaches meet that definition!! Reading it back now and looking at it, to be honest, I can't figure out now what word I was trying to write!

And even a bigger idiot if anyone thinks that if they fire McD, someone is going to come in a do a better job. Over the past 5 years combined, the Bills have won the 2nd most games behind the Chiefs 66 to 61. If you exclude the top 5 teams on the list, from that point down, the next 5 to 10 teams would need to take their 6 year combined wins against Bills 5 year totals to catch him and after about #15 on the list would take 7 seasons. Over the past 5 season the Bills are also first in TD's, yards, yards per game, opposing points and points per game (those 2 surprised me a bit) 2nd in first downs and 3rd down percent and a disappointing 4th place in fourth down %, a whole 1.1% behind the leader. When you look at numbers like that there is so little room for improvement, the likelihood is very very low. I get the argument too, that you can't keep doing the same thing and expect different results, but the counter to that is, If you're going to change something expecting to get better, you need a well laid out plan what's going to change so you get better. And in selecting NFL coaches there really isn't a plan, it's just getting lucky with the right person. If there was a plan many teams would have figured it out and succeeded already. Picking an NFL that will succeed is not much better than the equivalent of playing roulette and hoping you hit on your number. There was an article in the Athletic the other day discussing how: Teams should also realize that hiring offensive coordinators as head coaches is not critical or even important for making sure your offense and your team contends at the highest levels. and gave 5 examples of winning HC who never called offensive plays John Harbaugh, McD, Campbell, Bowles, and Quinn and then gave some examples of hoe name coaches to hire who never worked out for various reasons You may be onto something about those complaining about picking the wrong Josh

Yeah and I'd place Mahomnes closer to Allen and Jackson too. I also question McVay having the 2nd best coaching score. Yes been to 2 different SB with 2 different QB's but in between no so great. Since last SB win, this is first year they won division and that was more the other teams lost than Rams doing great.

Yup and how's they do lately? Did they win the SB, did I miss that? They seem to fit the model of exactly what I described, fast rise, plateau, then falling. Lets face if the Bills made it to the SB this year and lost, all the McD haters would still be calling for his head. Seems most teams who get that superstar QB often ascend quickly out of know where, make some bold sometimes somewhat risky moves to get over the top (see Diggs, Miller), but more offend it gets them close, but not all the way and puts them in cap trouble. Coaches and front office folks will also learn from some of their roster building mistakes and do it slightly different after that. So then the team rebuilds/retools around the QB and some other players which is where the Bills are now. Based on preseason expectations, think it went better so far than expected. Bills, Bengals, Dolphins, 49ers all followed that path to name a few. Think the Bengals and Dolphins are couple years behind the Bills so will be interesting to see how they recover. Will they quickly bounce back like Bills did or sink into oblivion like many other teams have done over the years. Dolphins also have the problem of having a QB who is very good, top 10 when healthy, but staying on the field is a problem for him. Why were the Chiefs the exception, likely because they were already a good team before Mahomes ever got there. Also had a coach with around 15 years experience with roster building (and never winning the SB) before he ever got to KC. Still took him 7 years there before winning his first SB. Chiefs didn't have to "grow up fast" like others did as they already had a decent core to build around the QB. Add to all that little bit of luck, favorable playoff matchups, avoiding key injuries and events and bad times, and not getting hurt by bad calls all help too.

Based on the odds most of the country think the Ravens are the better team and will win. Prior to the start of season most in the media for good reason,felt this was a rebuilding year, possibly the Bills wouldn't even make the playoffs and the team has certainly done much better than expected. None of that will matter if the Bills lose Sunday or the following week, or the SB if they get that far, the McD hater will be out in full force saying he must go. Some would be disappointed if the Bills won the SB as they'd have trouble making the argument he needs to be fired. I suppose they could still argue the team didn't win by enough points, so he needs to go!

Recall one of the concerns about him was he was pretty well off, so wasn't going to be all that motivated as didn't need the money.

I've read Hendrickson from Bengals is likely to get cut, think he'd be better choice.

That's true, didn't think about them playing Monday. So unless CBS can "protect" playoff games, I'll bet Bills/Ravens are Saturday night

CBS had 2 games this weekend, Fox only one. So my guess is Sunday at 6:30 will be Fox game so not likely an AFC game. Think NBC will have the Saturday night, Fox the early Sat and late Sunday and CBS the "early" 3L30 on Sunday. Saturday night likely either the Bills/Ravens or maybe Lions/Vikes (assuming Vikes win) but NBC did have that same game last week so maybe will want Bills instead

Yes but when up as much as they were as late in the game as it was, not problem with taking on the defensive side either. It broke the little momentum Denver had too.

The other thing they did today on almost every kickoff. Bass kicked off the ball low so it first hit in the "landing zone" and then rolled into the endzone, most of the time resulting in touchbacks. But if the ball first touches in the "landing zone" and results in a touchback, the team starts on the 20 instead of the 30. Last week Bass apparently practiced this on a couple of kicks, one landed short of landing zone which resulted in team taking ball at 40. So a bit of risk/reward, but today he didn't miss on any of them. Didn't realize this was even a rule until the 3rd quarter after the Bills FG, there was a touchback and Denver started on 20

Well players can quit at halftime, so yeah why not! At least McD does have personal experience with this.
