  1. So the Bills keep 5 WR's on their roster and to add more means cutting short another position, not likely to happen and for legit reasons. Shakir and Coleman are pretty certain to be back, would cost a fair amount of cap hit to cut Samuel, so likely he's back. I think and hope they resign Hollins and think he may take a little less money to return here as seems to like it here. So unless they don't resign Hollins or cut Samuel, that leaves one roster spot. Maybe they will decide to abandon the two TE concept and decide to try and trade either Knox or Kincaid which then could open another WR spot, but would be surprised if they do . For all the talk of how the Bills need WR help the offense was number one two in the league in most overall categories so think this WR need is being over blown. All season the" Everyone eats" was talked about as a good thing and understand the two things aren't mutually exclusive but also need to be careful of tinkering with what did work. The biggest issue this team had was getting to the QB and getting of the field on 3rd down.
  2. Hmm So I guess you're smarter than 50% of the GM's out there then.
  3. So the crazy part of the College All Star game was you had players who'd already been drafted by some NFL team, maybe even the team they are playing against in this game and they are playing for the All stars, then after this game, would report to their NFL team training camp. Can anyone imagine that today? Wow this is even crazier, Bills could play the Argonauts!! During most of its run, the College All-Star Game was not particularly unique, since NFL teams frequently played exhibition games against non-NFL competition in its early decades. However, by the 1970s, the NFL was withdrawing from competition against teams that were not members of the league. Following the end of preseason games against teams from the Eastern Conference of the Canadian Football League in 1961, the NFL played only three games against non-NFL teams
  4. You sure, no history of that. And was the league champ who played in it and Steelers never won championship prior to 1975 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_Charities_College_All-Star_Game
  5. Well your not much younger than me, I was 11 in 1966. But it was strictly an NFL thing, I lived in NYC area so had Jets but also Giants. If you were in Buffalo area and only followed AFL can see why you missed it So which was worse, this or College All Star game?? LOL
  6. Not exactly a new idea. You must be younger than I thought! LOL Actually I was bit surprised when I looked it up as thought it went back before 1960, but do recall the last few. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Playoff_Bowl
  7. I guess there's 32 suckers in the league as seems like most years at least 75% of the teams use the 5th year option and it's not the same 75% every year, the GM's all use it more often than not. 2nd best overall record in the league over the past 5 years. Without the elite WR they still either led the league or were in 2nd in most offense categories. That's how Beane did it.
  8. Agree with pretty much all your comments except for two and for the same reason, money. It's been stated many places would cost more to cut Milano this year than keep him. He's here for 12025. Plus as he got more games back his play did improve, certainly saw more improvement from him than we did when Miller first came back. Groot is on 5th year option, have thee choices, let him play on 5th year option at cost of just under $14 mil Cut him and take $14 mil cap hit Sign him to new contract at much lower hit for the next couple of years, maybe add void years so could get rid of him then if needed. I also think if he can keep playing on his best side and not have to switch for Miller, he'd be better and also be better if had a better pass rusher on other side.
  9. I'm really not certain if joking or not. Well if it were up to me, they'd be no need to trade for him as I think he should be fired. First off the biggest knock on McD applies to Tomlin, he's also a defensive minded coach. But I think at this point he's a defensive minded coach who had success 10 to 15 years ago, when you could get away with that more as few great QB's in league so could just run the ball and win with great defense.
  10. Of course, because posters here are all fans and see everything through rose colored glasses. But many in the media who, while not 100% are looking at things more objectively and see they players who were gone. In hind sight the moves on offense worked out, but not so much in the secondary. For the past two season, there was post prior to the beginning of the season stating how they liked the overall WR group better than the year prior, how'd that work out, particularly last year with Hardy and the other guy, can't recall his name. My point, folks here for the most part are clueless. Overall the Bills overachieved, but once you get to the final 4 and you're so close, add to that beat KC in regular season and KC doesn't look as good as in the past, it hurts even more to lose. Reality is they were playing with house money by the end.
  11. I doubt you can do that with a 5th year option. He has no contract beyond 2025, so to create void years would need a contract to start with. Even when void years are created it's not done unilaterally, player needs to sign off and even if Groot wanted to, there's not contract to sign off on. The Bills have 3 options with Groot, let him playout the 5th year option at just under $14 mil Take the $14mil cap hit Sign him to a new contract with a signing bonus spread over years and then could add void year, but you're not going to sign him to a new contract and then turn around and cut him as that would very likely cost even more.
  12. By the time you see the formation coaches can't tell them what to do at that point, microphone is cut off. Players on the field need to figure it out.
  13. True, but I just think coaching the guys you played with this recent isn't always good. Go somewhere else, coach for a year or two there, then can hang your shingle that you are actually a coach, then come back here if you want.
  14. Well if you don't resign Groot, you have a $14 mil cap hit this season, so tough not to sign him too.
  15. For less than 2 months, that's different than year round. I assume he did live he during past years so who knows? It may be easier if he really wants to get into coaching to start with one of the teams in the area LA, Vegas and also may be better when first starting out as coach to go to a team where you aren't coaching the guys you just played with can make it tougher for him.
  16. Yes but then you have all the posts it's all McD and Beane's fault and need to be fired. Some of this blame does need to go on Josh and the play calling of Brady meanwhile a 7 page thread about how lucky we are that Brady withdrew from Saints job (ant not saying he should go either) Also no idea how many of the defensive and even offensive issues weren't due to coaching at all, but 100% on execution. There was article in the Athletic today that talked about the 3 phases of Allen in the game, the first phase was the gunslinger of old somewhat panicking, then the 2024 version took over, and don't recall what exactly he referred to the 3rd phase as.
  17. Add to that his momentum was carrying him away form the ball. I'm not a doctor, (but did stay at Holiday Inn) so can confirm that would make it even harder to get to the ball.
  18. I'd be surprised if a guy living in San Diego want to leave that to coach??
  19. Well if you're letting Groot go, you're throwing $14 mil out the door, so very doubtful that happens. I think Hamlin as a backup is probably as good a player as many other teams have. Don't know if he needs to be cut, but certainly should not be starting. Last year I was hoping they'd sign Douglas to an extension, but his play tailed off and would let him go. I'd use 1st round pick on CB if it were up to me.
  20. I think in hindsight KC all season was maybe sleepwalking through many of the games and would just play well enough to win. But could have done more if/when needed. And when they did need to step up their game yesterday, they did. Add to that one of the narratives of last weeks Ravens game was many Bills players were out for the 1st game, the same was true for KC in the November match up. And while we had some players out in November, think KC had more overall talent missing than we did.
  21. Yeah, question is ho much $$ will it take
  22. If you look at most defensive stats KC defense was better than Bills over the entire season . So if leaking 32 points is so bad, then was leaking 29 by KC any better? Did you think the Bills defense was going to shut out the Chiefs? The bigger issue to me in this game was the two stops and 4th down, missed two point conversions, plus two 3 and outs in first half, repeatedly running same play on offense that wasn't working.
  23. Another low hanging fruit is sign Groot to new contract which removes 5th year option salary saving maybe close to $10 mil. And Allen would be a 3rd big saving, easily knock maybe $15 mil off the top
  24. Miller, Spector sure Cooper thought he's a FA?? Hamline shouldn't be starting but would be as good a backup as many teams have. Kincaid is a huge over reaction like often the case here. Posters here would have ran many Bills players off after first couple of seasons (Brown, Knox are at top of list) who have become strengths. Did Kincaid have a disappointing year, yes, but was that on him or the offensive scheme? Why did he have less targets to me that's due to scheme? Looking at his numbers, seemed like once he came back from being injured, he wasn't looked at very much. As far as last play, that's one of those where his momentum is carrying him one way, and now needs to come back the other way. It's a very easy play to make for those sitting in their recliners watching on TV, but much harder for the actual player on the field.
  25. Hamlin doesn't need to go, but he shouldn't be the starter. As a backup, he's likely as good as most backups. Move Bishop to SS and sign a FA free safety. Last year I'd have voted to sign Douglas to an extension, but his play dropped off. IMO I'd use my 1st round draft pick on a CB, and sign Benford to an extension. Then have Rapp, Hamlin, Ingram, Lewis as depth and maybe try and maybe sign a better backup CB too. I'd put my big FA money on signing or trading for a DE who can get 10 sacks a year in his sleep. Think AJ and Solomon as backs are good and sign Groot to a new contract. I think Carter will become a good 1-DT, but still may struggle some in year 2. Think Oliver will look much better with good play next to him LB also needs some help Milano is back next year as costs more to cut him than keep him, but see how he plays next year if not back to old level, cut him in 2026. And would use maybe a 3rd round pick on his possible replacement or a better version of Bernard. Offense the only need is WR, I would start with signing Hollins to a 2 or maybe 3 year deal. Think they are stuck with Samuel for another season as would also cost too much to cut.
