Which would be the better offseason
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Sharky7337's topic in The Stadium Wall
Having a QB like Allen makes middle tier WR look real good. Look at some of the guys on Indy, NE Green Bay over the years. I agree we need better play at WR, but feel a 1st round rookie could give you that, plus sign a mid tier FA WR for more depth. It took Edmunds and Oliver 3 to 4 seasons to look good, replacing them would more likely result in a large drop off defensively. Agree go WR, then guard the neither another guard or safety depending what happens with Poyer and Hyde. Do think McD knows the skills needed and like he did with Hyde find a CB to convert into safety. -

The games time for the two conference championship games are always 3:00 and 6:30 , hasn't been 1:00 in years. Each year the two conferences alternate the times and the TV networks each want the 6:30 game. Last year AFC was at 3:00 so this year AFC turn to be the late one, 6:30 on CBS -

Wow timed that well yesterday booked hotel in both Charlotte and Atlanta just in case. I booked Sat and Sun night for at the Westin Peachtree , two night total $375, now it's $411 per night and Marriott Marquis was $195 yesterday, now $800. Both fancier rooms than I booked, but don't need anything fancy and can get upgraded anyway. Will have to see about tickets -
Will DeAndre Hopkins be available this offseason?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to NeverOutNick's topic in The Stadium Wall
No problem. Yeah these threads go in many directions all at once! -
Yeah I would have thought he'd have had more than that to. Someone just posted his snap counts, so the one game he played quite a bit was the Miami game. Was one of there other WR's out that game, maybe that was why snap count jumped up?? Davis maybe?? Do agree, he did do a decent job on PR. According to lineups.com Crowder played 18 snaps(31%], 19(28%, 45(49%}, and 11(17%}

6 receptions for 60 yards, 0 TD's Couldn't find snap counts for him, but don't recall him playing all that much. While I agree the offense was humming find it hard to believe it was due to Crowder. If Crowder comes back wonder if they will they dump Beasley? Will be interesting to see this Sunday which WR's are active, Brown, or Beasley or both. Both would likely mean someone else sits though eather at WR or some other position.

I was responding to a post that was in favor of signing Hopkins, but cutting ties with Edmunds and drafting a rookie to replace him and using the money saved on Edmunds to afford Hopkins. We weren't talking about rookie WR, but was about rookie MLB. -

Don't doubt long term could be better, but would worry me if would help or hurt in 2023. -

A rookie. You expect a rookie MLB to come in and not lose anything on the field. Good luck there. He could be available when the Bills pick likely barring a SB appearance. One of the scouting reports I read on him said this: There may be a lag in development before we see his best version in the pros but I would expect Simpson is a plus starter in due time Doesn't sound like expecting him to be the starter him next year will help the team. Who knows they may have to this way if they don't resign Edmunds, but not sure it helps them all that much short term. -

Except you've likely weakened the defense more than you strengthened the offense. As we saw this year the games Edmunds missed there was a significant drop off in play. Now you want to replace him with a rookie! One who assuming we win this weekend will be drafted no higher than 25. You can find rookies with good tackling skills and maybe also great speed, real ball hawks! But the one thing that separates Edmunds from most is his size and amount of ground he covers. And if you can find a rookie with size, he's still a rookie. It took Edmunds 4 seasons to look good. -

Actually not painless as you now need to spend money to replace him. And not at all saying they should keep him. My point is Saffords money is likely going to his replacement. Same with Poyer or Edmunds. You can draft some of the replacements for some of these guys, but don't think that makes much sense to have a bunch of rookies starting and replacing key players when in a win now mode. Coming up with the money is the easy part. The question is where is it best spent, not so sure you want to spend it to have two WR's both being paid top $$. While I agree we need better play from WR position, based on past few years of what's happened around the league, think you could draft a rookie in 1st round, start him and get the improvement we need plus sign a mid tier guy for backup due to injury. Having a QB like Allen makes any WR look much better too so don't need top level as much. With limited money to use, think it's better spent on mid tier WR, IOL, and maybe S to start to fill holes. -

Maybe that's why Hopkins wants out! -
There's a simple solution to this Cut Josh Allen! Then likely will finish in 4th place while KC continues to dominate and win their division. Then will only face KC every 3rd year when we play the AFC West. Curious did you start a similar thread 10 years ago or so when we faced the Bengals and Jag's close to every year when we were all more often than not finishing in last place?

Can we take a moment and appreciate the front office
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
Why is it terrible when over a believe it's a 12 year period, every team plays almost every other team equal number of times home and away. Granted the one thing that can't be controlled is the two games each year, one home and one away based on where you finished in the standings. You can rip the NFL office all you want, but one thing I'm certain of is they have had a whole room for of people analyzing all different concepts and this likely for a number of reasons most here have never thought of, this is the best idea. If you spend 15 minutes thinking about it, yes may sound dumb, but if you spent 15 days looking at it, I'm sure there are many reason most never thought of. Things like this, they do get right, it's more the human element they struggle with. -

Apparently you just woke up from the same coma as Dick Cheney above! -
Like they often say, the coverup is usually worse than the initial lie. Also too the Bengals reps were probably thinking more clearly and maybe heard better everything that was being said. They were probablt more in a listening mode than the Bills were that night. Could more see McD and Beane having one ear on the discussion and the other in the locker room and a 3rd at the hospital. So may not have heard much of anything clearly. Bengals less preoccupied.

Just in case it ends up in Charlotte, I just booked a hotel room for Sunday night. Figured do it while prices are still low. -
Mitchell Trubisky regrets signing With Steelers
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to BuffaloBills1998's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agree, but still for the player they likely either come away realizing they just are not as good as they think they are, or they feel like they didn't get as much of a shot as they hoped for. -
Can/Will Hyde play in the postseason?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall
If he's not started his 21 day window by now, very doubtful. Look at what Bills have typically done, once players complete the 21 day period, they move them to active roster, but then kept them inactive a couple more games. Add all that up maybe could be ready to play in SB, but not likely prior and that's optimistic. -
Don't look now, but Bills rounding into playoff shape.
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to ChicagoRic's topic in The Stadium Wall
And covering receivers. Between Hyde being out, Poyer hurt to some degree and White not back to old form, they are hurting there. Now add loss of Hamlin on top of that, made the Pats look like Air Coryell. -

Don't under estimate the egos of these guys. I'm sure Mitch felt he learned all this valuable help from Daboll and watching Allen and wasn't going to make the same mistakes again and would live up to being the #2 overall draft pick. May have seen himself as a Kurt Warner type career revitalization. Agree, but also wanted a fair shot to show what he had and not have to compete against a guy the team just traded a 1st round pick for either.
