There's been alot made of playing Foster over Williams for the most part this season, some reasons have been mentioned in a number of places, ST play etc. One reason though that don't recall seeing mentioned much could be: You had a relatively inexperienced QB in Allen, You've brought in two new WR's this year in Brown and Beas plus new TE, new O-line, there was what 7 new starting players on offense to start the season. Thinking may have been the one player that Allen seemed to have connected with well from 2018 was Foster so they were going to keep him out there and give him alot of time to re-capture what they had the year prior. Why it didn't happen, who knows, kind of wonder if the issue is Foster tends to not handle adversary very well?

Off-season: Expected and Surprise Cuts
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to ngbills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Doubt they'll cut both Smith and Kroft, likely one stays. Stars a big hit to cut, likely lasts one more year. Murphey think will be a contract redo involving a paycut... or he goes Have a hunch you'll be disappointed come March! -
Could be a PR move on Brady's part to make NE think he's not coming back here easily unless they offer him the big bucks. Or may be that publicly nothing has been stated but Belichick has told Brady, that he's not in their plans for 2020. Maybe BB would get over ruled by Kraft but still may have angered Brady enough to say he's done in NE

I think #4 is part of #1, looking at overall schedule was easy, and they played some of the easier ones on the road like Giants, in hindsight Dallas and Pitt, at the time Tenn. Think it's somewhat easier for a defense to stay elite than offense as overall salaries are lower on that side so less players victim to cap casualties.

Wow, Didn't expect JJ to be as emotional.

I always like to say, don't let facts get in the way of a good argument! -
Wow! Bojo tied for the league lead with seven touchbacks, led the league in average hang time, only 22.8% of his punts returned which was the best in league, second in the league in punts downed inside the 20, ...... but then ranked 30th in net and gross. Talk about a mixed bag! Actually seeing all these numbers makes me want to give him more time to improve, not quite as bad as he seemed to be sometimes.

One thing they mentioned last niight in the game was related to the CBA, if there's no new CBA in place by March, teams can use bot ha franchise and a transition tag, implying Tenn could tag both Henry and Tannerhill if they wanted. But new CBA would only allow one tag, assuming the new CBA were to continue the tag system. Wasn't sure what that was all about?

My Off-Season Primer: Position Group Specialists
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Would be real nice if one of those you draft also has some field goal kicking experience too. Use him just on the long ones instead of Haus. Years back, that was somewhat common a punter who can also kick field goals, not so much anymore. -
My Off-Season Primer: Position Group: WR

I'd be OK with the one year AJ Green prove it deal. But is risky to the Bills if he can't play much, then we're back in the same spot as this past season. I also agree with the tier II WR, then only other tier I I'd consider would be Robby Anderson only because I don't think he'll be obscenely expensive. I wouldn't draft a WR in round 1, I'd prefer to wait to round 2 or even 3. My reasoning is I'd prefer to see a pas rusher in the first round as harder to find them in FA than WR If they want to take a second one late would be OK with that too. Looking at the numbers, you have Brown, Beasly and Roberts returning. Signing a FA and draft one, you're up to five. That leaves at most one slot left assuming they went with six which wasn't the case this past year. That means Foster, McKenzie, and Duke are battling for maybe one spot. Of the three I'd give the edge to McKenzie as they like him for the gimmick plays he brings and his ST play. -
Couple comments RB/TE I'm not one for asking why can't a player move to another position like often see posts here. Having said that for as little the fullback is used, could they get Lee Smith to become a combination blocking TE and FB for the few times they really need a full back, reasoning being it would save a roster spot. I'd also like to see them sign a big bruising type RB who if you line up both him and Singletary, could also kind of serve as a FB when giving the ball to him. OT I believe Waddle is a FA as only had a one year deal. Probably can easily re-sign if they desire. OL I do agree with not paying too much for Spain. I think if he walks, then may see Ford move to tackle. If he is resigned, then agree they keep Ford at RT WR I think they sign a decent FA someone of Browns ability, but with size and draft a WR maybe in round #2. WR is one of the harder positions for rookies to look good fast so makes more snese to not depend on him the first year. Based on the numbers then could mean Williams, McKenzie & Foster are all gone. Of the three most likely to be back I'd guess on McKenzie. DE agree they need help there You left out punter

My Off-Season Primer: Postion Group - TE
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You left out Jason Croom, how can you possibly forget him?? If Vlad Ducasse had trade value anyone does!! Personally I wouldn't cut anyone until you need the cap space. You never know who could get hurt between now and next September. Plus do think there is trade value for another team who maybe had their TE get hurt prior to week #1. Kroft's injury put him behind the 8 ball all season and he never caught up, but some team may have interest. -
Biggest Bills needs this offseason

Could back up QB use improving yes, but who is that guy? First off almost all the teams in the league if it comes down to the backup, the teams in trouble. For the most part the only teams with decent backups are teams that had a very shaky starter, so the QB who signed figured there's a good chance I will start at some time. i.e. Fitz, Tannerhill. Love him or hate him Allen is the starter in 2020 and has shown enough improvement in one year to justify that. So a guy like a Dalton likely wouldn't come here unless he can't find any better situations. Considering the overall lack of good QB's around, think he'll find a better spot. Yuo want to "upgrade" from Barkley to say a Josh McCown, that's probably doable, but how much of an upgrade is that? Other items tend to agree with overall though would switch pass rusher and RB in order of priority. Persoanlly my order would be 3, 4, 1, 5, 2, and 6 -
Offense Starters for 2020
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to KingBoots8's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Supposedly Spain signed a 1 year prove it deal which he did. Unless the Bill's feel they want to keep Ford at tackle, why sign Spain? The most cost effective move and not losing anything on the field is to move Ford to guard, start Nsekhe at RT, but also draft in about the 3rd round a RT. Let him sit in 2020, but then start him in 2021 once Nsekhe's deal expires. That leaves you set at 10 of the 11 positions. Only one left is another WR or if they go big, they already have enough TE's on the roster to choose from. -
The Making of the 2020 Roster
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to jwhit34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with you on the Bills not wanting to pay that much, but the league has gone in a direction of not paying RB's in general. So what Henry wants vs what other offers he gets in general, may be way different. That could leave the Bills an opening. Could really create havoc if you put the two out there together. This could also make all the DeMarco haters happy as having a guy like Henry in the backfield, you really don't need a fullback. Or maybe then you keep Lee Smith and he's both a blocking TE and on rare occasion, lines up as FB. Saves one roster spot.
