  1. I think the attempted lateral warrants Mcd's comment about doing too much.
  2. Could have been the thinking was Metcalf was going to last one more round. 26 picks later almost made it. Not sure how effective Metcalf would have been with an inexperienced QB. Easy for him to look good catching passes from Russell Wilson. And who would have been your RT once Ty got hurt?
  3. Everyone tends to rip McD over clock management. Sean Peyton has been coaching for close to 15 years now, think he screwed up big time. On the 3rd down sack of Minn. there was around 2:45 left when they wound the 40 second clock down meaning Vikes would need to punt with something more than 2:05 left unless the Saints used their last time out. I understand not wanting to take your last TO with over two minutes left, but need to think things thru. He should have easily figured out that there's a good chance the punt which upon change of possession stops the clock automatically is going to end up including the two minute warning, so you lose a stoppage. What happened, Vikes punted with 2:07 left, including the return clock went down to 1:55 and ow have a stoppage for change of possession and two minute warning. If he had called his last TO with 2:45 left, take the twelve seconds away for the punt and return would have likely still left him with about 2:32. Saints could have easily ran two completions to the middle of the field or four plays either incompletions or player going out of bounds before the two minute warning. Two completions could have netted him 20 to 25 yards field position, would have given them a reasonable shot at throwing a pass into the end zone for a TD. And by the way the regulation ended with the Saints still having the TO in their pocket.
  4. My take all along over the summer was, if it was regular season, he'd be out there, but in pre-season, let him sit and get 100% over it.
  5. Yes they can, but unfortunately the court is busy right now still trying the case from last years New Orleans game. When they rule on that the Bills will be next!
  6. If he is,barring a huge improvement then the team didn't do enough to improve in the off season.
  7. None of the above, I blame the defense for allowing Houston to cross the goal line 4 times in last twenty minutes or so of regulation. If you want to blame McD for that then OK, but more put it on the players.
  8. The problem isn't Duke playing, the problem is whether it's Duke, McKenzie or Foster as the #2 WR doesn't scare any defenses at all. Duke played OK considering the situation. The real issue the entire season was the regression of Foster. I wonder if they had realized Foster was never going to improve all year if they had to do it all over, would they have traded Zay? Maybe it will come out now that Foster had some type of injury, but my suspicion is his issue is between his ears, or maybe more in his chest. IMO the Bills need to sign a FA WR, and unless it's Amari Cooper I'd just as soon see them save money and diva time and sign a possession guy but with size and draft i n the 2nd round another WR. Assuming that happens, two new guys, plus Beasley, Brown and Roberts, leaves little room for Duke, McKenzie or Foster. Of the three, I'd give the best chance of sticking around next year to McKenzie as he provides a certain trick play ability. But as someone else mentioned, barring a huge improvement in the off season, if Duke is around next season, the team didn't likely do enough to improve.
  9. His injuries worry me. I'd rather see them sign another Brown like WR and draft one in the 2nd or 3rd round as WR most often take a year or more to figure things out. Plus I'd maybe go after Derick Henry or someone similar. And some more line help.
  10. In 2 of the biggest drives of hte season with 2 minutes left today and the last drive agaisnt NE, no one was blocked. Blaming a 2nd year QB to panic in that situation is alot to ask. Personally I'd blame the #2 ranked defense for allowing the Texans to cross the goal line 4 times in around the last 20 minutes. The lateral certainly was a completely idiotic play, but other than that, really not sure about the hero ball. You want to blame the long pass to DeMarco, what were his other options?
  11. That was the other thing was it six sacks, but maybe one in the last 20 minutes?
  12. We need a WR, maybe sign an experienced mid level WR plus draft one with 2nd or 3rd round pick, another bruising type RB, Derrick Henry would look pretty good, plus more help on the O line. On defense more pass rushing, I'd use the 1st round pick there as harder to find good FA pass rushers than WR IMO. And a punter, and maybe a field goal kicker
  13. To me the game was lost on having a 16-0 lead with about 20 minutes left and allowing Houston the cross the goal line 4 times. Regardless of what the closk showked, giving up 18 yards on a 3rd and 18 is also what lost the game. Considering the overall limited talent on offense , not blaming them.
  14. True, plus then ref watches the clock, then looks at the ball so there's a delay. You see that all the ime in every game, if it's within a second or go they let it go as they know it's not an exact science
  15. Got a QB controversy now. John Brown two passes, two TD's this year!
  16. Didn't think about it, but leaving in about 20 minutes for an early dinner at Texas Roadhouse.
  17. Was trying to recall when we hired McD 3 years ago, who were the other people they interviewed? And who else did people here want interviewed and hired for HC of those they interviewed? I do recall McD was far from the top choice around here.
  18. It's fine to want ot draft a replacement for Rivers, but is there someone out there good enough to be the starter this coming season? Chargers were the pick of many this past year to be in the playoffs and maybe a deep run and wasn't 100% because of Rivers so there must still be a fair amount of talent there. To go from there to one season later starting a rookie or TT, would be somewhat surprising so could see them either re-signing Rivers to maybe a 2 year deal or looking for a vet, but maybe in either case drafting a rookie but have someone this year more seasoned to start. To me the difference between Rivers vs Winston and Daulton is Rivers has played long enough that he's not going to go some place that he's not pretty much guaranteed to start. Likely Winston and Daulton would say the same, however the difference IMO is that River/Manning have played long enough to easily retire if not given that chance. Where as Winston and Daulton will hold out for the starting gig, but when/if reality sets in that they aren't getting one, then could see them sign someplace where they know their spot is to be the backup. But also agree that Winston's off field image isn't likely to ever get an offer from the Bills. I'd be worried if the Bills backup is a rookie as Allen isn't far enough up the learning curve yet to be relying on a rookie as a sounding board. Unless it's like a 6th rounder who you cut and move to the PS, but likely anything drafted much higher, may get snatched up if any potential. In that case the rookie is the #3 QB, but still want/need a vet backup.
  19. I'd think a team like San Diego, Carolina, would take a chance on a guy like him assuming they are also drafting a rookie, (maybe not early 1st round) and let them compete, (or whatever team signs Josh Rosen) probably even let Dalton start and as the season goes on, if he falters, then turn to the rookie. Going to a team like Buffalo he knows he's not going to have a chance to start barring injury. But if there really is no market for him with a team where he's given a shot to start, then could see him coming to a place like Buffalo strictly as the backup.
  20. This is to counter balance Houston activating JJ Watt. Now we're even!
  21. Yup everyone knows that except the coaches, you're the smart one. Not sure if this was meant to be sarcastic or you're just an idiot.
  22. Wow, so far only 4 openings, a real down year for new coaching jobs.
  23. How many teams in the league aren't doomed if their backup is forced to play? The only exceptions tend to be teams that have a questionable starter to begin with so a good backup signs with that team as he knows he has a good chance to start, i.e. Fitz, and Tannerhill. As was also mentioned, many of the better options aren't going to sign with a team where they know they will only be the backup and never start other than due to injury, i.e. Dauton, Drafting a rookie would put you in a worse spot Couple that with many starters being out, don't think we're any worse than most teams.
  24. Recall reading the stories last week that Coughlin was out, but never seen/read anything that it did actually happen??
  25. When you read all the articles from people more in the know, for Duke it's all about special teams, he's not as good as Foster and Roberts. Also comment that if Wallace isn't 100%, then Kevin Johnson takes his spot which then also removes him from ST so doubtful they'd remove both off the field. Kind of similar reasons from Yeldon, ST play. Maybe they decide Duke's play is a big enough boost to the offense to take the chance on weaker ST or find someone else to sit. IMO the most logical would be Kroft or Smith, but Smith for blocking. Maybe if they feel Williams could play Kroft's position. With the nicked up lines on both sides, doubt they'd sit anyone there instead.
