The Super Bowl Halftime Performer Is ...

Well after listening to the video, I'd say I've heard much worse and they've had worse halftime shows than this of late. -
The Super Bowl Halftime Performer Is ...
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to TSNBDSC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
LOL You're assuming they do music?? I just thought they chopped peoples heads off or something. That probably would be more entertaining than some of the people they've had lately. Recall one line I read a couple years back that pretty much summed it up well IMO: "Nothing says American Football like ColdPlay!!" -
Players have to practice to play?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to BillsfaninSB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're talking about practice man? Practice?? Not a game! Not a game! You're talking about practice! We're not talking about the game?? We're talking about practice?? -
Based on how almost every other team that wins the Super Bowl, I'd imagine we'd have the SB hangover and regressed. The Bills also had a reputation in that they liked to party. Likely still would have made the playoffs, maybe even win the division, though Miami was nipping at our heals every year so wouldn't have taken much for them to beat us out for the division. But think at best would have lost in a playoff game prior to SB at least the 2nd year. Admittedly it may have made us hungrier and knew what it takes to win it all in years 3 and 4 and maybe would have won another one. I always felt Marv was the perfect coach to get the team back to the SB every year and avoid burnout in particular since we lost the prior year. But didn't think he was the best choice to actually win the game. I commented one time, switch coaches in the SB and we win the game. Similarly I think Marv would have done worse with the team if they had won the first one.

I tend to disagree with that as he brings a very unique perspective and play set that usually can't quickly be taught to a rookie particularity a low drafted marginally talented one. While you could easily draft a more talented overall player, you won't likely find a rookie that can run all the plays he runs. The one exception may be Isaiah Hodgins, could be he's been told already to shadow McKenzie and learn his role and responsibilities. He actually may have more raw talent than McKenzie so he could be the one cheap asset that potentially step in as a gain.

I live in the alternative reality that speaks English. Apparently you have trouble understanding it. What I was saying is unless you're a big name which McD and Beane were NOT, they would not get big contracts or have bidding wars, so likely RW could have afforded to sign them. I then stated: "if they do well and RW then doesn't want to pay me the going rate for a 2nd contract, can easily leave then and get into a a bidding war." A bidding war with whatever of the other 31 teams wants to then sign them.
-
While I don't disagree with what you said about RW, both Beane and McD were brand new coaches so unless you have some existing cred on your bio like a Chip Kelly or maybe the guy out in Arizona or even a well established coordinator like Kyle Shannahan or Brian Shottenheimer, without that new coaches don't get huge first contracts here or anywhere else for that matter. There are rumors of Dabo leaving Clemson for the NFL(doubt he will IMO) , he'd get top $$ if he did. So likely RW could have afforded to sign them and since there's only 32 head coaching jobs in the NFL, they'd probably still have jumped at the chance figuring if I do well and RW then doesn't want to pay me the going rate for a 2nd contract, can easily leave then and get into a a bidding war.

Was listening to Jordon Palmer this morning on NFL Radio. He commented and asked who is the least athletic QB in the league; answer Tom Brady. So what makes him so good. His take it's not the experience, or the system or other obvious things, but it's that he does the same identical thing every pass play. He commented how if he needs to move to the right, his footwork, etc. is exactly the same every time and that in his opinion what makes him so good for so long. He then talked about how this is something every QB in the league can work on if they want and specifically mentioned Kyler Murrey and Josh Allen. Don't think he was implying those two were terrible in that regard, more that it's just low hanging fruit they can work on to improve even more.

Why didn't McDermott challenge the Davis TD?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So Davis should have been looking at his feet rather than the phylon? That sounds like a smart idea! Without him looking directly down at his feet, how could he tell and even then would be hard to know for certain what part of the bottom of his foot was actually touching the field and what wasn't. There was no recognition by him as to whether he scored or not. Maybe another Bills player trailing the play directly along the sideline could have seen it, but no way Davis could tell. They didn't show the replay until after they came back from commercial after the Bills ran 4 more plays including the field goal. Without a replay, how would anyone know he was in or out. I'll agree McD's replay record isn't very good, but criticizing him for this play is crazy. -
Is the Bills window smaller than thought?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I get it too, but it just seems like the majority of these guys don't ever get to the tier I level or even close once they get paid. -
Bills' O-Line depth is remarkable
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We pretty much went with the same philosophy with the D line too, lots of depth with mid level players, so far hasn't worked out as well there, barring yesterday. Could be with all the off season changes they are only now starting to jell. -

Don't disagree with anything you stated, but would add to it where the problem becomes a huge issue to the point the team can't win, it's not due to giving Brady, Manning, or a Mahommes a huge contract. It's giving huge or close to huge contracts to someone like a Tyrod Taylor or a Tannerhill (though not looking so bad now in Tenn) who is a good QB, but not a superstar that can carry the team on his back. Then you quickly get yourself in trouble. -
Is Tua hype the new Darnold hype?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to whatdrought's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The hype itself could be, but I think the situations are very different IMO I think Darnold was taken about where he should have been drafted and has just under performed badly, though much may not be his fault as much as the team and coaching. He also did produce in college and not on an extremely stacked team. The only knock on him coming out was he has alot of turnovers Tua while basically drafted almost as high, IMO way too high. He just seems more a case of playing on an extremely stacked Bama team that completed or won the national championship every year. Questionable size for the NFL too. So while the hype is certainly there, will be much less surprised if Tua fails than I was with Darnold. Darnold could become another Tannerhill too where he goes to another team and succeeds which really would be a knock on Gase as he was also Tannerhill's coach. Conversely would be more surprised if Tua were to leave Miami in a year or two and did better elsewhere. -

That's rather misleading as likely could also say something like ""No QB before 2015ish ever made $20 million. So a rather small window to look at. Am a bit surprised Brady wasn't making $20 mil, but that's part of the reason he's no longer in NE too. -
Challenge Specialist for McDermott
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Heavy Kevi's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think they are showing replaying on the scoreboard as there was some other game earlier, not even a Bills game, but the announcers were commenting that they could see the coach was looking at the scoreboard screen to decide whether to challenge or not. But even then the scoreboard views come from the TV camera crew provides them. -
Challenge Specialist for McDermott
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Heavy Kevi's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Correct me if I'm wrong, bu they never showed the view of Davis feet until after they had already kicked the field goal. Generally what the views they show on TV are the same as the ones in the stadium and in any coaches booth. The coaches don't have some magical access to call up camera angles at their request, it's all on the TV broadcast to show the other views. There was also no recognition by Davis that "Hey I scored" which isn't surprising as a receiver is going to be looking down at his own feet in a situation like that and to know I kept my heal off the ground. At that point all he was looking at was the flag. As was also pointed out the Bills were in hurry up mode at that point as they wanted to run two bad play calls quickly. If that hadn't been the case, maybe the replay from that angle would have been shown right away. There certainly have been legit times to criticize McD for his challenges, but this time without showing a camera angle, can't see how he's at fault here. -
I'm not saying this in any way as a knock on Allen. I thought the Bills receivers were more wide open all game than Seattle's WR were, meaning it took more perfect throws from Wilson to get the completions. Not too many QB's in the league can make that many perfect throws repeatedly throughout a game. Without all those perfect throws, it may have been a blow out. The Bills WR seemed to always be open as was the case on the first four weeks of the season too. Maybe much of that is a credit to Daboll.

Congrats again Bills fans!
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to JetsFan20's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe! As long as they make the playoffs, then it becomes bast on playoff wins. They could be 8-8, make the playoffs, and win SB, they are then picking #32 -
LOL I did see it, was thinking the name sounded familiar. But could be from somewhere else too??
