Bills rushing - yards before contact
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to BarleyNY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is like Deja Vu all over again as this was also just discussed in an article in today's Athletic. Basically stating the same thing that the issue wasn't all on the RB's. As far as upgrading the interior, wonder how much of season was Mongo not back to full strength, Morse and Ford were both out some too. They did draft a guard and signed a fairly highly thought of FA backup guard so maybe they are expecting more. -
CBS Sports Top 10 NFL HC's

Surprised they rated Sirianni above Salah as everyone seems to be in love with Saleh and he was the sexy hire this season. -
Kind of interesting when you read about the AAFC, 3 teams went to the NFL, Cleveland the most famous but believe also Baltimore and San Fran and the LA team merged with the LA Rams of the NFL. Buffalo almost made it instead of Baltimore, but the size of the city and the weather worked against them *sounds familiar) in deciding.

Did anyone here if he graduated? Unlike Tebow, at least he got an acceptance letter! -
2021 Disaster QB Options
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to ICanSleepWhenI'mDead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While I remember the movie and the whole concept, eventually the one who fought it the most got converted, but don't recall any of the lines or even who was in it. Guess I was too busy watching some of the characters in action. -
2021 Disaster QB Options

I've often said with the speed of the game increasing all around and coaching staffs spending all year working on new schemes and wrinkles defenses getting better all around, the league needs Stepford QB's. Of course they'll want to eventually marry, but there's already an answer there for that. -
Just change the first two words in your title from "Subjectively Speaking" to "Wishful Thinking" and no one can argue with anything you say. Everything you say could happen, but based on everything seen to date it's 100% based on hope. I do agree Basham will have some impact as a rookie and he may become elite in 3 to 4 years, but expecting that to happen as a rookie is just laughable. Bruce Smith was far far from elite as a rookie. Oliver too could have a very good season, maybe even elite, but still somewhat of a stretch at this point based on everything seen. I do agree with one thing you stated that Star would be gone already if it were possible. But then you state: "our Achilles heel last year will now become the heart and soul of this team’s defense" The problem is none of the guys you mention play his position and fill his role on the defense. The one player you don't mention at all is Phillips which is kind of ironic as he's the one guy who could take Star's spot and likely was drafted with that intention, but with his injury 2 years ago, so far we haven't seen that. If that were to happen and Oliver does become the star player he was drafted to be, AND Addison plays at a better level than last season, then maybe the D line overall could become very good to great and a strength of the team this year as the one thing I do think this years team has over 2013 and maybe most teams in the league now is depth. Our backups can beat their backups!
-
Agree they either will need to lighten up on the ST players or let some of these other names go, i.e. D Johnson types. I'd swap out Zimmer for Phillips as they seem to really like Zimmer. The only thing Phillips has going for him is he may be the best backup for Star. Yeah they better stop leaving those banana peels on the locker room floor.
-
Think there will be some trades. Both lines has some talent being let go. Wouldn't shock me if either Addison or Hughes isn't here come September. Do think Zimmer might make it over Harry and do think Obada makes it over Johnson as both play ST and Obada seems to be better pass rusher. Also think there's be two or three players stashed on IR either due to legit injury or not so legit injury so that will help the numbers some.

Why can't they keep their training facility in Orchard Park even with a downtown stadium? Can't see them building a big dome downtown if they were to move there. Don't know who owns the land the facility is on, also leased, regardless I'm sure they could work out a deal for that. I will agree didn't see anything suggesting the new stadium is on the same identical site. Think I did read would take 2 years to complete, that seems awful fast if a tear down needs to occur first in order to build a new one. And then 1 inch of Astroturf was laid on top!!! Field is done!!

What do you expect from our 3rd year players?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sounds like you're assuming all three will be active on Sundays?? Something they've yet to do the past two seasons? I'm hoping they do, but to do that does mean shorting another roster slot. -
McDermott flies with the Angels

I live in Wilmington NC which is an alternative landing site for Air Force One if DC were under siege or something so once a month or so you see the plane down here practicing touch and goes. -

Not sure either of the Ryan Brothers would have fit into the plane. Likely their weight would have slowed the plane down 100 knots or so! -

The last pre-season game was typically played by everyone on the Thursday going into Labor day weekend, so for the team playing the following Thursday night opener, only 7 days in between, for everyone else about 10 days. Final cut downs were on the Saturday of Labor day weekend so by the time a team might sign a cut player, may only have the Wednesday through Saturday to practice. Teams typically game the players off Saturday and Sunday of Labor day weekend too. Now 2 full weeks from last pre-season game till opening weekend and about 12 days from final cut down day with the exception of the two teams playing the Thursday night opener. LOL you could consider it two weeks from last pre-season game as very few if any starters would play in the 4th pre-season game. The question now will that happen in the 3rd game or will most players play in the 3 games at about the same amount as they did prior?

I know everyone has been waiting with baited breath for this to be announced. But what I did find interesting about it and felt was worth a post, the last week of preseason games is the weekend of August 28th/29th. But the first week of regular season games doesn't start to Sept 12th, (excluding the Thursday night game) So two weeks between these two events. That's a new thing and interesting that they are doing that. I just assumed adding an extra week of regular games and cutting a wee of pre-season, they'd still occur back to back. But not this year anyway. I see final roster cut down date is TUESDAY August 31st. So a couple days after last preseason game, but then still ten days before regular season begins. I wonder if this will mean more roster moves occurring?? https://buffalonews.com/sports/bills/bills-to-face-detroit-chicago-and-green-bay-in-nfl-preseason/article_5061e24a-ca05-11eb-817e-2b44e040b423.html

When I first saw this title I thought "who is he, never heard of him" But after reading the article all I could think of was could easily replace Keven's name with Brandon Beane's name and would be a very similar story. Both came from no college playing experience, took collage classes leaning towards a sports oriented future, started as interning with an NFL team, and worked their way up the latter. https://buffalonews.com/sports/bills/inside-the-bills-whats-behind-kevin-megancks-steady-rise-up-the-front-office-ladder/article_6f015da0-c570-11eb-a83a-439334264684.html
