Allen had 21 dropped interceptions last year

If the other top QB's all had around 10, I'd be worried, but many others were all in upper teens, so not much different -
Bills OT Trey Adams retiring
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wonder if his retirement announcement is too late for them to still place him on the Wall of Fame this year, or will he have to wait a year? -
OK but will all three be active on Sundays? Last year they had Singletary, Moss and Yeldon, and Yeldon only was active if one of the other two were hurt. Is Breida that much better than Yeldon to go with all 3 active and even if you feel he is that much better, which position gets one less starting slot? The Bills were very good on ST and had a handful of players who for the most part that's all they did, Roberts, Gillian, Jones, and Matakevich, plus Bass, Ferguson, and the punter. That's alot of roster spots there! Roberts is gone, but will Powell take his spot or will they double up with McKenzie, as that would save one slot. Based on past actions, not so sure they will go with 3 active RB's on Sundays, so for that reason I do think it's feasible to trade him. The other draft day trade I could see happening to would be H Phillips IF they draft a D lineman in 1st round. He or maybe Zimmer are the only two I see with any trade value. But in either case, you may likely only be getting a 5th or 6th back in return.

Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to elijah's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I went with 4, plus throw in 1 or 2 more Sunday 4:25 starts Isn't there a rule stating the max number of prime time games a team can have? Just read the schedule is expected to be released May 13th. -

2017 Draft Trade - Flip The Template?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here's the trade I'd consider making. Overll depends who's there and who they may want: Trade our 1st 30th overall to move down to between 5th to 8th in round 2, that gives us their 2nd round and also pick up a 4th and their 5th all around the 5th through 8th pick each round. I'd then take our own 2nd round pick, plus the 4th round we just picked up to move up to roughly the 20th pick in 2nd round Next take our 3rd round pick plus the 5th we just picked up to move up to around 20th in 3rd round So when all done, have 2nd round picks our own 29th, plus around the 5th through 8th in the 2nd round. Our 3rd round pick would now be around the 20th in the round instead of 29th. We'd still have our 2 5th rounders, plus 6th and 7th round left. Overall dropping about 10 spots overall to start, but then gain around 8 spots in 2nd and 3rd round. Draft value chart balances out for the most part. Other option would be to drop to around 15th in 2n round, and pick up an extra 3rd. -
Bills sign G Forrest Lamp
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Giuseppe Tognarelli's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Are they going to use him as a pulling guard? If so can't want to hear them yell, "Run Forrest, Run!" -
Where's the win/win part when you just gave up your middle LB and a 3rd round pick so tying to find that replacement will be harder. Likely need to get higher than #10 to get him which would require even more draft capitol too. In addition you're giving up all this draft capital in an offense that likes to run 4 WR quite a bit, 2nd most in the league. TE also is a position that takes one of the longest amounts of time to get up to speed in the NFL. Regardless of how good Pitts is, to expect him to be this one year wonder, particularly in an offense with the WR they already have, he's not likely to get 50+ catches as a rookie as while he's busy figuring things out Allen will be throwing to the open WR's

So if a team is going for a 1st down at the 40 yard line, they call a run play, the player momentarily extends the ball out beyond the 40, then pulls it back in and gets tackled at the 39 and 1/2 yard line, do they get the 1st down? I don't believe so, plus too easy for other team to knock ball loose. But at the goal line, once the ball crosses, it's a TD, so the rules are different and as Doc stated, it's a high reward move so there should be high risk attached to it. Not sure how true this is, but have read that Belichick will bench any player who extends the ball. I'd agree with him on that one, too many things can go wrong. The one about playoff teams not signing players cut from other teams not in playoffs, would that have ruled out the Kenny Stills signing? So if a team in the playoffs has some players injured in the last regular season game, they can't sign replacement players who are available? Or does it just mean they can't sign players cut after the other teams final game? If a player had been available prior to the last Sunday of regular season, then he can still be signed??

Before I opened the thread my guess was 1989, the year they lost in the AFC championship game to the Bengals. But maybe whomever lost the NFC championship game had a better record or did the Bills not have a 1st round pick that year resulting from the Biscuit trade?? OK looked it up, they would have had the 30th pick but both their 1st and 2nd round picks were traded to the Rams in the trade mentioned above. They also didn't have a 1st rounder the year prior in the 1988 draft. Throw in Greg Bell, that was a lot to give up for a non QB pick, not sure you'd see a trade like that today. Tunsil went for 2 firsts, but he was an established player. The Bills first draft pick that year, picked 30th in the 3rd round, turned out to be a guy named Don Beebe.

We really don't know if this is true or not. Before the last two off-seasons, Beane needed to do everything he could and throw big money just to attract a guy like Star. This was probably the first time in about 20 years the Bills could attract top players based on the teams standing. But this year there was little to no money available. Lets see what he does in another year when they have money. They did supposedly make a serious run at Watt for big $$ and supposedly also Ertz, but Eagles wanted to much for him. Also doesn't mean he needs to let Milano go to get a big star either in other seasons.

The player and handcuffed to the offense kind of go together. That's who Jackson is and what he can and can't do. He likely will be seeking and getting a contract worth more than $30 mil a year, is he worth it? At that price he will handcuff the team and be surprised if he's good enough to overcome and win with him.
-
So if you were the GM of Baltimore, would you trade Jackson for the #1 overall pick? That would be an interesting decision, trade the MVP from 2 years ago and won was it 10 games this year, the QB who most of the media drools over to be able to pickup Lawrence. Jackson would be the type of player as good as he is/was to still make the trade!

Just read the Bills have 67 players under contract, assuming they keep all 7 draft picks, that likely means they will sign close to 17 more players before training camp starts to get to the league max of 90. Likely the signings with maybe a couple of exceptions will be below the top 51 salaries, so won't affect cap $$'s at all, just lighten Terry's wallet a small bit.

Do the Bills have "their guy" picked out?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with many of the posts in that picking at 30, way too many variables to have "their guy" Even with the Josh Allen pick, likely they had maybe 3 "guys" picked out, Mayfield, Allen, Darnold, maybe even Rosen and felt confident that if they could trade up to the top 5 or 6, one of those would be available as the were really only 2 or 3 teams in the top 8 that really wanted/needed a QB; Cleveland, Giants, and Jets. And the Giants weren't taking a QB. Barring a bunch of trades, the odds were in their favor and not many teams had the draft capital the Bills had that year to as easily move up. In hindsight, the one wild card there was Indy, they didn't need a QB, they were all set with Andrew Luck for years to come. Little did they know one year later he'd be done. I'm sure if they had known, the 2018 draft would have been much different. -
1. If I were a player, would completely agree about no concern over safety. But I'm not, I'm a fan and as some have stated, it's an extra week of football 2. In 1977 people would have stated the same thing, except that time it would only have made 18 years of statistics meaningless as in 1960 they went from 12 to 14 games. I read between 1926 and 1946 they played from eleven to fourteen games so at some point also an odd number. 3. Not true, there 's at least three posts on this thread in favor so to say no evidence just isn't true. Actually you may have been the only person on this thread that is actually against it. You said some polls showed fans were against, I'd take that to mean some polls showed fans were in favor?? 4. Can you give some examples of what the league could do to increase revenue to the level adding an extra week of games could do? The only thing I could think of would be to add an extra bye week so they play 16 games over 18 weeks, but when the league tried to add an extra bye week, they players only would agree if they were paid for the bye week. So how much are the players really against it? 5. Eventually they will go to 18 games so that will solve this concern. As stated above apparently at some point the league played 11 games. I do agree playing different number of home and road games is kind of strange, but guess every other year will balance out. I can recall for a few years in the late 1960's the AFL had a league of nine teams. Actually also happened more recently in the NFL from 1999 to 2002. To me an odd number of teams is even worse. 6. Because to many people an extra week of football is improving the league. OK you don't like the idea, but many will and view this as an improvement adding an extra week of games. I'm sure many people thought going from 12 t o14 and 14 to 16 games was also no good. Safety is a valid concern, but not sure how much adding one extra week changes things. I don't recall seeing a huge spike in injuries per team the during the first week of the playoffs which would be the equivalent of a 17th game

Appears to me he's way overplayed his value to teams. Not only have the Bills let him go, but no other teams appear to be knocking down the doors after him. Sounded a little bit like the Bills wanted him to sign a longer term contract, but maybe he only wanted one year in hopes of cashing in big next year when cap goes up? Do wonder if part of the reason the Bills weren't completely sold on him was the issues with holding and how many times laces were in wrong direction.
