  1. Yeah and think then once they reach an reach an injury settlement, he can't come back to the team that waived/IR'd him
  2. Yeah, I know if he placed on IR then given and injury settlement, he's a FA and can sign with any team except the Bills for the rest of the season. Not sure if waived/injured is considered the same thing and has the same rules or not??
  3. Can he? I know if you're released from IR with an injury settlement, the one team you can not resign with is the team that released you. Not certain if a "waived/injury designation" is completely different or same restrictions?
  4. Well I believe we did get a draft pick for AJ McCarron so anything is possible. If Fromm were released, one of the places higher on his list likely would be Atlanta, (I'm making a big assumption here since he went to Georgia, he's from the south??) so from that standpoint Atlanta could wait us out. The only risk to them is some other team also is interested in him and does instead work out a trade with the Bills beforehand.
  5. I don't think either Kumerow or Stevenson would make it through waivers so to me that point doesn't matter. They both contribute to ST but in a much different way. Unless they keep Powell which to me is very unlikely, they probably would like to have a backup return man to McKenzie if needed on Sundays so that's in Stevenson's favor. However at this point Kumerow IMO brings more to the table as a WR than Stevenson. Considering McKenzie is a return man, they may feel the need to spell him more as the WR. Would they want to use him on 1st down after just returning say a 30 yard punt or kickoff? For that reason, they may want Kumerow. Considering overall how pass happy the team is and their TE spot is not the strongest, to me keeping 7 WR isn't the dumbest idea particularly when you look at how strong the group is top to bottom. Defense can't say, "oh good Davis is out this play, we have the advantage". Believe they led the league in plays with 4 WR's?? Fans have always gone gaga over Duke (Kiko 2.0) but don't recall hearing or reading about the players and coaches gushing over Duke they way they are about Kumerow. There was some, but not at this level from what I recall.
  6. One thing to keep in mind per the rules,is they have to keep 8 active on the game day roster or dress one less player so if only 8 on the 53 that means all must dress even if someone is a little nicked up. Could then require more roster moves then to bring someone up and expose someone else. Having that 9th lineman on the 53 gives them some flexibility there. The only saving grace is Bates can play just about anywhere on the line if needed. Think that rule change a couple years back makes most teams carry nine to be safe.
  7. Agree with most of it except I'd keep Obada over Johnson. If he were on the Bills last year, he'd have led the team in sacks. Or maybe keep both and go with one less LB. Do we really need six LB's when they rarely even play with three on the field other than 1st down? Obada also is playing ST. I'd also be fine with letting T Jones go. Just feel overall they can't keep so many ST aces when they don't contribute to other phases of the game too and expect to improve the roster overall
  8. Injury settlement means he is released and can sign a contract with any team except Buffalo. I thought there may have been a little extra cash involved too.
  9. So are you saying Phillips is on the 53, then gets moved to IR and Butler also makes the initial 53?? No problem with doing any of that but if they both make the final 53 by my count you now have 26 on defense and a total of 54. I counted 3 times. Or is Butler one of these who gets added after the initial 53? Does he have enough years in the league to not be subject to waivers? I think he does??
  10. OK I guess I missed that one. Yesterday watching the Bills game on NFL network, they just kept showing 40 thru 100
  11. So if this is 21 to 30, where's 31 to 40?? Haven't seen that one yet.
  12. Just remember, we haven't had a home game yet!
  13. There were probably threads last year about this time stating the same thing about Bass. WRT Haack the punter, I think the Bills moved on from Bojo for three reasons; He was asking for more money than they wanted to pay him Maybe they did get close on $$, but then he wanted a shorter deal and the Bills wanted a longer commitment from him He was shaky on holding While I agree with you on the punting was less than stellar I can't help but wonder if the Bills were willing to give up some yards on punting in exchange for better holds on kicks. The way this offense looks there's maybe more kicking opportunities than punts. Seems more games are won/lost on made/missed FG's than a long punt return. They do happen, but not as much as the field goals. Plus seems like Haack's issue is distance, not hang time so yeah maybe some yards are given up, but little in returns. I'll also add at this point, Bass has developed good timing with him so would be real hesitant to mess with that as now would be starting over with much less time to both get up to speed and on the same page.
  14. Agree with the first three you listed, not sure if he's behind Thomas or Hamlin?? He likely is only because they drafted Hamlin, will admit Hamlin looked better yesterday.
  15. Certainly a blocked punt would be pretty bad, as long as that doesn't happen, overall I'll take the better holding over less gross yards He's only had one punt ever blocked in his career. LOL Maybe that's his strategy, lull the defense into thinking they're gonna block it, only to end up with a roughing the kicker call instead.
  16. I'd maybe take Trent Edwards 1st 4 games of the 2008 season. At least that was entire games and against first stringers. Even the entire 1st half of that year he looked pretty decent, recall he was starting even get some national props.
  17. Agree with most of your comments, but will add the following WRT Haack the punter, I think the Bills moved on from Bojo for three reasons; He was asking for more money than they wanted to pay him Maybe they did get close on $$, but then he wanted a shorter deal and the Bills wanted a longer commitment from him He was shaky on holding While I agree with you on the punting was less than stellar I can't help but wonder if the Bills were willing to give up some yards on punting in exchange for better holds on kicks. They do happen, but not as much as the field goals. Plus seems like Haack's issue is distance, not hang time so yeah maybe some yards are given up, but little in returns
  18. Agree on Mike Love, think he fits the role of give him some extra time to make another teams roster Disagree on T Thompson, thought he's looks decent Wasn't McCloud the guy with the Int yesterday?? Think I'd hang onto him as maybe he has trade value?? I'd go; Love Howard Devey Hester Powell He also may be able to latch on elsewhere with some extra time Hart is the wild card and to a lesser degree Love, Howard due to injuries in yesterdays game. If some of these are serious may want to hang onto some of these guys for camp bodies the coming week, instead go with positions with the most depth and know they'd be gone by next week anyway. I think a trade gets made with some of our depth guys and pick up a good backup OT. If that happens then think Doyle somehow ends up on season ending IR, same could happen with Hamlin at S On a side note, kind of funny how the system went a few years back with multiple cut down dates, to last could of years only one cut down date, now back the other way. I like it this way better as gives something to talk about other than threads about the upcoming Ertz trade!
  19. I remember the episode clearly, he was getting all kinds of hate mail and threats, etc every week. I also recall after stating every week they'd lose their regular season game, in the Wild card game he reversed himself and predicted they'd win and they did. I was actually recalling that whole thing not that long ago, but the one little detail I didn't remember at all was that it was Paul McGuire. I was thinking all along it was Jimmy the Greek who was the CBS guy back then.
  20. To me what would be worth exploring if I were the Bills is asking Mitch if he'd consider adding a 2nd year extension with the agreement that the Bills will trade him to whomever wants him after this year. But that would net the Bills something in return and in exchange for the extension, give him some extra $$'s this year. Maybe it's half mil signing bonus or something??
  21. I think a guy like Hodgins may end up on IR before making the final 53 as with the WR core the team has, really not a place for him. Based on last weeks catch and this weeks PR, don't think they can risk cutting Stevenson, so think he makes the 53 as the 6th WR. For that matter if a WR were to get hurt, maybe they just go with 5 for awhile then too or likely can find a FA as good as Hodgins to become the 6th WR. I think the same with Doyle. Doubt they want to risk cutting him, but can't see two rookie OT's being the teams only backups there. Another name too is Hamlin. To me though, these are all guys you just put on IR before final 53 and say see you next year! Team has enough depth without them. I believe if you're in the league 4 or more years not subject to waivers. You become a FA once cut. No don't believe so.
  22. You're crazy if you think he's tradable. Maybe if we throw in a draft pick a team that's not going anywhere might take him. Or maybe Addison and Kumerow to GB LOL Trades like that for high priced players rarely happen in the NFL and when they do, they are usually for legit top ranked players. Not for a player that is probably over paid to start with and likely has a year or two left in the tank. I do wish I were a mind reader though. Would love to know if Beane would have re-done Addison's contract if he' have known he was drafting to DE in the 1st two rounds.
  23. He's out there playing with the 2nd and 3rd string for the most part so hard to gauge. I agree he's been less than expected, but not sure they'd want to go with such an inexperienced backup in Williams if one of the main two were to get hurt. I'm also not even sure we'll deviate from the past two seasons game plans and make him active on game days.
  24. I looking at getting tickets too. Jax in early Nov can still be warm so unless you're a sun lover I'd try and get tickets on the west side lower down as that will be the first area in the shade. It appears that's the side behind the Jax bench.
  25. Either the Bills keep an extra WR, or they trade Stevenson, but no way he'll ever make it to the PS based on last weeks catch and this weeks PR for a TD. Has Hodgins come back yet from his injury? Zimmer did return to the game, my guess was a stinger.
