About the coarsest word I'm likely to use is "crap." I'm a retired pastor after all.

They have lots of players on IR, but only players who went on IR after the team made their final cuts to reach a roster of 53 are eligible to be reactivated after 3 weeks. I don't know when all these players went on IR, but it would be extremely difficult for a team to put more than a handful on IR right after they made final cuts. Other teams would recognize the talent of those players, and would start asking the league office to investigate. Players placed on IR before final cut down either have to stay on IR all season or reach an injury settlement with the team and are then released.

The Cardinals are not a bad bet for the NFC Super Bowl representative.

Are we going to be like the obnoxious and unbearable Patriot fans?
BigAl2526 replied to Leonitas's topic in The Stadium Wall
I've already seen signs of Bills fan entitlement/arrogance. When the team you root for is good, it's a fine line between confidence/optimism and snobbishness. I will attempt not to cross the line. -
The Bills have a date with destiny on Dec 12. It’s a reckoning.

The Buccaneers dominated Miami and Atlanta, teams that aren't very good. Otherwise, their margin of victory has been unimpressive. They beat Dallas and New England by 2 points each, and Philadelphia by 6. Only Dallas is a top 10 opponent inn the league. By comparison, Buffalo has the largest average margin of victory in the league. You always have to respect what Brady can do, but Buffalo doesn't have to be afraid of anybody. -
Scouting The Tennessee Titans (Week 6 2021)
BigAl2526 replied to Dont Stop Billeiving's topic in The Stadium Wall
Me too. McDermott probably included a film review of last year's game in team prep for the game next Monday's tilt. In any case, he'll make sure there's no letdown. The Titans are a very different team from the Chiefs. That may be a bigger factor than any let down. Derrick Henry is a load and the Titans offensive line tends to wear down their opponents. The good news is Buffalo is about as deep as any team in the league on the defensive line, and the heavy rotation McDermott uses on the D-line will counter that, and tend to keep the Bills fresh. -
The Bills have the horses to do all kinds of different things, and Daboll has the mind to be able to scheme it.

Penalty Analysis: Bills vs Chiefs

In real time I had a tough time seeing the Tre White PI call with a very critical eye. I think it was pretty likely Kelce was to perpetrator. I thought the Mitch Morse holding call was pretty disgusting too. -
Also, some of the greatest regular season teams in NFL history have gone on to win the Super Bowl. Regular season success is not a predictor of postseason failure. Only one team gets to win the Super Bowl each year, so it's a given that a few very good regular season teams are going to fail in the quest to win the Super Bowl, but you're still better off heading into the playoffs with a record of dominance than having just squeezed in as a bottom end wild card team.

I don't think Beane is in a hurry to make a trade. I don't think he minds havinig an abundance of defensive ends one bit.

Where would Rousseau have gone had he played? [in college in 2020]
BigAl2526 replied to whorlnut's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hard to say. As has been stated, his body type is rare. On the flip side, he didn't test well at the combine. Tough to know what any given GM's priorities might be. -
So, is Andy Reid going to fire Spagnuolo as his scapegoat after the season, and attempt to hire a Bills defensive assistant as their new defensive coordinator?

10/10/21 SNF Gameday Bills @ Chiefs Pregame Thread

I assume the tweet actually means that three hours before the game, Milano was being worked out, rather than Milano had to endure a 3 hour workout. LOL -

Lotulelei has played better this season for the Bills than he has in years, IMO. Still, there is nothing magical about Lotulelei as it relates to the Bills' 3 wins this season. He's one factor in an improved defense. It also helps that Buffalo's schedule has not exactly been rugged so far. Let's see how we all feel on Monday, after the KC game. Yes, I have the Bills picked to win. -
There will be no precipitation in my living room. I'm good. I checked weather.com, and I'm not seeing thunderstorms in their forecast, just steady rain from 7 PM on. While Mahomes has gotten the better of Josh Allen in bad weather games, Josh has had more recent experience with rainy weather, including last Sunday.

Bills sign Taron Johnson to 3 year extension

Another young player the Bills don't have to replace at the end of their rookie deal.. -
I think Daboll understands that being able to run effectively prevents the defense from "over defending" against the pass. Thus, the passing game is potentially more effective. That's why the Bills worked in the off season to make their run game more effective.

Jets give D-lineman with 6 career starts $55m
BigAl2526 replied to 1ManRaid's topic in The Stadium Wall
He's listed on the Jets depth chart as a "DL," but is a starter ahead of Shaq Lawson. Presumably, he's on the outside most of the time He's 6'4" and 288. The bookend is 6'3" and 255 lbs. I presume that means he's a strong side or LDE. That means he'll line up across from Spencer Brown when they play Buffalo. If Brown is as good as he appears to be, and continues to develop, Franklin-Meyers will be all but invisible versus Buffalo. -
I would guess it happens, especially when there is an established relationship. Game tape, Im' sure is much more important. I'm sure the Bills coaching staff has gone over with a fine toothed comb the tape of KC's two losses this season. I'm sure they also endured a painful review of the playoff loss to KC last January.

Geno Smith is proof positive that what we think is true about a young player is not necessarily a lifetime curse. It may also be evidence of the mishandling of Geno Smith when he was a young QB. I am convinced that a significant number of QBs' careers have been ruined by teams that didn't understand how to handle them.

Too early to know when the rain arrives. The daytime is supposed to be dry. Lightning would cause a game delay.

Scouting The Kansas City Chiefs (Week 5 2021)
BigAl2526 replied to Dont Stop Billeiving's topic in The Stadium Wall
Even more important than running the ball on offense is sustaining drives. If the threat of the run opens up the pass, I don't mind Josh passing the ball at all. Don't take a lot of chances when you do it, but don't be afraid of it either. The reality is probably something of a balance between the run and pass. On defense, getting pressure from the front four is essential. -
What a jerk! We all wondered why Josh started the season slow. My theory was that the relative lack of reps in preseason left Josh with some rust he needed to work through. In any case, the trend has been toward improvement over the last 2 games. Realistically, when you have a small sample size (and 4 games is a small sample size) a bad game or two can skew your averages. If Nick Freakin Wright wants to use stats the way he was using them, he needs to wait until midseason. Mahomes may be killing Josh in the stat department right now, but Mahomes has thrown a lot more interceptions in key situations than Josh Allen and is at least as responsible for two losses as Josh Allen is for Buffalo's one loss.
