  1. He's a stabilizer on that D-Line. The difference with him in the lineup vs. out was pretty stark. The contract is right in line with his value.
  2. Everyone said a similar thing about rolling with Bernard as the starter at LB last season. Rapp was mostly fine last season except for the penalties, which are going to have a lot of variance from season to season. Another year in the system and I think he's serviceable as a starter. They'll probably want to invest in another veteran or mid draft pick though.
  3. If they brought in Aaron Jones and signed him to a 2 year deal I'd be happy, but not overwhelmed with joy. When he's healthy he's a real threat, but I wouldn't want to pay big money for him with Cook on the roster already. I said before, I really like him, but he'll probably get a decent paycheck from somebody else. If he wants to ring chase, the Bills might be a nice spot for him.
  4. I really like him but he's had a lot of injury issues. He's probably too similar to Cook though in role to be a RB2.
  5. Kirk Cousins has generated generational wealth. He's a slightly above average QB but a shrewd businessman. Wild.
  6. Yes. It's enough for me to write him off as a backup that I would want on the Bills. Just my opinion though, obviously the Bills disagree. I'm not mad they resigned him, it hopefully will matter little as he won't see play. I would have gone in a different direction, I'll take potential over known bad play at the bottom of the roster all day.
  7. He ran into a punter a game or two after and had a big penalty.
  8. All of them had spectacular plays when they're on the field though. Cam Lewis has really only had lowlights. I get that's harsh, given his position as a backup, but I'd much rather try someone new at this point than give him another shot.
  9. Cam Lewis is probably my least favorite Bill of all the guys on the team who don't see play. I know we shouldn't judge a player by a single paly but the 4th down against Jefferson where he doesn't bat the ball is a cuttable offense. I don't feel good with him taking snaps. I don't understand what McDermott sees.
  10. Given the opportunities he had and the multiple goose egg games with no stats, I'd disagree that he was playing to expectations. He blew up every 3rd-4th game. Too volatile to be relied on.
  11. Look, he wasn't terrible, but he had every opportunity and did not end up producing as expected, or necessarily even to an acceptable level. Good luck to him but this was 100% the right decision to move on.
  12. This was the right decision, for the Bills, not the Jags. I don't know what they're doing. I wish Davis all the success but he had every opportunity here in Buffalo to show he's a #2 WR and it never panned out.
  13. Makes a lot of sense for both sides. It would be really bad to have to change out LT, LG, and C all in a single offseason, and Dawkins has been good to great through his career.
  14. On the surface I can understand where you're coming from. Basically they're paying a little extra to have a guy in the room that already knows the system and that the coaches trust enough to start. The insurance is likely worth it to them.
  15. Kincaid is the obvious answer, had a good rookie season but there's so much untapped potential there. I'm gonna say Benford. He's looked good but with the CB1 position stabilized I think he's going to shine at CB2.
  16. That'd be a lot for the Bills to spend considering the Von Contract, but Chris Jones, Oliver, Rousseau and a healthy Von (just trying to be optimistic here) would be a sight to see.
  17. Really appreciate the response, and the way you laid it out makes sense.
  18. I still want to see some real investment into the position. It feels like we've got a lot of lotto tickets with Shorter, KJ Hamler, Andy Isabella, etc... If one of them hits, awesome, but I don't want to bank on it.
  19. I'm seeing a lot of people mention Chris Jones and that he should be a target for the Bills. I'm not sold that he's worth the enormous contract he's going to get. The biggest positive is that he wouldn't be on the Chiefs, but I'd rather be a spender on the offense.
  20. The player cuts and the Trubisky signing are hardly related, if at all. Almost all the guys they cut outside of Morse should have been cut based on their performance/contract last season anyways. There are other teams losing really good players because they can't afford them. That's not the case with the Bills.
  21. We already found out. They can't hold the lead for the final drive because the defense was too tired. The secondary got absolutely carved to shreds. The problem was never so pronounced when Hyde/Poyer were a bit younger/healthier/faster. We needed to move on and get more youthful energy into that position. I think it's going to help the "defense can't hold on to the lead their given" narrative that we saw play out all last season. EDIT: And by the way, the rest of the league thought about Poyer the same way I'm describing him, but last season. He slunk back to the Bills after getting no enticing offers in FA.
  22. The Steelers whole offense was a mess and Matt Canada was arguably the worst OC in the NFL. I'm not saying Mitch is a top tier backup, but I'm also gonna say that in the scope of what really matters for Bills W/L it's pretty unimportant.
  23. I'd be mad if he kept them all. This isn't a knock on Poyer, Hyde, White or any of the others, because I appreciate the awesome plays they made and what they contributed over the years, but they all needed to go. We have to get younger. I'm not saying the guys that were cut would be holding us back next season, but they certainly wouldn't be pushing us to another level.
  24. Totally. Douglas played at an extremely high level for us last season, arguably better than White ever has. Poyer/Hyde were awesome but the age caught up and they were playing at a baseline acceptable level last season. You don't pay 8 million for acceptable. Neal, Hines, Harty? Basically losing nothing. Morse is the only contributor that can't be obviously replaced, but it seems like they have a plan. They must have seen things from Edwards and McGovern that makes them think this move makes sense. They can draft a lineman early-ish too and I don't think anyone will be that upset.
  25. I think the signing is fine, have the details been leaked yet? We know the max is 3years / 15 mil but how much of that is incentives? I think the Bills can still get one of these guys for a 1 year value deal and draft a safety in a later round too.
