  1. I sure hope you're right. Neith Clark nor Hughes is an all-pro, but they're both very good. Add a guy like Wilkins, Oliver, McCoy or Suh and we'd have a DL as good as anyone. It wouldn't be as good as that DL we had a few years back with Mario, Hughes, Kyle and Dareus (before he hit the snooze button) but it would still be really good. A DL like that could really make a difference in the W/L column. We could bring heat without a lot of blitzing.
  2. He's no better than what we already have. I see no reason to give anything up just to stay even.
  3. I don't think a 3 year rebuild is too much. A lot depends on where you start. Besides, his first 2 draft picks (Allen and Edmunds) have a long way to go and I don't know that Allen has what it takes to bring us the Lombardi trophy. He's an incredible scrambler, but his passing ability, m'eh.
  4. Exactly. The DL is the only unit that has taken a step backwards since last season ended and I believe that elite defense starts with a dominant DL. Kyle is gone. Both Shaq and T Murphy are merely adequate. This is the best DL draft class in a while. I'll be stunned if Oliver is there at 9 and they pass on him.
  5. There is no unit on this team that is below average right now except QB and DL. We are in a perfect position to just go BPA. That said, I'd like a beast to replace Kyle and another OL as well as Lo's replacement and a good pass rusher, but we can just let it fall to us.
  6. Long was terrible last year and has only been average when healthy in recent years. Feliciano has never won a starting job, even in Oakland. I'm very worried if those are our starting G's. I'm not even sure that's as good as Miller and Ducasse. Just because we have new G's doesn't mean they are better. Also, don't believe the other posters who say Teller is terrible. He wasn't all that bad and could have a pretty good sophmore season. Look at the scouting reports on him. I don't watch NCAA anything, but he appears to have no real weaknesses. Heck, even Superman has his kryptonite.
  7. Thank you. I mean, seriously... We have a thread for Allen is not inaccurate or I'm gonna take my ball and go home. Another predicts that he'll be the MVP in 2019. PFF, meanwhile, exposes him as the least accurate starting QB in the NFL. At least they stopped short of exposing him as the reason KB wanted out of Buffalo. I'd also like to see a couple things from Edmunds that I haven't seen yet -- 1. A mean streak. I mean, he's a 255 lb MLB and he hits like a cheerleader. 2. Much better instinct and ability to diagnose plays more quickly. OK, let's make it 3; An ability to shed blocks much more quickly. Allen can be a good QB, but he'll never be elite. I fear the same may be true of Edmunds, but he has a better chance. Edmunds has the physical tools. Allen has an inaccurate arm and that's something I've never seen fixed. Our OL is improved from disasterous to average. Our WR corps has improved from disinterested to almost average. 7 wins seems quite reasonable at this point.
  8. If, by modern, you mean pass first, I hope not. Our QB is the top running QB except maybe L Jackson and his aim is consistently off. I think a run first approach makes a lot more sense.
  9. He'd be a day 2 pick. Or I think he'd go to the Ravens with the last pick in the 1st because Lamar Jackson would go much sooner. Rosen would also be a day 2 pick.
  10. I miss Sully. TBN Sports got a lot less interesting after he left.
  11. At this point, I see modest improvement so 7 wins sounds about right. If they don't get a stud of a DT to replace Kyle, I could see the defense falling out of the top 10. I think they were a bit overrated anyways and I think the Jets are a better team right now. I'm not assuming that there will be significant progress by Allen or Edmunds until I see it on the field. The one area where I do expect improvement is in the run game. I think Gore will be a bigger contributor than many people realize, even at age 35. We still have not addressed our run defense or pass rush which could hold us back. Having a QB that throws more picks than TD's will be problematic as well.
  12. At #9?! I think he's a late 1st round pick... maybe. I saw that mock at nfl.com that had us taking him at 9 with BOTH Ed Oliver and TJ Hockenson still on the board. I'd throw a fit if that happened! I want to stay at 9 and get a game changer and I read several draft profiles on Dillard that had a long list of weaknesses. Chief among them was his run blocking. His bench press at the combine was a real red flag too.
  13. Just the opposite. They are signing guys in the above avg to decent depth range. I think the draft will be all abot trying to find potential 'difference makers'.
  14. He's an above average G. This signing would make very happy. Solid pass protector. I don't know what to make of Long. Everyone seems to think he's the starter, but I'm not so sure about that. I also think everyone is giving up on Teller too easily. In any case, i's looking like they'll stay put at 9 and get Kyle's replacement, imo.
  15. I say yes because he showed improvement last year and I'd like to see if he can continue to do that. He has ample physical attributes that point to success. I just worry that we might sign him to a new deal in 2020 and he'll hit the snooze button like Darius did.
  16. I thought he was only worth keeping for fake FG's and punts.
  17. Looks like I'm with a solid majority for once. I'm not the draft expert, but I don't see Lindstrom making it out of the 1st round.
  18. I'm not hating on Beane, but it's been a mixed bag so far. 1. Whaley passed on Mahomes so I'm not blaming 'McBeane ' as some mistakenly do. 2. The jury is still very much out on both of last year's 1st round picks. They still have a very long way to go. 3. Day 3 and the UDFA's may, in the long run, outperform Allen and/or Edmunds. Not good. 4. Last year's FA crop didn't impress me much so I reserve judgement on this year's group.
  19. I'd rather sign Suh for a year or any FA and wait until next year instead of drafting a tier 2 or 3 DL this year. Great defensive lines really help in the win column, esqecially when you don't have a great QB (which we don't). Compomrise somewhere else.
  20. I'd like to say that I was born a Bills fan, but I'm older than the franchise. My Dad was an early season tickets holder, so I spent many childhood Sundays watching guys like Jack Kemp, Cookie Gilchrist, "Golden Wheels" Dubenion, Ron McDole, Pete Gogolak, Paul Maguire, Mike Stratton, Billy Shaw, OJ Simpson and Butch Byrd play. Great memories.
  21. I don't like any of this year's OT's at 9. Maybe if we trade back into the back half of the 1st round we could get good value for one. Just take BPA. I hope it's Ed Oliver. Then maybe we get a good value at OT in round 2. There are a lot of good OT's in this draft, but no great ones. I'd like Lindstrom too -- great technique and no real weaknesses in his game.
  22. They're both young. That's pretty much it as far as football is concerned.
