  1. I like the enthusiasm, but I still have reservations. We signed good players in FA, but not game changers by any means. I also need to be convinced that Josh Allen can throw with enough accuracy that we can beat the heavyweight teams consistently and frankly, I doubt we'll ever get that from him. You either wake up with that kind of arm accuracy or you don't and there is no question that he doesn't. How that will change, I have no idea. Best post so far. You are exactly right. It still depends on whether or not Allen can hit the side of the proverbial barn with his throws. I'll need to be convinced.
  2. Why? He just isn't that good any more. He wouldn't even be much of an upgrade over Murphy or Shaq at this point. Pass.
  3. I want Oliver too, but I seriously doubt Beane is trading up for anyone this time around. You never know, though. He moved up twice in round 1 last year, though I really don't think he needed to trade up to get Edmunds. He'd have been there a while longer, IMO.
  4. It's the strongest 'top 10' position overall. I'd be ecstatic if we landed Ed Oliver.
  5. 1. Hughes is better, so unless they plan on moving Hughes or Ansah to LE, this makes no sense. 2. Ansah isn't appreciably better than either Shaq or Murphy at this point anyways, so why bother? 3. Clowney is MUCH better than Ansah. Get real. 4. We still need someone to replace Kyle. I want Ed Oliver if possible.
  6. ALL fan bases. We're no different. Besides, I'm sure nearly everyone understands it's just a rumor.
  7. Why not trade Murphy or Shaq as part of the deal. I still want Oliver in the 1st. Someone has to replace Kyle and right now, I don't think either Phillips can do that.
  8. Now draft Irv Smith Jr. in the 2nd and we are all set at TE. Smith played at 'Bama so Daboll would love that pick. Kroft is not known as a strong blocker, but Smith is an exceptional blocker and route runner with soft hands. Doesn't have a 2nd gear, but still can run by LB's well enough. If we took Oliver in the 1st too, it would be a great draft.
  9. Not sure what they see in this guy. He's not that good. Very poor overall body strength for a G. Better introduce this guy to the strength and conditioning coach right away. No way he makes the starting lineup even if we don't sign or draft any more interior OL.
  10. He's a bit below average. 32 years old. Better than Mills by a fair amount. Good awareness. Average run and pass blocking skills. Some injury concern, but he should be ready to go now. My guess is that D Williams' knee is a concern or he's holding out for crazy money and Beane is not going to chase. Otherwise he would have been signed by now, right? I have no other information on him right now. Maybe somone else is expected to sign him? I excpect Nsekhe to start at RT as we develop his eventual replacement and go DT in round 1 (Oliver!). OT , TE or G in round 2? Not a great signing, but a decent one since this was a weak OT FA market.
  11. There are always so many guys with issues in FA. Injuries, character, excessive pay demands, etc. It seems Beane is willing to take a chance on guys with injury concerns over guys with character concerns like laziness.
  12. After reviewing, Morse is an above average C and has been hurt a lot over the last 2 years. The rest of the guys we signed are backups and don't figure to get a ton of snaps except maybe Kroft who figures to be the #2 TE if we draft a TE on day 1 or 2. Otherwise, I see TE as a concern going forward. I like Frank Gore as a backup. He's a grandpappy in NFL years, but he can still play as well as many other RB's 10 years younger. He was Miami's best RB last year at age 34 or 35. He has exceptional awareness of what's going on around him which has kept him productive and healthy for a long time. Tyrell Williams is an above average WR and a lot of other teams with solid rosters and proven QB's are probably pursuing him. John Brown has already turned us down once. Daryl Williams is coming off a knee injury. I'm guessing he can still play reasonably well and he's the only starting caliber OT left in FA. Considering the fact that he was a 2nd team all-pro in 2017 and may not be resigned, I am very concerned about that knee. OT, G, WR and DT remain major concerns. Edge rusher is a concern, but Hughes is very good and the both Murphy and Shaq are solid, but not great. I consider DT the much bigger concern right now. We need to start playing better against the run. Ndomukong Suh and Sheldon Richardson remain unsigned, but come with concerns. There are still a few good edge rushers available. There are some average-ish WR's that remain unsigned. Trading back is starting to look like an option, but that's always easier said than done.
  13. There are no edge rushers left in FA that could improve on Murphy or Shaq. Hughes is better than a lot of Bills fans think he is. Even if we don't draft an edge rusher in the 1st or 2nd round, adding a guy like Ed Oliver would still improve our pass rush and we could be a lot worse off at DE overall. I could even see Oliver at LDE in passing situations.
  14. I hope we sign Williams and Humphries so we can draft BPA at 9 because I think that will be a DL. Absolutely! A team named Bill needs a William.
  15. An upgrade at the #4 CB spot. He'll backup TJ in the slot and be the 3rd outside corner in dime packages.
  16. He's 32 and still better than any of our DL, but he's at a point where his skillset will probably begin diminishing fairly rapidly.
  17. Average WR. Not great speed. Soft hands. Not a big RAC threat. Good run blocker for a wideout. Fairly good route runner on short and medium routes. Not a deep threat. Four year vet. Has improved his stats each year in the NFL. Had 800 yard season in 2018. Hopefully he will continue to improve.
  18. But if we could get Green for a 2nd and next year's 3rd, I'd be all over that. You're probably right, though. I doubt he'd come that cheaply. In your scenario, on the other hand, we'd be without a #1 WR and I don't really agree that would be a "very strong" WR corps. It would suffice, though. I'd be OK with that if we grabbed 1 or 2 more solid OL and ran the ball a lot more. Also, I'll be surprised if either Brown or Williams come to Buffalo.
  19. I think with a new RT, C and #1 WR, we'd take Ed Oliver. I have no inside info, but Beane seems to really like physical freaks like Edmunds and Allen. Oliver is just that. Just a guess, though. In round 3, using your scenario, we could go OL or TE or RB or WR. I'm hoping they will be looking for guys with solid ST credentials on day 3.
  20. Too bad. He would have been our best OL by a mile. I don't see any G's in FA that are in his class either. Slightly above average???
  21. I can already see that 2019 will not live up to the expectations of many posters. Allen has terrible accuracy. There are no really good WR's, DT's or TE's available in FA. Beane's 1st and only draft looks pretty mediocre so far. I do expect the Bills to be improved in 2019, but only by a little bit.
  22. Seriously? He used a pair of 1dt round picks on a QB that can't throw straight and a MLB that's very questionable as well. He's had only 1 draft and he paid Lotulelei twice what he's worth. The most optimist answer I can give at this point is "Wait and see." At this point, it doesn't look very good for him. Why are some people STILL crediting "McBeane" for the 2017 draft when Whaley and his scouts owned it? Beane wasn't even hired until AFTER that draft and McDermott didn't run it. SMH...
  23. The Raiders only gave up a 3rd and a 5th? The Steelers will be lucky if they even get an average starter out of those picks. I'm very surprised Beane turned that down.
  24. Perhaps Beane asked for a letter of intent from AB and couldn't get it. Just a guess, but in a trade of this magnitude, I think that would be a smart move.
  25. I think a couple teams will go for a QB and we'll go BPA and get Kyle's succesor Ed Oliver. If they go WR, my bet is Metcalf. If they go OT, maybe Taylor or Williams. I suspect they will sign an OT and C in FA and get Oliver, then draft a WR (Campbell?) in the 2nd. I think we'll have trouble getting FA WR's to come to Buffalo until Allen can start placing the ball more accurately so they aren't always having to adjust so much to catch it. I also suspect that K Benjaman and C Clay were discouraged by this as well and just wanted out. Bottom line, we have to run the ball way better in 2019 because we aren't going to win many games with Allen throwing 30 or more passes. We must become a run first offense and be able to move the chains.Allen can give us a few spectacular plays with his legs and strong arm, but you can't put your offense on him like you can with Brady or Mahomes.
