What do you want to see this offseason: Free Agency
GreggTX replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We need better depth at LB and CB. I'd like to find Kyle's replacement (McCoy?) because H Phillips wasn't all that impressive. I'll be surprised if we don't try to get help at RB and/or TE. I hope we can get Paradis or an upgrade for Miller. -
Don't bother reading the rookie grades report on Buffalo in this series. He doesn't even mention Wallace, who graded out higher than any rookie on our roster. Clearly the author (Nick Shook) didn't do his homework.

Would you trade a high 2020 draft choice for AB?
GreggTX replied to njbuff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he were a better person, yes, but he's not. -
Miller is a tweener-- not a very good starter, but a great backup. It all comes down to money.
-
Yes they would and any division with the Pats would have looked worse because those teama would have been absorbing all of those losses that the Bills fins and jets were. I do think, however, that the rest of the AFCE has been highly QB deficient for a ridiculously long time and it remains to be seen if any of the other teams (Bills, fins and jets) Have found the right guy. In the mean time, Brady is rightly considered one of the best, if not the single best QB ever.

Bill Polian on Bills coaching and more....
GreggTX replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good points. It's just too bad that both the draft and the FA market favor defense when our greatest need is offense. -
Why do people hate defense so much? I LOVE watching a good defense in action. I don't care if the Bills are winning games while only scoring 17 points per game. In fact, it would be even sweeter in this time when all the rule changes have favored passing offenses.

Bill Polian on Bills coaching and more....

I agree that McDermott, Frazier and Daboll have had better results, but I'm going to have to see what Beane can do now that he's dumped the overpaid players and has cap space to work with. Too bad this isn't a better year for FA's on the offensive side of the ball. No doubt Beane will make at least 1 mistake -- All GM's do, but this will be quite a test for him. -
Does Brady finally hang it up now?
GreggTX replied to blacklabel's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think this 6th SB win will only whet his appetite for #7. Right now, the Pats are tied with the Steelers for most SB wins and you know what they say about a tie, right? -
Could the Bill's end up with 2 first rounders?
GreggTX replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, Beane isn't shy about making draft day deals and most of the top players are on defense. Still, we need a stud at DT and we were 26th in sacks despite a great season by Jerry Hughes. I think it more likely that they let someone move up for a QB and slide back just a few places and grab an OT or WR rather than slide all the way down to 20-something. Who knows what they'll do? -

The following year, the Bills would travel to San Diego's Balboa Stadium and defeat the Chargers again (23-0) for their 2nd consecutive AFL Championship. Argue all you want, but to me, no accomplishments since can rival these back to back championships. There's just something about being the last team standing when all the dust settles that the Bills have never experienced since the mid 60's.

Ouch! I agree with some that say H Phillips hasn't proven himself. I'm thinking a guy like Oliver that you could move around would be a good fit. I like to forgive youthful transgressions, but Simmons sounds like too much risk and a lot of bad publicity. He doesn't sound like a McBeane kinda guy to me.
-
I don't know why Simmons wasn't invited to the combine and we can't afford to pass up good offensive talent, but if Simmons is there at #9, how can they pass? That said, most of the top talent in the draft and FA is on defense. We need to be very aggressive going after OL and WR talent right out of the gate on March 13 like when Buddy was standing on Mario's front porch at 4:00 with a private plane waiting nearby.

I really think that teams should get a bye week right before a Thu nite game. It could be done and would make for better games. It would also be easier on the players. I'd love to see the Bills on Thanksgiving -- after a bye.

I am one of the few that enjoys watching a good defense.

The Phantom Hold and why the NFL is dying
GreggTX replied to Estelle Getty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nitpicking. Sorry you're so upset about the Patriots winning another SB. The NFL is not dying. -
Draftniks: Name your 2019 Draft "Crush"
GreggTX replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we stay at 9, I think Marquis Brown or any DT ranked top 10 that falls to us (Simmons?). I think we'd want to trade down a few spots to get a LT or trade back up into the 1st round where there should be plenty of good value for any one of several OT's. We could go in any number of directions depending on what we do with all that FA money. I'm a little concerned about Brown's size (5'10", 168lbs.) and ability to take the punishment, but there's no denying his ability to make game changing plays. -

Belichick takes McVay to school. 29-13 Patriots. Pats D solid all day. -
Tyrod Taylor has 'nothing but love' for Buffalo
GreggTX replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why are people upset about this statement? He's not singling you out. Just telling it like it is. People see this as "the race card" and all they can say is shut up about race? Why? I think we should talk about it more, not less. You can't fix problems by ignoring them or pretending they don't exist even if you personally are not actively engaged in creating that problem. Get over yourself. -
No team ever plans to tank. People lose jobs and negotiating leverage when they do. That said, I'm sure the Pegulas were willing to give Beane and McDermott a pass on 2018 while we "took our medicine".

How Does a Bills Loss Affect Your Life?
GreggTX replied to Billsfanatic8989's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
After enduring 477 losses over the past 59 years, I've learned to just move on with my life. I can't control it, so why let it control me? Which is better than not being able to get up at all. -
Potential Bubble players from Spotrac
GreggTX replied to BarleyNY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lotulelei was definitely overpaid, but they'd take on a lot of dead money if they got rid of him and they wouldn't get much in return. They've already talked up Shady, so I kinda doubt they move him. I don't think they'd get much for him anyways. Ivory is a real possibility. -
Saquon Barkley wins Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year
GreggTX replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Saquon Barkley, Mayfield and Vander-Esche were definitely the top 3 rookies IMO.
