Nonsense. He's inaccurate. Aside from the eyeball test, PFF did an extensive study and Allen ranked at the bottom of NFL starting QB's. You can fool yourself all you want, but it doesn't change facts. That said, every other aspect of his game is strong except reading defenses, which he'll get better at. If he can improve his accuracy at all levels (short, medium, long) he could be very good.

I didn't realize his knees were so bad. He was considered a top 5 TE when we first signed him. Too bad we couldn't get a pick for him. We have so many holes to fill on this roster now! It's ridiculous. I can't see how we can fill most of them in just 1 offseason. I'm thinking we probably won't be competitive before 2020 at the earliest. We need multiple WR's, multiple RB's, multiple TE's, multiple OL, Kyle's replacement, another CB, Lorenzo's replacement, a punter and a few ST aces. 2021 maybe?

Marcell could be the best DL in the NFL if he wanted it bad enough. What a shame. He'll regret it some day that he didn't get it together when he had the chance.

I didn't realize he was that old! See any other potential targets for us?

Will we see a Tyrod - Roman pairing again?
GreggTX replied to IgotBILLStopay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Perhaps not. After all, he has played in a probowl. Even most established starters haven't done that. -
A front page article at nfl.com lists some very intriguing names as potential FA's. Sorry for no link. I'm posting this on a PS4. Two of the more intriguing names were Donald Penn (OT, Raiders) & Malik Jackson (DT, Jaguars). I'd LOVE to see Penn in a Bills uniform in 2019, fully recovered from his hamstring injury. I'm not sure what the problem was with Jackson last year, but we certainly have a huge void at DT right now. Any others that you really like? Parker? Amendola? Kirkpatrick?

What do you expect from Trent Murphy in 2019?
GreggTX replied to GreggTX's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't see any noticeable improvement over the course of the season. What do you base that claim on? I think having a rookie at DLE with Murphy and Shaq gone is a real possibility if we sign a guy like Gerald McCoy and a really good pass rusher falls to us at #9, but I really think we'll be going after a WR or LT in the 1st round. -
I was dissapointed that he didn't play better or hit doubl digit sacks, but historically, many guys ned more than 1 year to recover both physically and psychologically from such a serious injury. Besides, he wasn't that bad -- just average, really. He's still relatively young too.

T Williams and C Patterson are pretty good receivers and elite return men. To me, that's killing 2 birds with 1 stone even if they aren't #1's. They'd still be valuable additions. Brown would be a nica addition too. If we could sign Brown, G McCoy and Williams, we could really focus on the OL in the draft.

Is Dion Dawkins better at LT or LG

Looking Back I wish we traded for Mack
GreggTX replied to BillsFan1988's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the 2018 Bills had been a real heavyweight contender and were looking for that 1 win now guy to put them over the top, then the Mack trade would have made sense. However, we are still rebuilding and I'd much, much rather keep those 2 first round picks for now. To me, the best teams have an elite QB and a roster with very few, if any, holes even if they don't have many probowl caliber guys. Let's get McCoy and Allen going first. -
Kipers predictions for last year Round 1
GreggTX replied to Da webster guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You are correct, OP. The odds of getting even half a dozen 1st round picks right are ridiculously small, but there's nothing else for NFL fans to do this time of year, so the mocks will continue. And there will be that 1 in a million guy that will nail a bunch of those picks and spend the rest of the year bragging about it to his friends in his fantasy football league. -
What do you want to see this offseason: Free Agency
GreggTX replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hope Gerald McCoy is available to replace Kyle. I know he's on the downside of his career, but maybe he could give us good value for a 3 year deal. -
What do you want to see this offseason: DRAFT
GreggTX replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1. Our new starting LT (move DD to RT.) 2a. Our new starting C (unless Long reaches a new level). 2b. Explosive playmaker at WR. 3. ST help on day 3 like an elite returner, better punter and solid open field tacklers. Build around Allen and definitely build up the OL to get McCoy going again. I think we can replace Kyle in FA. -
Bills sign C Spencer Long to 3 year deal
GreggTX replied to One Buffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Both of our starting G's are better than Groy and Bodine. If he can't beat out Bodine, he'll be riding the bench. Coaches always talk up players if the player in question is trying. Only guys like Darius get trashed by them. -
Bills sign C Spencer Long to 3 year deal
GreggTX replied to One Buffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not even sure that he's any better than Bodine, Groy, Miller, Ducasse or Teller, but OK. I hope the deal gives us an easy out if he doesn't return to where he was at in 2017 when he was average. He was terrible last year, but he may have been playing hurt. I don't know. His profile doesn't mention any injuries. 5ty year out of Nebraska. Drafted by 'skins 3rd round 2014. 6'5" 318 lbs. We still need to draft a C/G in round 2, IMO. -

What do you want to see this offseason: TRADES
GreggTX replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Trades aren't at the top of my wish list. I don't want to give away any day 1 or day 2 picks. -
What do you want to see this offseason: Free Agency
GreggTX replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We need better depth at LB and CB. I'd like to find Kyle's replacement (McCoy?) because H Phillips wasn't all that impressive. I'll be surprised if we don't try to get help at RB and/or TE. I hope we can get Paradis or an upgrade for Miller. -
Don't bother reading the rookie grades report on Buffalo in this series. He doesn't even mention Wallace, who graded out higher than any rookie on our roster. Clearly the author (Nick Shook) didn't do his homework.

Would you trade a high 2020 draft choice for AB?
GreggTX replied to njbuff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he were a better person, yes, but he's not. -
Miller is a tweener-- not a very good starter, but a great backup. It all comes down to money.
-
Yes they would and any division with the Pats would have looked worse because those teama would have been absorbing all of those losses that the Bills fins and jets were. I do think, however, that the rest of the AFCE has been highly QB deficient for a ridiculously long time and it remains to be seen if any of the other teams (Bills, fins and jets) Have found the right guy. In the mean time, Brady is rightly considered one of the best, if not the single best QB ever.

Bill Polian on Bills coaching and more....
GreggTX replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good points. It's just too bad that both the draft and the FA market favor defense when our greatest need is offense.
