  1. It better help him turn the corner or hit the hole faster... that is his problem! Quick burst and decisiveness is what I want to see. He isn’t a fullback. That being said he should break more tackles this year looking like that.
  2. My comment is they could have drafted someone like the Alabama kid in round 2 who could have started at guard ( win now) and played center next year (save money.
  3. I still think this was a draft where we took a real short term risk. We bet heavily on future potential with our first and third round picks in a year where we are built to win it all. KC got better but did we surpass them? On paper it doesn’t feel like it, unless Rousseau hits his potential faster than some expect. I think part of my skepticism is how AJ contributed very little year one. I trust Beane and hope he hit on the top 3. The rest are gravy practice squad players and a possible returner to me. My big hope is we get KC very late in the season so we get these kids time to play. We need to beat KC.
  4. This might be the first thread where I actually didn’t know the player was even on our team....
  5. I think Harry gets cut instead of Zimmer if their play in Camp in ‘21 is the same as it was last year. Harry’s contract is up after this year and he didn’t look good in ‘20.
  6. Chris not disagreeing just saying most scouts say Rousseau is still a “ project” which mean wait another year or two for the big payoff. I think teams will use Rousseau’s inexperience and kill us with misdirection, draws and other things when he is on the field. You can’t substitute game experience. Let’s just hope we get the Chiefs late in the year...
  7. Actually I will bet you it’s more likely that giant OT we just drafted in round 3 is more likely to catch a pass first than groot..... but the two together ought to be special teams FG blocking dynamos!!
  8. Agreed and personally I think Harry is below average and should not be Re-signed next year unless he improves this year. So they better find someone in next year’s draft.
  9. I think both could but I don’t know how much. Rousseau is very raw and has so little game experience and much of it was tossing guards around at age 19. I don’t know how well that will translate initially. He might need another year to affect the team much. Basham may have more immediate impact. I fear the Bills may not put them on the field enough to get them that experience...kind of like Epenesa who basically useless for half a year and basically a non factor in last years defense as a whole. They need to commit to all 3 of these guys more. I don’t know if they will. So my point is all 3 top picks may not impact our results much in ‘21, which means we may have missed an opportunity in ‘21 to take a shot at a SB.I hope I am wrong and they contribute early but it is a huge risk. It sure feels like KC widened the gap on us.
  10. Everything I read said this guy was a hard worker who was basically lacking high athletic traits and that is why he was getting drafted where he was. So this is a guy you are basically hoping can overcome lack of immense talent with technique and anger... sound like Feliciano... no thanks. The “fairly athletic” is not what major scouting reports say. They say “sufficient” “durable” “ lacks footwork” so this guy likely doesn’t make the team. He might be lucky to even get in the practice squad.
  11. Should and will. The question is what will his next deal look like. I would only make it a 3-4 year deal at most.
  12. This was my main problem with this years draft in general. All of our top 3 picks have a lot of potential but most scouts talk about our picks being 1-3 year project guys. Well we are in win now mode so I don’t want this to be a throw away year because we didn’t add talent that helps us immediately. We could have added an immediate starter on OL at Guard or at least a likely next year’s center in round 2-3 because those guys were available, but we didn’t. So if we take a step backward this year we can blame the front office. It’s a risk.
  13. From a Browns vs us standpoint, this is the key. QB advantage for us over the Browns is immense. So is play calling. Plus nowhere so you mention the large upgrade of Sanders over Brown and yes it is a large upgrade. Brown was not really a factor after the first 3 weeks. I think our off-season is far from over. I fully expect us to to sign Sherman at CB or another well known veteran. It’s the only logical reason we did very little to upgrade the position. From a Chiefs standpoint I feel we have lost another half step to them. We truly need our 2 defensive ends to contribute mightily. I hope we don’t play the Chiefs until late in the year so we can have our full blown pass rushers by then.... we have to beat them in the regular season game if we want any chance at that bye.
  14. Here is what SI’s senior draft analyst said about him Rousseau is an extremely long edge defender who wins through blockers at extension with his hands rather than with speed and bend. He is a solid run defender and a solid athlete. As a player that is young, new to the position and still filling out his frame, he is very raw and will need a multi-year development plan before he can reach his very high ceiling. Rousseau projects as a developmental pass rusher who could possibly be dominant by his second or third year in the league as he has unblockable written all over him due to his power and length if he can learn how to convert speed to power. He is a risky pick who will not be a contributor out of the gate, but could pay off massively for the team that drafts him down the line. So based on our anemic pass rush I am OK with having a guy that can be lined up to rush from all over the defensive line that can cause some havoc and has a long reach and is athletic enough to chase QBs down... it’s a risky pick but certainly no worse than AJ was last year. Now let’s get us a CB2 and a future Center/ Guard on day 2.
  15. Way to go Bears now if Pittsburgh can trade ahead of the Pats it forces the Pats out of the cheap QB race!!!
  16. 40 times don’t equal production...just go get John Ross for a bag of doughnuts. He runs 4.19 but never put it together. Its more about burst and ability to accelerate in those first steps after that first move than that flat out 40 time.
  17. Going up 11 spots is never happening for a 3rd round pick. We would have to give up our 2nd and maybe more if teams smelled desperation. That isn’t happening.
  18. First off the Eagles boards think the Bils might give a first rounder for him. There is no way we ever give more than a 3rd rounder for that Re-tread because of his age and albatross contract. Unless he learns to rush the passer he is a no go at that price tag. We just don’t have the future $.
  19. Fully agree. Devin seems like a slightly above average back at best. I highly doubt we will be jumping at a chance to give him a second contract at anything but a bargain deal. He doesn’t make many miss in a phone booth like the great ones do.
  20. Day 2 Crush is Landon Dickerson... time to replace Morse and I think he may be that man. He can slot guard this year if Cody fails (and we can possibly trade Cody for a pick outright) or Cody just moved to a swing player. Then move Landon to center next year. Day 3 Crush is OT Iowa -Alaric Jackson a first team big ten left tackle who probably projects as an NFL guard for us. Versatility to play multiple spots ! i expect the other day 1 and day 2 spots to be edge, cb, or rb.
  21. Sorry but no way would we have telegraphed this pick 2 days before the draft. My take? We think he is overrated, so we want the Jets to take him so we can exploit his weaknesses. Harris is a better back IMO. Etienne is Reggie Bush.
  22. We are in win now mode, I don’t want another Derrick Burroughs.... pass..
  23. The Pats are using Jimmy G as a backup plan. They want the Niners NOT to deal Jimmy G just in case the Pats don’t get the draftee they want, that’s why. If the Niners think the Pats must have him they are less likely to deal him tomorrow to someone else. If Pats don’t move up and get the guy they want AND Jimmy G gets dealt to a team like the Bears, the Pats are screwe with Cam and likely another 8-8 or 9-7 record this year which won’t get them a premium pick next year which won’t get them a good draft slot again. They have to find their QB this year. They must make the Niners think they are all in on Jimmy G until they can snag their rookie just in case.
