Report: Bills Will Work Out OT Matt Tobin
BigDingus replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At least it might trip someone up lol I mean, I knew going into this season it'd be hard to watch going in, but Groy specifically has been brutal. Even knowing what to expect going into the season, he still manages to find ways to get me riled up. -

Can he play Center? Please, for the love of all that is holy, please let him replace Groy. -
Predict Josh Allen's stats v the Vikings
BigDingus replied to FeelingOnYouboty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But if you ALWAYS think that positive, karma won't know which times are the most important ones to manifest your positivity into existence! For now, I'll believe in your belief of Allen to do well, and maybe my hope will piggyback off your hope & notify karma that NOW is the time LOL -
Predict Josh Allen's stats v the Vikings
BigDingus replied to FeelingOnYouboty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Really depends on how far we fall behind but... Negative Scenario: 16/32 for 185 yards, 0 TD's & 2 INT's Positive Scenario: 18/27 for 225 yards 1 TD & 1 INT And 4-6 sacks either way. I'm guessing you're going the "wish strongly enough that I can will it into existence" route? Hope you're right man! -
I dunno...Tyrod is 3-2 against the Jets, where he just lights the scoreboard on fire & cranks out a record book-worthy average of 19/30 passing for 229 yards, 1.5 TD's & 0.5 INT's. That's insane for T-Mobile! Do you see that? That's like...over 30 yards more per game than his average last season! I dunno if I've got enough popcorn & bourbon for that kinda performance!

Well the ONE thing he was supposed to be good at ended up being one of his biggest flaws this game... His ability to throw the ball downfield with ease & to hit WR's deep in stride was the main positive trait he had in regards to actual on-field ability. Yet he severely under threw several receivers on routes that would've been sure-thing TD's had he only hit them in stride. A few could've been picked off or just dropped in the dirt had it not been for some great awareness & heads-up plays by the receivers, adjusting their routes & cutting back to catch the ball behind them. Missing those short & intermediate passes? We knew he was inaccurate. Getting sacked a ton? We knew our O-line was one of the worst in the league. Poor decision-making? He was never known for his ability to read a defense, is a rookie, and had his first start, so that's not a shock. Throwing those INT's? When the O-line sucks, that's what happens...ask Peterman. So yeah, his performance was bad. All signs heading into the season pointed to him playing just like this. Unfortunately, he also failed at the one thing he's supposed to excel at...It's ok though, I'm sure that won't last, and that he'll not under throw so many people the more time he has to play.

Alabama would beat the Buffalo Bills, 'analysts' say
BigDingus replied to Heavy Kevi's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I doubt our O-line would do jack, but the D-line would be able to handle them fairly easily. And "Alabama would be ____Insert NFL team_____ this year!" comes around every season. I guess this year we're that team...Not surprised, but as bad as we are, it's also not true. Granted it'd probably be closer than I'd like to imagine, as our O-line is really that bad, and plenty of Alabama linemen on both sides of the ball will be drafted in the first few rounds & become starters next year. Allen isn't some established NFL pro yet, and is fresh out of being an honorable mention Mountain West QB, so it's not like Alabama or Saban would be afraid of him. ]As long as we stuck to running the ball the entire game, and our defense played like they should, we'd still win. -
Sadly, McDermott is the wrong guy to develop his own guys
BigDingus replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep...and at this point, I'm not quite sure if that's a good thing or bad thing. On one hand, Allen was already such a risk that the only way you should've drafted him so high was if you had a stable veteran in place to mentor him, preferably combined with a solid all-around team, especially on the offensive side of the ball. On the flip-side, if he just ends up being the next EJ Manuel or JP Losman, not sinking additional picks/trades/money into doubling down each year may help mitigate our losses. But we won't really know for sure until next off season, as this year may kick his a** so bad he realizes the only way to save his job is to get better NOW. We very well could be looking at another 1st/2nd round WR, some big spending in FA (we'll have plenty of cap space), and contracts that may come back to haunt us if Allen doesn't pan out. -
Predict the score: Bills at Vikings
BigDingus replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
37-13 Vikings Allen takes 5 or 6 sacks again, but breaks even on TD's & INT's (wishful thinking, but have a feeling they're going to try their hardest to establish the run). -
Romo has been a fantastic analyst. He called our games well last year, and was very accurate in his descriptions of Tyrod's pro's & con's. It'll be very interesting to hear what he has to say about Allen, our O-line, and our WR corps. Hopefully fans will take it in stride if he says anything negative, rather than lash out & call Romo a hack or say he "doesn't know anything." I expect him to be pretty fair in his assessments & point out good play, as well as poor play.

Ruben Brown (Guard): 1. Played 8 consecutive seasons for the Bills from 1996 to 2003, only missing 8 total games. 2. Made the Pro Bowl in all 8 seasons with the team (9 overall). 3. He was a 2nd Team All-Pro in 4 seasons; 1998, 1999, 2000 & 2002. Now that we got that out of the way, I just wanted to ask why he's rarely mentioned in the "best-of" conversations, or "All-whatever team" threads that pop up on the boards. The three things I can think of are 1) he played after the Super Bowls & the hey-day of the Kelly, Thurman, Reed, Bruce, etc. era, 2) he was only part of the 18 year drought for a couple of years, and 3) he was a Guard. Maybe it's because he's never been up for HOF consideration, even though he's quite deserving. Problem there is many linemen get snubbed for the Hall, so that's nothing new. Crazier still, I just was reading an article which mentioned that along with Bruce Smith, Ruben Brown is the only Bills player to have more Pro Bowl selections than Kelly, Thomas, Reed, Simpson, etc. Does nobody else find it odd he still doesn't get the recognition or credit he deserves? If anything, the guy deserves a spot on the Bills Wall of Fame. It's amusing that in his day, some thought he was actually overrated, yet now he's all but forgotten in most discussions. He's easily the most accomplished Bills O-linemen, and for a long time, he was one of the most accomplished & elite linemen in the league period.

The buff one...and uh...not the guy who overturns the refs on the field from a booth in NY.

I always hated when commentators or "experts" threw out "put Rodgers on any of those Patriots teams, and he'd easily have 5 or more rings!" How quick do these people forget that Brady's biggest feather in his cap other than SB wins is the fact that he's usually surrounded with little big name talent, and castoffs from other teams that seemingly become different people when playing with Brady. And the one time Kraft went all out & surrounded Brady with talent? He had an All-Time great year, destroying records left & right, and they went 18-0 until choking against the Giants (not much fault of Brady's though). The running joke has been that you could plug in anyone around Brady, and as long as he's able to remain upright he'll still lead the team to the Super Bowl. Rodgers very well might be able to do the same, but it's not as simple as many want to make it. Who knows if he'd really elevate the people around him to the same level as Brady? Who knows if he'd pull off as many last minute wins or gaming winning drives (though he has done that plenty). And who knows if he'd thrive as much as Brady in Belichick's system, or if he'd be anywhere close to as clutch. One thing I do know, Brady has him beat by a wide margin in what he's actually done on the field. And unlike what many other QB's of dynasties had, with a plethora of all-timers & Hall of Famers, Brady has largely done so as the one core piece plus a rotation of role players. Rodgers reminds me more of a better Marino, while Brady reminds me of a better Montana.

I miss Tyrod! There I've said it! Why lie to us McBeane?
BigDingus replied to Scorp83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not feeling up to reading through all 5 pages, but to respond to the OP, I don't miss TT at all... Better to pull of the mediocre band-aid & get through with the growing pains than to tread water & having nothing but perpetual 7 to 9 win seasons to look forward to for years on end. Tyrod wasn't good. He was a guy who wasn't ever going to win you the game, but he could do just enough that perhaps you wouldn't lose. To say "he won't lose you the game," would be wrong, as his inability to play QB cost us many games we definitely would've won with even Kyle Orton level play. Just because a 5th rounder with about 6 quarters of game experience, and a rookie who's raw & a clear project QB aren't/haven't played well, doesn't mean Tyrod is suddenly good, or even the better option for the team. He was 15 of 40 passing last week for god's sake....and even with throwing 40 freaking passes, the guy STILL couldn't break 200 yards passing! I mean, when opposing teams say the best way to beat Tyrod is make him play the position he's supposed to play, that's not the sign of a good QB! Can he run & make plays on his feet? Sure. Can he keep some plays alive by scrambling around? Sure. But those same elements also contributed to many blown opportunities, sacks and 3 & outs. And when your only hope against most competitive teams is to nurse a slim lead & hope the clock expires before they slip ahead, it's not a good recipe for success. With Tyrod as our starter, the Bills were something like 3-23 in games where the Bills went down by even 1 single point in the 4th quarter. If the other team pulled ahead at any point, might as well pack the bags because Tyrod sure wasn't going to mount a comeback. If anything, you'd get to see drive after drive of checkdowns on 3rd & long, as the defense gasped for air having to run back on the field moments after they just got off. Anyway, I rather we take our beatdowns now rather than later. Get it over with, and stop toiling in ineptitude & mediocrity. -

"Josh Allen decision is Confusing" https://touchdownwire.usatoday.com/2018/09/12/josh-allen-buffalo-bills-starting-quarterback-plan/?utm_source=touchdownwire&utm_medium=recirc&utm_campaign=rail-most-popular This pretty much says it all. -
Top 5 in terms of best on-field play & careers? Not pure talent, just in what they did: 1. Tom Brady 2. Joe Montana 3. Peyton Manning 4. Johnny Unitas 5. Aaron Rodgers In terms of most talented, best pure passers? Aaron Rodgers & Peyton Manning would be 1 & 2 respectively.

Josh Gordon to be released-now traded to PATS
BigDingus replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In only 5 games last year, and on the freaking Browns (with god knows who passing to him), he had more receiving yards than any WR on our team other than Deonte Thompson... and the last time he played most of the season, he lead the league with over 1,600 yards. At least he has done something in his career, whether he underachieved & screwed everything up or not. He can at least point to on-field success. And even if we only had him for half the season, it's better than having him for 0. There's absolutely no way if he becomes a free agent that the Bills would sign him to some long term, guaranteed contract. It'd be littered with incentives & protection clauses to cover themselves in case he gets suspended or injured again. All upside. Yes, he is. -
Josh Gordon to be released-now traded to PATS
BigDingus replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. All upside at that point, you just have to hope no other team tries to trade for him before Monday. If he hits the open market, we can dictate the terms & protect ourselves. From there it'd be up to him if he wants to accept them, but at least it gives us a chance. -
Josh Gordon to be released-now traded to PATS
BigDingus replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he's released, he will qualify as an unrestricted FA & not have to go through waivers due to meeting the veteran requirements. He'd definitely be worth pursuing in that case, as we can negotiate a contract with incentives & stipulations that protect us if he falters in any way. Little risk, plenty of room for reward. -
Who will get the most catches Sunday?
BigDingus replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Zay? Really? How is he in the lead? I feel like Bills fans just enjoy being disappointed... The guy who caught only what, 35% of his passes last season, and a rookie QB playing behind an awful O-line are somehow going to be the most frequent connection? Sure. Why not? The problem is that in order to get that many touches, we need to have sustained drives & the offense out on the field. There's no way Shady gets 25 touches & the other RB's 10-20 themselves if we just keep going 3 & out all game.
