  1. He was at least functional, showed moxie in the final ps game and actually started and finished a playoff game a few years ago. Peterman cannot play in the league.
  2. Haven’t the Bengals hung onto their HC forever now ?
  3. I’m aware of what the Bills did. It’s just that not everyone agrees with their choices. Perhaps the writers opinion would be different if they had drafted Rosen ( a more polished prospect) or not spent as much and drafted Edmunds, then moved up slightly to draft Jackson. Time will tell. If Allen is a stud, no one will care what was given up to draft him.
  4. There is a philosophy to drafting players. Some believe that more picks = a better chance that some of them pan out. If you spend multiple picks to get a certain player you are putting all of ypur drafting eggs in a single basket. Your odds of success decrease. Whether or not you subscribe to this philosophy would determine if you thought the Bills strategy was good or shortsighted.
  5. To be fair, I think his point was that the Bills could have addressed those needs without paying the steep price to move up. A team like the Bills that gutted their roster and left holes to fill all over the place. They had lots of draft picks, but actually drafted very few players with those picks. It’s a valid point. They could have addressed the OL, WR, LB and QB positions if they hadn’t squandered so many picks in trade ups.
  6. Coaches will always devise a game plan with winning the game as primary consideration. This should and will be no different. They won’t try to hide Allen behind max protection all game. They will use play action on deep throws early to get the safety out of the run box. The Ravens D did not care much about any pass beyond 10 yards as they didn’t think Peterman could make the throws. That’s tough on a running game. I expect Allen’s mobility to be used as well with bootlegs. The Jets did this often vs DET. There were plays out there to be made vs BAL and NP left them on the field. The OL must get much better leverage and be more physical in the run game to give the Bills a chance in this one.
  7. Peterman starting was the confluence of bad talent evaluation and poor judgement.
  8. I still prefer ESPN to the Patriot blowhards on NFLN. Usually can only tolerate about 5 minutes of their programming before talk inevitably turns to New England. ESPN has certainly declined over the years, but remains better than most others.
  9. Oh yeah it would stick in the crawl of POTUS, and surely harm his self of steam. Too many it would be a fresh of breath air !
  10. It’s a weakened version of last years team. Anything that happened last season is close to irrelevant.
  11. Jim Kelly was sacked a whopping 153 times in his first 3 pro seasons. 75 in his first USFL year. Adversity simply reveals the quality of the player, it doesn’t change it. You can’t ruin a QB.
  12. Fred Savage is probably available.
  13. Exactly. It would really be more of a big picture- but feeling type deal than one that is quantified by a number. Bills fans should make no mistake, this kind of blunder at the QB position leaving no viable option but a raw rookie could be a career -killer.
  14. Wow. McDermott really might be more clueless than I thought. He’s firmly entrenched with Peterman. This is the kind of blunder that could be his downfall in Buffalo. They probably wouldn’t be in this predicament if they had kept AJ McCarron and put Peterrman on the PS.
  15. The Chiefs had Alex Smith. That decision was an easy one. McDermottt and Beane have boxed themselves in with no credible alternative at QB to turn to. That’s on them. Starting Nathan Peterman in another game would be an embarrassment ; an amateurish move that would finish their careers. Trading McCarron has compounded the situation. There is no chance he would look as incompetetent as Peterman. Sure , a truly seasoned vet should have been brought in but AJM could have held the fort down and gave Allen the redshirt year he probably needs. You are absolutely correct that the blueprint should have been the same as Mahomes, but they half stepped on a placeholder QB. Edit: best veteran options out there right now are probably D Anderson, M Moore, smokin J Cutler. They’d take a few weeks to get up to speed. What do you do? Once Allen goes in you can’t take him out except for injury, simple as that.
  16. Tall order, though. The all -22 showed us that the run blocking was worse than the pass pro. By a lot. The Bills have little talent on the Oline and played with no physicality whatsoever. Prospects for cranking up a run game are slim. Watching the NYJ game, the contrast between the two Olines was stunning. True. Of course, teams figured out Gaileys schemes halfway through the season and forced the WRs to do things they weren’t capable of . It was interesting while it lasted, though.
  17. After the roster gutting performed by McDermott and Beane, it will be several years before thesupporting cast is decent. You just can’t sit Allen until 2020. He sinks or swims on his own because the organization went about things in the wrong order ( it should have been hire GM/ GM hires HC/ draft QB) and jettisoned too many offensive players.
  18. Wow... that clip of NP is even worse than I thought possible. Jones is uncovered on the boundary, to boot. Mind numbingly bad stuff, and Barnwell is on point.
  19. So if you disagree with Kaep, his protests and his ideas you are racist ? Got it. The OP started this thread days before Peter King was on WGR.
  20. It may not be “ PC” but it’s true. It’s Texas. Everyone and their brother has a gun, right ? If you were the defendant, do you think you might have a better chance at acquittal in Texas than somewhere else ? Can’t say anything these days without someone saying you’re prejudiced etc. Everyone is prejudiced , so it’s nonsenical to mention.
  21. Terrible. If I realized I had done this , I just might put a bullet through my own temple. As for her, she’s in Texas. She might have a chance at a not guilty verdict.
  22. Right. This comes down to coaching. The great Nate Hackett was able to prepare the likes of Jeff Tuel well enough to not be a source of national embarrassment. Allen should be good enough to produce a respectable effort.
  23. Not surprising for a liberal echo chamber / sounding board in a liberal utopia.
  24. It sounded more like McFarlands opining on the matter rather than a quote. I didn’t hear him attribute that to McVay at all; perhaps I heard it wrong. Cooks is smaller/ quicker maybe, I’m not even sure about the last part. Anyway, the Rams bowed out on a bidding war and got a different player. I didn’t see him do anything spectacular and Watkins would likely get lambasted for the same stat line in a game. Not trying to change anyone’s mind here, but I’d still take Watkins on the Bills all day long.
