It’s actually been 6 putrid quarters of defensive football followed by 6 tremendous quarters. Where is the truth ? Were the first six just the offshoot of the Nate Peterman implosion/ hangover into game 2 ? While a good game can skew things upward, an exceptionally poor one can do the opposite. Bills fans can hope that the Bills D that has shown up the last 6 quarters is what they will be going forward. It was hard to imagine a team playing so badly for a whole season. Time will tell, of course. The #2 CB spot is still a weakness, but Lewis may be an answer there.

What a load of garbage this segment was. J Murphy and Blandino both said that fans don’t mind the rule ( or the previous catch rule) , they just want to know exactly what it is. This is complete bunk. Smart fans absolutely despise the rule, because they know it is nonsensical and unenforceable without destroying the game. There are already rules on the books about roughing the passer and/ or bodyslamming players. Fans understand that. Sacking a QB almost always requires the players body weight to fall on the QB. Players can’t simply arm tackle most QB’s. Blandino and Murphy are stunningly out of touch if they feel fans were ok with these rules.

Nah. The game actually was better when you were still allowed to play defense. -
Division Game Scheduling
Boatdrinks replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The league has shifted to this type of scheduling to keep division races alive in November and December. I don’t see an issue with it. Why have teams locking up their division before Thanksgiving ? -
Would you rather have: Mahomes or both Allen & Tre?
Boatdrinks replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Because it’s a legitimate question, not some pie-in-the-sky scenario. The Bills made a decision to pass on drafting Mahomes. It’s the kind of choice that can define a franchise for a decade or more. -
Most impressive part of the Vikings game...

Lol.. while there was some similarity , Allen has already showed far more pocket awareness than Johnson ever did. -

Boatdrinks replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Obviously it’s Mahomes right now. What he’s done we actually haven’t seen before. He set an NFL record. Even the choice of Mahomes vs T White and Allen isn’t exactly correct. Can it eventually be different ? Yes, however the question is about right now. It’s Mahomes ( who the Bills could have had for exactly one draft pick) and it’s not really close. -
The league will quietly see to it that the calls are made with more common sense going forward, a la the “ catch rule” in last years playoffs and Super Bowl. Watch the sound fx version of SB with Steratore mic’d up and it’s obvious this was happening. Then they changed the rule to suit this new interpretation after the fact. They’ll change it; just won’t admit they were wrong.

[Incomplete Title] Seven years ago today already..

By my calculation, the Bills are on schedule to defeat the Pats* again in 2019. Perhaps Brady retires. -
The Ryan Fitzpatrick Cycle

Good stuff. It kinda looks more like Roethlisberger with a beard than Fitzy though. -
Reilly doesn’t have the speed they are looking for to line up at the outside spots. Perhaps he can supplant Zay Jones at some point.

Josh Allen Nominated for Rookie of the Week
Boatdrinks replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We’ll see. Mayfield came in down two scores at home vs the Jets and played about a half. One could argue that Allen didn’t do much in the 2nd half, and the Bills were set up by takeaways. It was on the road vs an NFC team viewed as a SB contender. It will be interesting. -
The flip to RR was the worst call I've ever seen.
Boatdrinks replied to 4merper4mer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is not true. The play was a forward pass by definition. It is a forward pass (a) if the ball initially moves forward to a point nearer the opponents goal line after leaving the passers hand(s). (b) The ball first strikes the ground , a player or anything else at a point that is nearer the opponents goal line than the point at which it leaves the passers hands. Note : a ball that is intentionally fumbled and goes forward is a forward pass. That is the definition of a forward pass as stated in NFL rules section 8 section 1 article 1 a and b. There is no mention of one foot anywhere . It is clear that the officials blew the call. -
More than likely, the answer is yes. There are far more wealthy individuals than NFL QBs. Folks whose money alone has made more money than Bradford will ever see. As far as NFL QBs though, his $$ per TD pass is astounding.

Let that one go with authority... still gotta go with Fitzy when Winston returns. You have to let it play out. -
Seems surprising, but it shouldn’t be. Some folks forget ( or were too young to recall) the NFL draft used to have 12 rounds in the early ‘90s. Even more prior to that. It currently is 7 rounds. That means more players are FA’s , giving them some say in which team they play for. That’s what the NFLPA wanted. This works for teams too, as the talent level drops in a major way after the first 3 rounds. Since the salary structure dictates higher salaries for drafted players, they may be willling to forgo keeping a drafted player in favor of a cheaper UDFA to fill out the roster. The drafted player may still get a priority due to the investment, but if the cheaper guy can do just as good of a job he’ll make the roster. Teams have to get players from somewhere, and less are drafted out of College football now than was previously the case.

What a giant surprise! Hue must have looked at the tape. -
Well, the Bills did do them a huuuge favor in allowing them to draft Mahomes. Definitely won’t happen though.

Agreed. I was sold on Schuster after watching his workout @ USC, and even seeing his interaction with his family that appeared in that broadcast. Seemed like a great kid and looked like a stud WR out there. Like a bigger and better version of Robert Woods. Zay can still turn it around , but it’s not looking good. JJSS also would only have cost one draft pick.

Allen has seemingly improved every half so far
Boatdrinks replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While I’ll agree that other plays were more impressive, I was glad to see Allen brush off the shakiness from his debut and calmly execute the play as required. I didn’t know if he was just too hyped up vs LAC, or if putting the right touch on various passes was going to be an issue.
