  1. Except the chance of Garappolo being traded to the Bills was somewhere south of zero.
  2. There is little doubt that this draft was going to be a career definer for Beane. The good side? He made a couple of decisive moves with the draft currency he amassed. I like the belief and the willingness to go get those players, not just any players. That's great, and what the vast majority of fans on this board wanted him to do. The not so good ? The QB choice and the price paid took some worthwhile additions away from what is still a flawed team in many areas. Personally , I would have preferred staying put for Lamar Jackson and drafting a stud LB at say 12 . This would have preserved the two second rounders, that the team could use. I'd probably feel differently if the QB choice had been Rosen. It would have been safer and less likely to be criticized. Not everyone would agree, of course.
  3. No. I think the football guys made a football decision . I would have chosen the other Josh, but after seeing the Kim Pegula interview I don't think the owners did any more than give the thumbs up. That likely would have happened with any of the QBs.
  4. Believing in a guy as a franchise - type starter and taking a 5th round flyer on a Nate Peterman are completely different.
  5. Oh, I don't think the reports on EJ were all over the place. They were mostly the same place, middle rounds maybe . His own coach questioned if he was even draftable. Kipers final mock before that draft had zero QBs going in round 1. I don't like this pick , but I can tell the guy is a better prospect than EJ. That's not a real high bar, to be sure. But Manuel cannot throw like an NFL QB. Allen is better than EJ, much better. He may flop, and Rosen might too. I would have picked the safer choice in Rosen, but the Bills clearly didn't want him.
  6. Bills fans should be so lucky if Allen is anywhere near Newton as a QB.
  7. I'd say no. It was reported AZ was trying to move up for Allen. Rosen may have went to MIA. Regardless, it seems they may not have taken Rosen at 12 even if they had stayed put and he was there. There was something there they didn't like.
  8. Fwiw , Goff started in week 9 of his rookie year. I dont think we'll have a real great idea until well into year 2. I'll predict Allen starts the second half of 2018 if the record dictates it. That means 2-3 wins by mid season . At that point, why wait? Overall, the Bills will give him through year 3 before deciding if a change needs to be made. Most fans here will give him untll his 7th or 8 th start before declaring him a bust.
  9. I liked Rosen because I felt it was a safer pick. He might not be the best QB of the four in the end, but I'm pretty sure he won't be the worst.
  10. I think the hypocrisy he's referring to is regarding the strategy. Not the player. We as fans can not like the pick or whatever, but Beane probably played it as well as possible. I doubt there'd be much outcry if they had done the same thing and took Rosen . People would be giving Beane the key to the city .
  11. True. The turnovers concerned me as well. Small hands? Idk, I feel the Bills would have taken Darnold if they had the choice of Darnold, Rosen and Allen. Maybe I'm wrong, though.
  12. I think it was Mayfield. Once he was gone, it was a waiting game. Get the price down but don't get jumped by the Cardinals or whomever.
  13. I'd guess that they may have given up the farm for one guy, and that guy went first. Otherwise, they probably get to pick 2 , as Beane had indicated he felt was reachable. They met with Mayfield at least 4 times. So I think he waited until he felt AZ or MIA was too much of a threat. He played his hand well imo, but I question the pick. A lot.
  14. I'll say it right now , I hated the pick. Face palmed it in a bar draft party. After the dust has settled, I'm trying to talk myself into it. I need it fascinating that they had a choice and passed on Rosen. Absolutely stunned. I wonder what the determining factors in that choice ? I guess it's better than say, AZ moving up and making the choice for you. The Bills weren't getting the second pick without giving up the farm, but they could have. Were the Giants just unwilling to move? Did the Bills want Darnold ? I'm disappointed , but I'll just give Allen every chance to prove he doesn't suck before I decide that he does. Rosen seemed like the safe pick to me, and I guess BBFS will make you gravitate to that because you just don't want them to be wrong. A GM will probably see that differently. Beane and Co have staked their future on this kid, so they'd better be right.
  15. They couldn't do anything as far as I'm concerned. It would be all on Allen, and I'd be very skeptical until he proved it.
  16. Many teams looking to move down, all would like a pice of what the Bills have to offer. Will the right team be willing, though? That's the question. The Bills have the most loot, and most other teams looking to move up don't have a signicantly better 1st round pick to give .
  17. This action will induce severe nausea/ vomiting in Bills fans everywhere.
  18. Probably Fox. Since they've done NFC games over the years, I'm guessing they will be at least slightly less focused on the Patriots at all times. This would be an appealing contrast to the others.
  19. From my experience listening to his color commentary on NFL games, I'd be shocked if Simms is right.
  20. Ahhh the " company line". I get it, Beane can't appear desperate to move up.
