I have a sinking feeling that the Chiefs and Chargers will both lose next week, gifting the # 1 seed to New England. Belichick will get to face rookie Lamar Jackson and old friend Andrew Luck on their way to ruining another Super Bowl.

Cut McCoy, Sign Bell (edited from McCoy out 6.4M cap)

No. It’s been apparent this season that expensive RBs are usually not worth it. -
Will the Buffalo Bills ever be a good team?
Boatdrinks replied to The 9 Isles's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Odds are that they probably will again at some point in time, but who knows when ? -
Anyone else annoyed by play calling? Or lack there of?

When the Bills actually have a good OL above average WRs and their offense is struggling, that’s when I’ll be concerned about play calling. -
Week 16 Bills at Pats Postgame Postmortum

Of course the Bills could find a Fitzpatrick/ Cassel type of QB in the late rounds. Unfortunately those are the types of QBs that the Bills have trotted out season after season for twenty years. A Brady in round six was lightning in a bottle that will probably never happen again. -
Pretty sure the 12 th man was on the Bills WOF before these Seattle choads started using the term.?

I’ll second that. It would mean a certain other team isn’t there...

Week 16 Bills at Pats Postgame Postmortum

Lol , yes NFL history is littered with 6th round draft pick HOF caliber QBs. Heck, the Bills should draft one every year for the next decade. Brady was a long shot that by his own admission thought he was going to be cut in preaseason his second year. It was a one in a bazillion long shot. If a QB lasts until the 6th round it’s just dumb luck if they’re any good. Flukes happen, just ask Drew Bledsoe and Mo Lewis,. -
Anyone but New England....as it seems every year. Oh what it will be like to enjoy football again when TB is done.

Damn I just hate that f**kin team...

What a crock of sh** in this PIT game. Terrible PI call that would never have been thrown on New England’s D. Bree’s pass was tipped at the line as well so no PI. Now a huge pushoff in the end zone by Thomas and no call for OPI. Clearly extended his arms fully and pushed off . Refs suck and are trying to get good AFC QBs out of the p,ayoffs.

New ownership would mean those Bills would be doing their winning somewhere other than Buffalo NY. Funny thing is, many said the Bills would never win with Ralph Wilson as owner. His team won when he had a good GM that compiled talent. Saying win now is all well and good, but you need good players, a good GM and good coaching to win. Beane and McDermott may not be the ones to make it happen. Do you think Kraft is winning games or did his team get extremely lucky with a 6th round flyer draft pick of a QB ? -
I’d be pretty happy with my QB if he dueled with Rodgers all day and got to OT at 38-38.

Damn, bad Refs leaving their mark today. Joe Haden flagged with a terrible PI, and we can’t forget earlier in the HOU @PHL game. The Patriots end up a huge beneficiary of a John Perry classic phantom “ roughing the passer”. Parry and his crew have always favored the Pats* and did so inderectly at the end of this one. What a crock, as Clowney had to lower his angle just a little to avoid helmet to helmet contact. Just garbage and it effectively granted New England a bye week.

Fumble

Rivers whining after the sack is a joke. That was about as merciful as a hit on the QB can be, even by today’s wussified standard.
-
Ravens D is obviously legit. They’re going to have a say in the AFC playoff seeding, but can they win at NE ? Hating the thought of the Patsies still ending up with a bye week.
-
Nice throw. If Allen threw it, I wonder if some would say it was off a bit and the TE had to extend for it ?
-
That was OPI on Crabtree.... ? Errrrrrrr

Great point. The touchback rule is actually consistent with the rules and the entire concept of gridiron. The offense may run, pass or kick the ball on any down. A punt is a common play on 4th and 10 from ones own twenty yard line, but there is nothing in the rules preventing an offensive team in possession of the ball at the opponents 15 yard line from punting the ball on second and ten. Now, the idea seems crazy because you want to score points and still have two more downs but it’s the same concept as an unintentional fumble. The rule makes no distinction for intent nor should it. If you punted in the scenario I used, and the ball goes into the end zone and OB it’s a touchback and the opponent gets possession at the 20. This holds true in the case of the fumble, and why not ? Dead ball rule aside, the offensive miscue is treated the same way as a punt : intentional or not the possession is vacated and goes to the opponent.

Where does everyone stand on this lost season?
Boatdrinks replied to Dadonkadonk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the win now and in the future stuff was 2017. As soon as Taylor was traded and Allen drafted the win now stuff realistically went out the window. Virtually all the NFL pundits saw it coming and called it before the preseason was even under way. It was pretty obvious unless a minor miracle occurred that the team would take a step back in the win department. If say, Beane had traded for Nick Foles and also drafted a QB then the expectation might have been different. McCarron and Nathan Peterman ? Pretty clear that the best one could hope for was a mediocre bridge to the rookie QB.
