Not so fun fact-QB 3000 Yd Passing seasons
Boatdrinks replied to BobbyC81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dan Marino still sits at #5 all time in pass attempts to this day, so that INT number on its own is a bit misleading. His career INT % is 3.0, which is right in the zip code of the top passers of his era. John Elway had a 3.2 INT % , Joe Montana 2.6%, Warren Moon 3.4%, Dan Fouts 4.3%. Simply put, Marino played in a different era of NFL football. That always needs to be a consideration. Your contention that Peyton Manning is “ up there “ in INTs doesn’t hold water. Manning currently stands at 3rd all time in pass attempts and his career INT % was just 2.7. -
13 dropped balls all season?????
Boatdrinks replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lol exactly. Someone’s idea of what constitutes a “ drop” is still only part of the equation. When a WR makes a somewhat more difficult catch on a ball that is slightly ( or more) off, it is simply thrown into the stat basket of a “ catch”. I have no data to back it up, but by my own eye it seems the Bills WR corps makes fewer of those types of catches than WRs on other teams do. -
13 dropped balls all season?????

So, thirteen dropped passes by Bills WRs this season to date? I think we may be seeing the inherent bias of the one compiling these “stats”. -
Yes, but we’re talking about losing possession with no recovery at the spot on the gridiron that the offense can go no further. The rule is fine, just protect the football.

Shot to the head on MCCaffery not called
-
I don’t dislike the rule. That’s was a very heady play by the defender. The rule actually makes sense as there is nowhere else you can place the ball.
-
Wow a touchback... just can’t fumble there.Huge!
-
I don’t blame you. Let’s just say compared with some of the past MNF announcers, the current crew leaves something to be desired !
-
I hadn’t heard it called that, but the MNF announcer said it shortly after the play so I’d guess yes.
-
Two point attempt was intercepted . Before the rule change, that would simply be a dead ball. Pretty crazy change in complexion of the game.
-
First time I’ve seen a defensive return for two since the rule.

I’m not sure what anyone else is seeing, but constant spectrum and Celino &Barnes commercials are annoying a f

A rare Joe Cribbs mention on MNF while talking about McCaffery’s season...Cribbs was a head case, but a pretty damn good ( often forgotten) player for the Bills.

Comparing Rookie QB Seasons
Boatdrinks replied to BuffaloHokie13's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I couldn’t disagree more on the Mahomes/ Brady take. Great QBs ( or players for that matter) have portable greatness. It’s just in them. Would Mahomes be putting up exactly the same numbers in Buffalo ? No, but he would still be obviously a great player. He’ll still need some complementary pieces but the greater puzzle is solved. What was the hoodies’s record pre Brady? He was on the verge of getting fired in NE before Mo Lewis knocked Bledsoe into oblivion. Belichick is a great defensive mind, but he pulled out all his and tricks vs Mahomes and barely slowed him down. If Mahomes didn’t have jitters and miss a couple wide open throws for TDs in that game, the Chiefs win going away. He settled down in the second half and his only mistake was scoring too quickly. Anyway, truly great players transcend the situation. -
I don’t watch every Eagles game by any stretch, but to my eye Foles looks better and their offense functions differently with him at QB. Doesn’t mean a thing , but who knows what the Eagles think of the situation. If Foles guides them to a playoff berth and possibly a deep run, their QB situation will be a real thing. Personally, I hope it doesn’t happen because it would mean HOU losing @ PHL which would greatly help the Patriots seeding. An interesting situation in Philly nonetheless.
-
Lol calling the game “ fairly”. That is Patriotfanspeak for not throwing flags for Patriot infractions ! I have grown to loathe John Parry over the years , but I must admit this game was one of the better officiated Pats* games I’ve seen in awhile. Parry avoided his propensity for flagging hits on Brady, and actually penalized NE for holding. I thought they missed a couple obvious holding calls on Chung and Gilmore, but all in all a pretty clean effort.
-
Agreed. I don’t think a competitive offer would have gotten it done to keep him in BUF. Would have had to blow everything else out of the water. Foles just looks better a lot of the time
-
Goff is so “off”... missed two easy throws that could have resulted in TDs.
-
Rams appear to have been exposed by the Bears ,shockingly enough. Pretty stunning stuff. HOU better bring their A +++ game on Saturday or the Patsies may find themselves with a bye week after all, maybe even a home AFC title game. Amazing but even the previously left for dead Eagles will have something to say about the AFC playoff picture.
-
Wtf was that by Goff ? Wow!
-
Yep, Gronkowski wasn’t doubled on that 4th down play. Three defenders around Edelman and just four rushing
-
Yeah, although multiple neck surgeries can help create that drop off
