  1. I do think that the new guards will help the line overall. However, Brown really has been not good to average his first two years in the league. We currently have David Quessenbury as our swing tackle. I think it would be wise to draft a tackle early. Whether the rookie pushes Brown to the bench or Brown plays good enough to hold onto that spot, now your tackle position isn’t so thin and dependent on Spencer Brown taking a step in year 3.
  2. Though I really like a few guys as a possible RT upgrades still, I agree the guys that seem like clear cut upgrades are gone
  3. With the 56th pick in the 2023 TSW Mock Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select Dawand Jones OT, OSU Cam Robinson has been a solid left tackle for the Jags but continues to have injuries to his knees, the last of which cost him the end of the 2022 season. In his absence Walker Little excelled at LT. Robinson will be on the team through this year at which point he can be release for a modest cap hit. Getting The Mountain to fill the right side spot vacated by Jawan Taylor is too good to pass up in this spot. Though we do have concerns about Jones being just too big, he really has played well in college and the senior bowl. This should establish bookend tackles for the Jags for the foreseeable future. The Giants and @Chaos are now on the clock. @Virgil
  4. Many people said he was the best TE at the senior bowl which included Luke Musgrave
  5. They drafted Cam Jurgens in the second round last year and actually asked for Kelce’s opinion on who his heir should be and he told them to select Jurgens. Schmitz can probably play all along the interior if needed so can still be useful to them even if Jurgens is the successor.
  6. You know that JJs best trait coming out of college was his route running right? Lol. Eagles took Jalen Reager ahead of him Because he was considered the more explosive athlete AJB was a second rounder Tyreek was a fifth Hopkins was a late first in the worst draft of this century Chase had it all tho There is actually a negative correlation between speed and productivity at the WR position “Some more coorellations: -0 .38 between a players combine or pro day 40 time and his yards per catch in the NFL.” https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2023/insider/story/_/id/35981045/2023-nfl-draft-how-top-receivers-dominate-stats-matter-flowers-smith-njigba-addison-johnston-hyatt IMO Addison is WR2 in the class. You would like him to be bigger but aside from that I think he is a great option at 27 if we go the WR route. Good football player who will be productive right away. Was productive early in college, was productive in two different schemes, in two different positions, in two different colleges. That is hard to do.
  7. Yea I don’t think they will take Ika at 27 but if Aranda tells McDermott he is a good player and person I think he will be the pick at 59. I know we all want offensive players early - especially me - but with McDermott taking over the defensive play calling I think he is going to want to add a lot of defensive talent to help him succeed.
  8. Nah Mcdemott is gonna want Siaki Ika from his buddy Aranda’s college
  9. With the 24th pick in the 2023 NFL draft the Jacksonville Jaguars select Mazi Smith, DL Michigan Though it can be argued CB is a bigger need for the Jags, we disagree. Last year, we set up Trevor Lawrence for success by adding Kirk, Zay Jones, Evan Engram and trading for Calvin Ridley. Making sure he succeeded was priority 1. Next up we want to make sure our #1 overall pick last year Travon Walker succeeds by putting the biggest freak in the draft next to him. At 323 pounds and nearly 34 inch arms, we feel he can fill the role Arik Armstead and Deforest Buckner did when GM Baalke was making picks for the 49ers. We think Smith has the ability to control multiple blockers and allowing Walker as well as the other Josh Allen to eat one on ones on the outside. Not to mention some ability of his own to get into the backfield with more coaching. And with that DUVAAAAAAL. The Giants and @Chaosare now on the clock at pick 25. @Virgil
  10. Problem with that is you may lose your 2nd or 3rd depending on the trade up. For me the draft is a crapshoot and the more swings you get to take the more likely you get one right. Doesn’t help I don’t think moving up in this draft nets you someone significantly better than someone at 27 or later I guess
  11. We only have 6 picks this year and moving up even a little bit likely takes at least one of our top 4 picks this year (took a 4th to move up 2 spots for Elam last year) or assets from next year when it will hopefully be a stronger draft. Beane should be focusing on getting deals to move back to gain more assets before ever thinking about moving up. Our team is getting more and more expensive each year. The more picks you have the more chances you have on hitting on a star player or at least filling your depth with cheap labor in the future. I hope and trust Beane will make the smart decision. Can’t wait for the draft to finally be here lol
  12. If I had to guess, the Bills top priority is to upgrade the OL anyway possible whether that is upgrading Bates or Brown or both on the RT side. Bates is only getting about 4 mil per year and is the primary backup at Center so moving him back to the bench is not out of the question imo and may be the reason they think McGovern will be the LG. I don’t think the scheme part is much of a concern when they are looking for talent. Torrence is certainly bigger and less of a mover than they normally have on the line but it doesn’t mean he can’t play RG in our system. They also interviewed Steve Avila who is pretty athletic for his size but not an above 9 RAS guy like most of our line now. I don’t think Torrence will be the guy we take but I think it shows we are looking very, very closely at OL this draft. Or at least that is wishful thinking for me.
  13. It hurts me that Jalen Graham did a full workout at both the combine and his pro day and he just couldn’t improve his athletic testing. I’m a huge fan of him as a college player. When you watch him play, he has first round plays due to his instincts but he will just be too slow at the next level as it pops up a bit in college. Kind of along the lines of Jaquan Johnson - knows how to play safety well but won’t be athletic enough at the NFL level to be a star but could be a very good backup. Then on the flip side with Bryce Ford Wheaton, he has the physical testing but it just doesn’t translate on the field enough. Goes down really easily for such a big guy, doesn’t run away from people much despite his 40. But you are right that only so many people are built like him and maybe a good pro coach can get more out of him than WV did. I will likely add my own list to this thread in the future. But I will leave the one guy I have been trying to spread awareness to for a few weeks: Yasir Abdullah from Louisville - who I think could be the best linebacker in this class if he gets to the right team. He played both on and off the ball at Louisville and was really an exceptional pass rusher for them. But he is small and will be served best if a team takes him under their wing and make him off ball the entire time. His RAS is top notch as well: And watching him, he has shown me a lot of flashes of what you want from your Linebacker. Maybe the most impressive is blanketing a WR on a wheel route for the pick: https://youtube.com/clip/Ugkx8512w6wUZTinKx_HIWg-esTnSZ6CTU3p He had himself a game against FSU, blowing up one screen coming from the other side of the field https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxLn9kCB_OiotUc4cPDDVWczTP_mfdx6Pt One screen where he avoided the lineman https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxYnZf9c3C150Jx62v0fhgglaZWo48ARIe and two interceptions, this one was a bit more impressive watching the QBs eyes: https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxKbXim2QpIg6zlTdedDFumv87Mid3kq-9 And was able to chase down the speedy Sean Tucker on a screen pass out of the backfield. https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxWGZTnythkHIZ0dg0g7VrDpiDsI8r1iEt Though it is a small sample size, he only allowed an insane 46.8 passer rating when targeted this year https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Yasir-Abdullah-LB-Louisville I think he may last until day 3 due to his tweener status but he would be a great addition to our LB room, especially if he gets to sit a year to focus on off ball LB. Plus he adds pass rush which is a nice bonus
  14. The only thing that may save Flowers from that fate is Belichicks white hot hatred for Mac Jones haha. But they coached Flowers at the East West Shrine, local college guy, loyal by never leaving crappy BC, good all around kid so I think he winds up there unfortunately for him.
  15. I agree on JSN or Addison. I actually think the Patriots are going to take Flowers in the first which is a death knell for that poor guy haha.
  16. May not need to. Any WR aside from JSN may slide this year especially after Addison was smaller and slower than expected. Wouldn’t be surprised if he went after JSN, Flowers, and Johnston and if so that would be a coup for the Bills.
  17. The Bills have “reached out” to Yaya Diaby DL Louisville per the player himself in the 4th paragraph from the bottom https://247sports.com/college/louisville/Article/Louisville-football-NFL-Draft-defensive-end-Yaya-Diaby-Pro-Day-207525689/Amp/
  18. Would rather have Bergeron but Harrison would be a fine pick.
  19. What a throwback, I remember watching that cut up prior to the 2011 draft desperate for the Bills to find a QB. It actually reinforced to me how different Kuechley was compared to Campbell. Tho granted it is against Nevada and not BIG football. :16 - chased Kaep to the sideline 1:07 - avoids the RT, fills the outside gap and stops Kaep 1:40 - gets driven back by Guard 1:45 - fights off the guard and stops RB at the LOS 2:26 - comes from depth to meet the RB just beyond the LOS on the swing pass 2:57 a Flows with the play to the right, Nevada runs the reverse, Kuechley scrapes down the line and meets the WR just beyond the LOS. Incredible change of direction and range. 3:07 drop into zone for the pick. Campbell did have a similar play against Stroud. 5:35 - starts filling the gap for the play action handoff and then chases down the TE Virgil Green on the Bootleg pass 5:45 avoids the OL and knifes into the backfield for a stuff it almost looks like a highlight tape, it’s crazy how good he was. I like Campbell and he is a good player but I don’t think he has the range Kuechley did. I guess we will all see in a few years tho!
  20. I had passed over Freeland because I didn’t think he did well at the Senior Bowl. Of course he blew up the Combine so I had to go back. I think he is going to be a second round pick because of his athletic upside tho I think he is behind Bergeron and Harrison as a talent. Rewatching him with the BYU OLine I thought he showed enough to project as an eventual starting tackle. He actually reminds me of Spencer Brown. He is quick so he is able to wall off defenders in the run game and he is able to get to them on the second level easily. Not as good at pass protection but he is certainly fast on his feet and does a good job keeping tied to his guard to mitigate the inside rush that gets him a bit. But I agree overall, I would be disappointed if he was out OT solution.
  21. This is how I feel. He is a good player and a good athlete there is no doubt, but I see a player that knows the role he should be playing and gets to that spot. Maybe with coaching he could maximize his skills and be a Fred Warner that can cover players one on one but I don’t think he is that fluid despite what the testing says. I don’t see the violence of a Shaq Leonard when he hits and he doesn’t have quite the wingspan of Leonard (79 vs 82 inches). The comp that gets thrown around is Kuechley because of McDermott. But I really don’t see a player that caliber. I know the testing is similar but I remember watching Kuechley at BC and players just did not outrun him. Campbell is pretty fast but players can get out wide of him and he doesn’t have the closing burst to meet them. Also Kuechley is still the second all time tackle leader in college history over 10 years ago and that was with 3 years starting. He was incredible. Campbell is good. The biggest problem is what you are missing out on other talent to fill this spot. At the end of the first you are going to have OT and WR that could immediately impact the offense. OT has some depth into round two but from what I have watched of prospects it degrades after Bergeron (who is going to go higher than people expect), Harrison and Freeland. WR I think you miss out at the end of round one and you are either trading up or waiting till day 3 because the most talented will be gone pretty early like what happened last year. so in essence I like Campbell the player, just not that much and would rather wait till round 2 or 3 to draft a MLB to compete with what we have. But Beane does draft for need in round 1 so we will see.
  22. You know you hate the Chiefs when this guy using an exclamation point to end his sentence annoys you.
