Yes we need much more speed, plus Hairston is already great in zone defense so the transition to the Bills should be smooth. Yea I like Frazier too as a developmental guy, good size and ball skills.

Yup I’ve turned my attention from DL to CB. One early and one day 3. Hairston from Kentucky at 30 (assuming the top guys are all gone) and Kone from Western Michigan day 3 are my hopes. I also REALLY like Morrison from ND early, but am worried about his injury. If we only came away with Kone I think he could be a good starter for us.

The receiver room as it stands is underwhelming. We should draft 2 WRs and keep 6 on the roster. We are tied into Coleman, Palmer, Shakir and Samuel this year. Beane has started to prioritize weapons for Josh since we got blown out by the Bengals in 2022…and it is helping! But as much as I like Shakir, it’s him as a slot WR and then a bunch of role players. Keep drafting (and signing) playmakers for Josh until one emerges next to Shakir as a bona fide WR1. Having a second WR that teams actually have to worry about is how you take the passing game to the next level.

Yea can’t say I’m excited those guys stay together. These contracts make the Bengals margin for error less because the rest of their teams depth is going to be shallow. But if they get good injury luck, and Golden stabilizes the defense, they are going to be a tough team those years. If they don’t get lucky, it’ll probably be like this year for them. But it only takes one year to go on a Super Bowl run.

Yea what I love about CJ is that he anchored the Indiana line that gave up the second fewest rushing yards in college football. The only team that was better was Ole Miss who is gonna have their entire line and most of their defense drafted. Love that he crushed the combine too because I think peak athleticism is important at the DT position if the player is ever to have a shot to be a dominant player. If his arms were just longer he would probably be a day 2 guy, may still be. From all reports I saw Phillips dominated the practices which are much more important. But it’s clear he really doesn’t know how to rush the passer from his time at MD. As you had said in a previous thread, could see either of them getting lots of playing time at 1tech as rookies.

Josh Farmer from FSU has 35 inch arms, Zeek Biggers were also…bigger. Biggers is worth a late round selection because not many people are as big and athletic as him. Farmer reminds me of former Bill Jordan Phillips.

I second the Alfred Collins take, he is great. Some day 3 guys who could fill in at 1Tech: You basically get no pass rush from him, but Maryland’s Jordan Phillips is one of the youngest players in the draft, was awesome at the Shrine Bowl and is a strong MFer. CJ West is another great run defender but won’t get much out of him in the pass rush.

Makes sense. We are going to draft a CB round 1 and again later on. Dane is here for camp and maybe a depth role if he is lucky.

I know, but I also know that Beane drafts for need early and even with a UFA our CB room is probably the thinnest on the team.

Led the nation in tackles AND had 5 INTS (the most of any non secondary player and tied for 4th in the nation). Keep him in Buffao!

yea best signing so far. Lessens the need for an early round DE (aka hopefully an early WR). If we do take a DE as BPA may put Epenesa and his cap savings as a future cut since we already have 5 DEs and Groot, Bosa, Hoecht are all staying and Soloman probably is too.

Unfortunately, I think the Palmer signing pushes WR to day 3 of the draft. The first two days look like DT, CB, and DE in any order.

Welp we are officially to the “maybe with a change of scenery he could be good” portion of the CB market.

I agree, haven’t been a fan of any of the signings today and wouldn’t like that one. But having highlighted these guys weeks ago I wonder if the Cover 1 guys have ingratiated themselves in with someone in the Bills org…but that is just my own conspiracy theory.
