  1. Those nickel and dime posts come from people who live outside of the State mostly. They have no clue what it’s like to live here with this team. pick a QB,period.
  2. It’s Beanes job to figure out who or if there’s a QB that fits. Whatever banter evolves from this board regarding which one is irrelevant. We do not matter. We all have opinions but it’s been quite funny to see the plethora of excuses why we shouldn’t trade up or draft a QB. Im sure someone else will think of another reason that is different from the others. The attempt in changing the minds of those who believe we need a QB is futile. We need a QB. There are no other positions.
  3. Id like to draft Mayfield too,but these teams have spies and they usually know who the other teams might be drafting. The Jets I believe want Mayfield,I believe the Bills do as well. Being at 6 might not do it,being at 4 might not as well. We shall see. The cost wouldn’t be prohibitive,it may be astronomical though. Im going to trust our management team on this one. They would know the value of the QB they desire. Even if it’s Allen. I wouldn’t like it but I have faith in their ability to decipher.
  4. Much, much better. We know what that’s about. Aikman and Bradshaw were mediocre QBs,especially Aikman. That guy was blessed with an all around great team and great coach. He doesn’t deserve accolades of greatness.
  5. This is the longest draft in the history of mankind.
  6. There were a lot of people who thought Leaf was the best QB. Happens all the time and is going to happen in this draft. Hindsight is 20/20. There could be a guy not considered in the top 4 that will go on to have a better career than guys like Darnold/Rosen. Then again, maybe not. It’s a crapshoot we hope the scouts and Beane have nailed.
  7. Doesn’t matter who they like. They are way too far back to move up enough to get Mayfield. Possibly Rudolph, but who cares what he wants. His two late firsts and seconds are nothing like ours. He will draft defense and an O lineman.
  8. That’s why it’s imperative we draft one of these guys. We will forever be stuck in mediocrity until lightning strikes. Get it done Beanie.
  9. People panic because the media makes a big deal out of Bellicheks moves. As if he has this master plan to get ahead of Buffalo. For example, this morning on Good Morning Football, they were going through what the Giants should do at two. They feigned phone calls from Buffalo, the Bills offered a boatload for the pick, then the Pats called and offered Number 43 and Rob Gronkowski. The girl,Kay something or other said she would take the Pats offer. Really? In a realistic world there’s no way the Giants would pass up the Bills deal, but the media is so enamored with BB that it creates nervous tension amongst SOME fans. I would be the least bit worried about the Pats, but that’s me. Further, BB hasn’t done a great job drafting.
  10. Sure, one can make an argument stating there could be other reasons we traded Glenn to move up 9 spots, but you have to see the reality of that trade. You normally do not see swaps with a player to move up weeks before the draft. Its obvious to everyone why Beane opted to move up instead of taking a second rounder for Glenn, because that’s the value. I am in agreement with you on building our lines, just not how we build it.The argument our line was bad doesn’t hold water. I believe it was Pro Football Focus that claimed we had the second best line in the league last year. The stats they used we’re indicative of how a line should be ranked.Tyrod Taylor was a detriment to the line with his one read and take off mentality. This is the year to get a QB. Beanies moves starting with the KC trade last year point towards our attempt. Trading Tyrod is another indicator, add in the Glenn trade as well. We have been through this build the team before the QB comes routine before, it hasn’t worked. We could fill holes with busts in any position, there are no givens when drafting. I’d prefer a 50/50 chance at the most important position on the team, instead of drafting a LB that also has a bust rate. It’s a vicious cycle, build your team first, but by the time you get a QB those picks are ready for raises or they leave for free agency, then back to square one. Our cap for next year is closer to 100 million, this was designed by management for the whole purpose of building that team with your supposed franchise guy in place. Doing it the other way around is difficult because it forces you to find a QB,even if there are none available. This is the year where really good QBs are available, not next year. Is it an absolute guarantee? Hell no, nothing is, but people with knowledge about football say this is a great class,so I defer to them. The time is now. I hope Beanie can get it done,I know he’s trying like hell.
  11. It’s obvious the op wants the Bills to keep all their picks. Why the attempts to persuade those who want to get a QB to change their thoughts? I've almost seen everything here with the arguments not to draft a QB via trade up. Its getting old. You either want to or not. The Bills management will decide, not us.
  12. A thread about having a second favorite team? Everyone must really be bored. I’ve never seen threads like this that have popped up randomly. The topics are extremely juvenile. Theres only one team in the NFL. Second favorites are for young kids.
  13. Put yourself as the Colts GM. They received an ungodly haul to move down two spots. That’s TWO spots not nine. Now they are in position to do one of two things, draft a guy they wanted at three or trade down again and grab another haul from a team like Buffalo. Makes total sense for the Colts and you can’t blame Beane if the Colts didnt want to trade with him at that point in time.
  14. OP, what do you mean by false rise? Theres nothing false about it. The QBs in this class are pretty good. There may be more of a gamble because of contract, but it’s not false. Teams ride with their new player regardless,it’s just a bit easier to move on. GMs get fired for making bad picks so they are not throwing darts at a board. So, you are one that would rather stay at 12 and keep the picks?
  15. What if? I do not see the logic in that trade scenario. They are going QB at 1, The Giants are either taking a QB or trading to a team that needs a QB. The Jets are taking a QB,so they would still get Barkley at 4. Barkley’s a good player but RBs are a dime a dozen in this league. Don’t be surprised to see Barkley drop down the board a little. What happens, happens. If the Bills can make a trade they will. There’s not a whole bunch they can do. The Giants are likely taking a QB anyway. Cleveland will likely stay with their two picks, unless we offer them a huge deal, even then it might not be possible because they have way too many picks this draft. The Broncos are the key here. If they do not want a QB then we may be able to deal with them. If the Broncos take a QB then we are kind of screwed, unless they take Rudolph or Jackson. Indys pick is probably in play as well. There’s little our team can do unless teams are willing to move back, then we have ammo against a trade up against Miami and Arizona. I think we easily win that battle. If by some chance the Giants go to 4,then we might be able to pry that pick from them but I just don’t think it will happen.
  16. Ralph wasn’t complicated, he was cheap when it came to management. I have actually heard him with my own two ears say “I can hire a monkey to do his job, you want to be GM kid?” Looking back he pretty much called me a monkey. My boss and I were meeting with Stew Barber about a charitable event. He walked in and just blurted this out. It was odd but he obviously was pissed off at Barber about something. Barbers face turned beet red. If you look at the history of all the bad management hires you can see how true this claim is. The worst, in my opinion, was Harvey Johnson. Most of you were not even born for that useless GM. That was why the Bills were rarely decent. He did get lucky a couple times. He did hire Chuck Knox, and Chuck brought excitement, while hitting on his drafts. Ralph could never handle the accolades his managers received, and low balled them at contract time, (or when they were deserving of a raise)either forcing them out or terminating them. He hit on Polian luckily. As a first time GM Polian was a cheap hire, no one really knew much about him outside of footballs inner circle. Polian became successful, received accolades, and Ralph let him go with the excuse Polian couldn’t get along with his daughter Linda. That was a true statement but Bill never got along with Ralph’s daughter from the beginning. Actually, Polian didn’t get along with a lot of people. Ralph could never handle someone else’s success on his management team, always believing he was the guy who deserved the credit. It also fit his mindset, which was that anyone could be a GM. That is the main reason why the Bills were always mediocre. Thank god we have owners that check their egos at the door and are not afraid to hire good people. Now we need a QB!
  17. Therein lies the problem with Any Cleveland trade. They will require more picks from 2019 and possibly 2020. Im all for it. We have to do what we have to do to get our guy this year. We will have mucho dinero next year to spend in free agency.
  18. They absolutely must make their move this year. There are no QBs in the college pipeline next year that comes close to the 6 guys this year. Getting one of the top 4 or 5 is paramount. It will be a major disappointment if we are shut out and settle for a second tier guy.
  19. Which first they would give up depends upon your trade partner, and how strong next years draft is projected to be, in comparison to pick 22 this year.
  20. Narrow feet isn’t his biggest issue,it’s his release that causes velocity issues. He also throws an “ugly” ball, which is also caused by his odd release. There’s only a forward wrist flick with no wrist follow through, which is akin to a pitcher throwing a screwball. That is why his ball spins awkwardly and wobbly passes seem to be the norm. That could be a reason his receivers dropped so many passes,or they just suck. Tack on a professional pass rush, with the necessity of quick reads and you’ve got a huge project QB. Can he learn to change all this? Maybe if he has time to throw, but once the bullets start flying he will revert to his comfort zone. I agree,he appears to be a much better passer than Taylor, mostly because he doesn’t have to find throwing lanes as often and will complete his checks. Running for a QB is a last resort and shouldn’t be done often for the obvious health reasons. The Bills are not drafting this kid. They’ll draft Rudolph before Jackson. Pass.
  21. I defer to Brandon Beane until proven otherwise. A vast majority of college QBs are mobile. Watch Mason Rudolph’s stock rise after his pro day, same for Jackson. In any other draft those two guys would be closer to top 10. From what I understand,or understood earlier this year, the Bills were not fans of Rosen due to his intangibles and concurrent concussions. Things are fluid, not static at One Bills Drive so That could have changed. Lamar Jackson is at least 6-2,6-3 and Rudolph is a monster. I’d be ok with either but prefer Rudolph if those top guys are gone, mostly because he’s more of a pocket passer. The comparisons of Tyrod and Jackson are unfair, Jackson’s a more polished QB. Building our lines should be a big priority. I’d draft OL and OL, DL and DL again after getting my QB. The caveat for me is if Ridley falls to 22. My opinions based on not much. What does Beane do. It will be an interesting month filled with knee jerk reactions.
  22. Whats the cost? No one really knows,it’s all assumption based on the Indy trade. The Jets were scared into that trade. We may not trade up because the Giants might want to stay at 2.
