Talking Proud versus the Shout song
dlonce replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hated the Talking Proud commercial. The woman marching or strutting around while singing that silly song,it drove me crazy and at games too. The shout song was much better than TP. The time to retire the Shout song has been way overdue. Ditch that silly train whistle too. -
I don’t believe he’s biased, just my opinion based on the fact he’s pumped a lot of money into the downtown area. Downtown Buffalo is going to be difficult property wise. They would have to apply eminent domain to get the needed property to house a new stadium. These are facts: There are properties with ample area in Lancaster and north of Buffalo to make this work. These properties have been made public previously. The property in Niagara Falls was purchased immediately after Pegula bought the team. The property is useless as it stands but a major investment was made because the developer who purchased has an inside track to State politicians.I believe it’s Howard Millstein. Pegula owns the team but he had a lot of help with securing his bid, through NY politicians. The state wants the stadium near Buffalo, that’s why they helped. It’s never, ever going to Batavia or that Far East of Buffalo.

Now everyone’s a capologist. “Tyrods too expensive” First we have the armchair scouts and GMs and now the “let’s save cap space”crew. Theres likely to not be a market for Tyrod. Tyrods agent during last offseason put feelers out to teams that TT could be available and they had zero interest from any team, that’s why he stayed here. The same will happen this year. Why? Because TT is not a very good QB. Teams know it. If the Bills want Tyrod back he will have to come back at their number, not his. I don’t understand why anyone here cares what Pegula spends on any player with bonus money. Not our money, nor our concern. Cap space will be managed by people who actually know how to.

2018 Trade partners moving up the board
dlonce replied to Tatonka68's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its the wait until next year crowd. This is the year. There are so many armchair scouts, and GMs on this board, critiquing each QB as if they actually know what a good QB looks like. Im also amazed at the guys who say you only trade up for a can’t miss player,as though they happen every year. You know, the Andrew Luck,Peyton Manning’s of college football. Geesh. -
Believe me,it’s not going anywhere near Batavia. The main market isn’t Rochester either,it’s Buffalo, the metro area and Southern Ontario. To the poster who stated Rochester is the second largest market, that would be incorrect. It’s WNY and Ontario. If you include the metro Toronto area then you are looking at one of the largest markets in the NFL. Rochesters a great market for ticket sales, and a great fan base but it’s not the second main market. A move to Batavia could alienate a really large market in Canada and parts of WNY. Believe little what is posted here. Including what I’m posting if you desire. The op will be correct on what was stated regarding the team. If you read exactly what was posted you will see all bases covered. Tyrod getting traded,Tyrod staying, Dennison gone,Dennison staying, the Bills are after Cousins,if not Cousins then Bradford or Kennum or Bridgewater and so on. .If they can’t get any one of those guys they will draft one of Darnold who they really love (publicly stated already) or Rosen or Mayfield. Or Jackson or... Again, all bases covered. It was said he was looking for property near the supposed property of a new stadium, then it turned into being a minor investor within a group that purchased property. Which is it? There might be a restaurant and plaza being built that Thurman Thomas and his group purchased land for but it’s got nothing to do with a football stadium and everything to do with his Batavia Downs venture and belief in Batavia. If Thurman’s telling potential investors the stadium might be built there(wink, wink) then shame on him. Some people have real sources, and those sources are saying the stadium issue is in its infancy, but can progress quickly when they are ready. The leagues pushing him to get moving, and after last Sunday’s game they are pushing again. They are to get a stadium built outside of the snow belt region. If Pegula wants funding from the State he’s going to have to build the stadium as close to Buffalo as possible. It’s politically motivated and earmarked for the economy of Buffalo and Western New York. Any stadium built in remote areas would not be cost effective, there would be monumental costs for infrastructure, sewage, water, electricity, ingress and egress issues, of which will be difficult to raise bonds for. Pegula would have to build the stadium himself and that’s not happening. Those are the real facts, from real sources.

Lol,not too far from there. On a serious note, a developer with ties to many political people had purchased all the land in Niagara Falls near the Seneca Niagara Casino. There’s nothing left to buy. That area is on the short list for a stadium. Its never ever going to be built South of Buffalo. There are traffic issues with any location, especially in downtown Buffalo. There has to be major upgrades to roads and other infrastructure.

Dunkirk Don, you are all over the place with this. Darnold ,Rosen, they want Cousins but would take Teddy and Bradford. Talk about covering your bases. Please stop with this “ I have a source” charade. There is much in your post that is logical assumption, until you start covering all the possible scenarios.

Nice write up. Why couldn’t this LE snowstorm happen last Sunday?

You are right about this. That Miami game wasn’t as important as the upcoming home game. That game last year needed a boatload of help, and even if we win the chances were slim to none to get in. We wouldn’t have gotten in regardless. Very big games coming up. To answer the question, yes last years game was meaningful to a degree, but this is way more meaningful at this point.

Should Mc-Bean Pull a Whale-y of a Deal ??
dlonce replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It will take both firsts this year,a First next year and more draft picks to get into the top 3 for a QB. The value of QBs,especially in a year of a decent crop will be very high. Id take a swing at it. We need a QB big time. -
I don’t doubt B.B. was on the hot seat. You do understand that the coaching community is a brotherhood? They interchange from team to team all the time, they mostly have respect for one another and build up solid friendships. Hating a team is mostly for fans and some players. It just shows us that having the right QB can make a coaches career. BB is a fine defensive coach and still runs his defenses( Patricia is a figure head, that’s why he’s not a head coach somewhere). The offense is Brady’s, as the change in offensive figureheads have never made a difference over the years. BB has been blessed, but he’s smart enough not to tinker with what works.

Or maybe add another draft pick or two to sweeten the pot? Should be an interesting draft. I’m still rooting for the Bills to make it to the playoffs this year. If the Bills want to get a dal done they will get one done by mortgaging the future.
-
People forget the vet QBs that may be available in FA will be going to some QB needy team. Those teams will not be drafting a QB. All things being equal it would be tough for the Bills to get their guy but you have to include the draft capital we have into any discussion. We hold a lot of value for a team that thinks they already have their guy or picked one up in FA. Its possible both our picks could be closer to 10 than 20. At that point we likely hold more value then Denver does, not considering any second rounders,of which we hold more value. Frisco and Indy are in good position right now to be our trading partner.

Bills will win if they DON'T play not to lose.
dlonce replied to JohninMinn.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Are you really a Bills fan or is this what younger fans do? just curious because it’s a way of life here and you watch regardless. I haven’t missed a game in decades, I’ll watch until the end. In order to beat the Pats you have to be aggressive and lucky. I’m waiting for the day some player takes out Brady to end his season and career. I’ve never wished that on anyone, certainly not doing it now but I’m surprised it hasnt happened. -
Imagine Bill Walsh with TB. Perfect West Coast QB. Bill Walsh was one of the greatest coaches of all time. BB is helped by TB. His previous coaching gigs didn’t show his greatness. There are a couple things that make B.B. a really good coach and that his ability to adapt to situations on the fly. He has taken poor defensive showings and turned them into a solid group, regardless of personnel.

Should we take a look at other QB flyers?
dlonce replied to BringBackOrton's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don’t believe so. The Tyrod experiment will be over, and an experienced QB who can actually teach a young guy the trade will be brought in ,likely as a placeholder until our new first round QB is ready. I guess there’s no harm in finding a fourth guy,but not sure what that would accomplish in terms of helping the team. -
This place has always been better, way better than that garbage board. There were mostly casual Bills fans on the BBMB and many of them are here now (you can figure out who they are with their thoughts on who good QBs are)but there are some very knowledgeable Bills fans who made the move here. I shake my head to this date when I think about the asinine arguments of how Peyton Manning was over the hill before going to Denver. The second Manning, and the reasons why he isn’t very good anymore are just as foolish. He will take a mediocre team to the promised land if he’s allowed to leave NY. People, mostly these so called Bills fan,who have no vested interest in our team, know absolutely nothing about what a good QB looks like.
