  1. Don’t really feel like playing this game, but there are only two coaches on that list who impress me at any level — Saleh and Staley. That still doesn’t mean they’ll be successful, since we have seen “it takes a village” — ownership, GM, HC — to create lasting success. Meyer is an interesting case. You can’t question his success at the college level but will it translate/can he adapt to the professional game? Culley is a completely uninspiring hire. It’s reminiscent of the Bills hiring Chan Gailey, but without the assistant or college coaching success. I actually read something from a reporter who said Sirianni is “sort of smart, but not super smart.” Wow, that should get Eagles fans excited. I literally know nothing about Arthur Smith. And finally, Dan Campbell is a joke. He is, quite literally, a caricature of an “old school, hard-nosed” football coach. It’s going to be entertaining to watch.
  2. I’ll take “ridiculously exaggerated opinions” for $1000, Alex.
  3. I’m not worried about Josh breaking down the way Newton has. Josh made huge strides this season in avoiding big hits and protecting his body. He is a weapon in the running game and while (I think) everyone agrees we need a better RB run game, you don’t take that part of Josh’s game away from him.
  4. Here’s the single fact that should have us all sleeping easy — Josh is 24. 24! The way these guys take care of themselves now it’s not ridiculous to think we have our QB for the next 15 years. “The most physically gifted QB in the league” who is only getting better.
  5. 🤣😂 ...and you’ll have a starter.
  6. Nope, nope, and nope. Other than the Olympics in which third place earns a medal, this is an absolutely terrible idea. The injury risk alone makes it a non-starter; there’s a reason why the Pro Bowl always looks like flag football. Who the hell cares whether you finish 3rd or 4th in the NFL?
  7. Teams with upset franchise QBs should be sitting down with those QBs to (a) figure out what they are upset about and (b) fix that issue. You don’t trade away a star in his prime at the most prominent position in sports. The trade “scenario” you mention is absurd.
  8. I know the thread is about what Josh might fetch in light of the Stafford trade, but to me it’s a moot point since it’s franchise suicide to trade a bonafide top 5 QB in the prime of his career. In that regard, I still don’t believe Watson will be traded. The Texans have to find a way to make that work.
  9. True, I should. I just figured that after an entire season and with all of the publicity around this issue people would know better than to type that out on a message board, which is much different than “letting it slip” in conversation. Please accept my apology.
  10. Stafford is a good QB. Glad he didn’t wind up in Indy.
  11. Ok, so I am not a Pettine guy. And I think total yards on defense doesn’t nearly tell the whole story. I think the most predictive defensive statistics are points (obviously), yards per play, 3rd down defense, and red zone defense. Were they top 10 in those? I am leaning more and more towards the notion that you win championships in this league by building an absolute beast on offense and then having a “pretty good” bend-but-don’t-break defense that does well when it counts.
  12. So in one post you contradict yourself. Well done. Pettine has always been overrated. The great Rex Ryan coaching tree. And yes, one horrific call in a crucial situation in the NFC Championship is worth making a big deal over. That was an absolute killer; just as bad, and in an infinitely more important situation, as Greggo’s Cover 0 vs. the Raiders that got him fired.
  13. I feel better about this franchise staying away from the initials “EJ”...
  14. The great thing about the DL signings is that they could all be interpreted as one-year “prove it” deals that are relatively painless to move on from. I have come around to your thinking on Edmunds. I think he has incredible potential as an edge guy, either rushing the passer or dropping into coverage, but he doesn’t have the “wow” factor as a MLB. I think they’re wasting his ability. Davis is not Brown’s replacement, I agree. Different skill sets. This is another deep WR draft; go get another one.
  15. Dude, I was ridiculed by several “experts” around here for simply suggesting that all signs pointed to continued improvement.
  16. Yeah that defensive call at the end of the 1st half was awesome.
  17. Prediction: Josh is going to piss off his agent (and agents in general) by agreeing to a deal that is “barely” market value because he wants to help the team. We are incredibly fortunate to have drafted this young man. It’s unprecedented. He’s a unicorn.
  18. The four Championship teams will all likely play in prime time the first week. I think the OP is spot on that the Bills will visit the winner of the Super Bowl in the Thursday night opener.
  19. @TheFunPolice that’s an interesting proposal. I like it for a couple of Bills-centric reasons: Watson goes to the NFC Houston hasn’t shown they know what they’re doing, and I still think Culley is a Chan Gailey-to-the-Bills type of HC hire.
  20. C’mon, Dave, you’ve been here long enough to know we only bemoan the draft picks we traded away, not the players they became.
  21. When more than half the teams on our schedule don't know who will be playing QB next season I take that as a positive for an early assessment of schedule strength. Of course things will evolve over the next several months; that doesn't really need to be said.
  22. Jesus Christ. 10 pages? Who the hell cares what Whaley says? We all saw a poor coaching effort last Sunday. Move on, people.
  23. I don't see how the Buffalo Bills are a better team by not re-signing McKenzie. Name a guy who takes his place who is better?
  24. And it was! What’s your point?
