What did Fitz say about Whaley at the roast?
White Linen replied to a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sounds like he captured the essence of a roast. It's cruel in a joking way but with some truth in there that gives that - oh my God did he just say that? -

I'm a little disappointed this thread isn't about Kirk Cousins but oh well. Does she think your tractor's sexy, Boyst?

Who is your choice for Bills starting QB in 2018 and why?
White Linen replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You didn't say new era until you were proven wrong. When did the "new era" begin with this height of a QB not mattering? Was it with Brees or Wilson? There's a 10 year gap there between when they began playing. New era - you're adorable. -

This has already been discussed but I'll repeat myself. I forgot Mayfield measured in at the Senior Bowl at just over 6'. Wilson and Brees both have massive hands at 10.25" so they have one number (height) they over came. Rodgers has small hands too but he's a bit taller. I think when you're challenged on two very important physical traits it's something you have to overcome. It's not nothin'. Let's also temper putting Russ Wilson in the same company as Rodgers and Brees - at least not yet, he's got some work to do. I like Josh Allen personally. e·ra ˈirə,ˈerə/a long and distinct period of history with a particular feature or characteristic. I guess I got hung up on knowing exactly what the word means. Era means exactly what I said and actually not how you are trying to define it at all. Don't make things up to make yourself feel better. I never said he cannot succeed - I said he has barriers which is an obstacle. Disadvantage is extremely similar. So there is a difference from what you speak of above but it's not what I said. Lucky for you, if he does fail, there's no way to measure if or how much his height and hand size (which you conveniently, consistently leave out of your posts) contributed. You don't think he'd be considered up there with Rosen and Darnold if he was 6'4"? -

I'm not trying to get you to buy anything but you're just not going to convince me I'm wrong. If Mayfield was 6'4" he'd be the #1 QB on the board and the first QB taken and you know it. I mean I get that you think it's BS but not everyone has to or does. It's a different Era? Wilson was drafted in the 3rd round in this era. This makes absolutely no sense to me. "No one is going to deny that size can create advantages or disadvantages for a QB. HOWEVER, its a complete fallacy and myth to put size as a determining criteria on why a player succeeded or failed when their height falls into the range of successful QB's." No one is going to deny it but it's a complete fallacy and myth? I don't even know what that means. You again dismiss the large portion of my argument so I assume you have no answer. If Mayfield doesn't succeed and the Bills traded 3 first round picks or 2 firsts and a 2nd and/or 3rd - You don't think it'll deserve criticism? How the heck do you know it won't be because he got balls batted down, couldn't see so ran out of the pocket or because his small hands won't allow him to throw an NFL football well enough? Let's sum it up so we don't have to go back and forth. He could end up being great and there's physical challenges that can't be ignored, IMO. You believe he has no physical challenges and either will succeed or not succeed based on factors exclusively outside of physical. I agree to disagree. -
I certainly think this is possible Yolo - just as QB's in the past have expressed their desire not to play for certain teams. Sometimes it's work and other times it hasn't. You'd really need to have some massive leverage though to attempt this. You're also costing yourself about 1.5 million from 1st overall to 2nd - about 3.4 million from 1st overall to 4th - and about 16.5 million from 1st overall to 12th.

I forgot he measured in at just over 6' at the senior bowl but don't even pretend that's not a barrier - it most certainly is. You however completely dismissed 3/4th's of my argument because you got all emotional. Yes, Brees and Wilson are around the same height but they have massive hands at 10.25" and Mayfields are 9.5" - that's also a barrier. The NFL ball from everything I could find is slightly larger - which is why hand size is scrutinized so heavily. There have been players with more height and smaller hands that have succeeded in the NFL but rarely do they have both measurements going against them like Baker. Brees was a second rounder that was dismissed by his drafted team and really only took off as one of the best when he joined the Saints. He's developed into one of the best ever and at his height is an anomaly not an example of many. Wilson was a 3rd round pick who's had 2 excellent years statistically. We'll likely have to give up significant draft picks to move up and get Baker and I think it's foolish with the barriers he'll likely need to overcome. I'd gladly take a shot at him in the 2nd or 3rd round like the NFL comparisons you've provided. I've said it - he might end up being great but he's no doubt a risk. -

He might be the next great QB who the heck knows - but I'm not trading up and giving up multiple picks to draft a 5'11" QB with little bitty hands. He might make it but I don't want to take the risk with him - it's a massive thing to overcome. -

As imperfect as the process is, of course this will be a large part of their determination.

Just hit the quote button on a post and it'll populate the post you're responding to. McD made it to the playoffs with a no name defense and a QB that threw for under 200 yards 8 times - twice under 100 yards - and did not have a 300 yard game. He sent clear messages that if you aren't pulling your weight - you will be gone and he sent some of those players packing. He's a little maniac fireball that's not playing around. He's a demanding coach that the players respect and respond to. We had no business being in the playoffs yet we were there. Let's let this little psycho build the team with players he wants and let his defense win games.

I know you feel it's Jauron 2.0 but I think you're wrong. These guys seem to be on their game. They made some crazy moves and they've paid big time dividends. I think they deserve your benefit of the doubt. How McD got this team of almost no names to play for each other the way they did is pretty amazing. He's won the players over like no coach we've seen in a very very long time. Let's see what they do in the next off season or two before we condemn them back to failing. You seem like a good guy - have fun watching what unfolds. It's just as possible we snagged one heck of a coach and GM - as it is they're backwoods numb nuts.

He had Kelly in his last year and Todd Collins throwing to him in 96 and 97. Then Flutie and Rob Johnson started Moulds emergence. He then had a down year with Van Pelt and Rob Johnson throwing to him then a huge spike with Bledsoe. Then another down year with Bledsoe followed by another good one. The QB matters and if you want WR's to develop you have to get rid of a player like Tyrod.

Trading up with a player during the draft
White Linen replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can trade a player but I highly doubt the player would be forced to report to the new team for them to "check him out". I'd have to think that the player is under no obligation to report earlier than the league rules for the start of the off season.
