I had dinner with a high ranking staff member of the Carolina Panthers Friday. He said Beane is one of the smartest people he's ever been around in his life. He went on to say we're in good hands with him because he's just one of those guys that seems to be a step ahead. According to him, it would surprise no one with the Panthers that knew him if he built a winning team. He called him a beautiful mind and when someone would bring up a point - Beane would have an in depth analysis of the point as if he'd already been working on it for months - but in reality his brain is constantly in overdrive. I found it an extremely interesting conversation.

Of course each team has to identify the guy they like. The thought is this year there's more of them to choose from.

You'll agree that these numbers are skewed by QB's being taken out of draft order to do the enormous importance of the position? Hence teams climb over each other and players with higher grades to get one.

I can't understand how anyone can take this breakdown seriously, in terms of why the numbers look that way and why you shouldn't care.

I totally disagree. Tyrod was talked about as being the next level down to the top QB's coming out that year. The debacle on his pro day, IMO, effected him terribly.
