  1. Austin and San Antonio are 80 miles apart, city center to city center. Austin has Darrel Royal/Texas Memorial stadium, seating capacity 100K already built, with club seating, luxury suites etc. No way Jerrah or McNair will allow a third team in Texas.
  2. The Knox to Allen 2 pt play was very creative, I think McKenzie was involved as well, I know Knox was hurt and not available at the end of the game, but I suspect there are more wrinkles to that red zone scheme. With the mediocrity of the Bills OL, would going with that type of scheme be a better choice. Also would like to see more Davis and Kumerow inside the 10, they are our biggest wideouts, and have the size to high point db's
  3. Once upon a time, The Bills signed an UDFA named Jason Peters. Guy is still playing at age 40, and still ranked among the top 10 tackles in the league. Also Ali Marpet played in college in the Bills back yard, and we drafted Ronald Darby instead of Marpet, who has a ring.
  4. I was at the Music City Miracle. It was between 40 and 45 at game time, "good football weather". The stadium is right by the river, so at that temperature, it's damp and chilly. Josh, Zach, Diggs, Beasley, and Sanders have all played in cold weather, but Henry assuming he's healthy could be a problem for the defense on a really cold day.
  5. Which works out to the following: In 2021 we are 16/29 in the red zone 55.1%. We have tried 15 FG's, 11 in the red zone, [made all 11]. The league average is 62%. So it says that if we were at the league average, so far this season we would have had 2 more touchdowns instead of FG's or stops. Would have been nice if that QB sneak in Nashvile had worked. In the Steelers game we would have had to have 2 FG's convert to TD's.
  6. In today's NFL, neither of these guys would be running backs. With their combination of height, size, and speed, they would be linebackers. who get paid a lot more than most running backs these days. Cookie actually played both defensive tackle and linebacker in the CFL, and also kicked FG's & XP's there and his first season with the Bills. Linebacker franchise tag is $15MM, running back is $9MM.
  7. Anyone here concerned about the Spencer Brown/Ogbah matchup. Ogbah is in a contract year, and is probably the best defensive player on the Fish roster. Since Knox isn't playing, if we keep the TE in on that side, we could have two rookies facing him.
  8. Yes that was a point of controversy. We had a 1st & 10 at the Titan 23. 20 seconds left when we kicked the FG, :16 when it went through the uprights. DeHaven wanted to run a couple of sideline outs, then kick the FG, but Wade with no timeouts overruled him. Yes, should have run the clock to :03 and kicked the FG. I was working in Nashville at the time, and one of our vendors asked me if I wanted tickets, as he was not going to be able to use them.
  9. Brown famously would always get up slowly from the pile, same routine every time, never wanted the D to know if they had hurt him. “Make sure when anyone tackles you he remembers how much it hurts.”
  10. Apparently Christie was overruled by DeHaven. Christie wanted to kick it out of the end zone. However, as I recall we had a lot of defensive injuries late in the game.
  11. We did not have a time out left. Johnson had called a TO at 12:45 of the 4th, Holecek had called one on the field at 2:05, and we took one to ice DelGreco at 1:53 before his FG. I was at the game. Bills were pretty banged up and did not have all of their usual KO return special teamers available.
  12. 12/28/63. Bills hosted Pats in a Playoff. I was 14 yrs old. My "big" Christmas present was tickets. We had Buffalo level snow in the week leading up to the game. Our bleacher seats were formed by pressing a garbage can into the snow. Bills for some reason weren't feeling it that day. Kemp got subbed out for Lamonica, who was equally as bad save a 93 yard TD to "Golden Wheels". Bills had 6 turnovers [4 int's 2 fumbles]. Game was played in 21 degree weather with a wind chill of 9 degrees. Both teams were 7-6-1 and in a playoff to meet the mighty Chargers, who were the class of the league.
  13. Through week 6, Away teams have won 50 games, Home teams 42.
  14. PFF has 40 year old Jason Peters ranked 4th among tackles, I think he used to play for the Bills? Our two tackles are Dawkins ranked 45 of 79 and Brown ranked 56th of 79.
  15. What really sucks is that we shut Henry down on 17 of his 20 rushing attempts. He gained 35 yards on those 17 attempts.
  16. If you eliminate punters, who would hold on FG's and EP's? Could the regular center snap on FG's and EP's? With the ubiquity of shotgun, most Centers are proficient at a 7 yard snap, but is it fast and accurate enough for FG's and EP's. Taiwan Jones who is our "core" special teamer has played 108 snaps this year in 6 games. Reggie Gilliam has more at 136.
  17. On the 76 yard run, he was hit once from the side, by a DB engaged/[?held?] by a blocker. On the 3 yard run Obada whiffed at the 2. [Should he even be playing pff grade is 36.8] On the 13 yard run it was blocked well on the LOS and Hyde tried to tackle from the side after Henry was rolling and was laughably ineffective. No way to stop this guy unless you are squared to him, and prepared to be punished.
  18. I agree, however the average net in the league is 41, so a flip of 40 would be probably be more accurate than 35. Suspect this would lead to more long FG attempts as well, which are more exciting than penalties on kick returns.
  19. Belichick [Cleveland native] told Sports Illustrated that Brown ran a 4.5 40 in pads from a 3 point, [not moving] stance in 1958. Brown was also a great receiver out of the backfield on swings and screens. Cleveland was the Buffalo TV team for the NFL.
  20. Cookie was 6-2 at least 250, never played college ball. Saw him run for 243 yards [5 TD's] in the Rockpile in 1963 on muddy field with puddles. Cookie was also the placekicker at times, and played two ways in Canada. He was bigger than most of the D-Lineman of that era. Jim Brown was a gifted multi-sport athlete, Football, basketball, lacrosse, track & field. Played hoops, lax and ran track at 'cuse. Finished 5th in the 1955 AAU decathlon. Actually had to change the rules in Lacrosse because of him, when he pinned the ball to his chest, impossible to get it away from him.
  21. Being a stats guy, the game essentially came down to two plays, both by Henry. The 76 yard run was a bad Bills defensive set that the Titans exploited. Henry does this a couple of times every year. The 13 yard TD, was just a "I'm gonna do this and you can't stop me". Take those out and the Titans gained 273 yards from scrimmage. Josh's Int and the resulting short field was IMHO a product of our putrid O-Line play. Then there's our total lack of a running game. If you look at the rushing leaders in the NFL, which you need if you hope to control the clock with a lead, they are all [Henry, Chubb, Elliott, Mixon, Taylor] much bigger than Moss and Motor. We need a back that can pound the rock. We had two scores wiped by inopportune penalties. Daboll had a couple creative red zone plays, the Knox pass to Allen, and the Knox TD run that was wiped out by a holding call, but we need more creativity. Our OL and RB's are not dominant in the red zone, yet we have a stable of pass catchers that routinely get open. Why a supposed offensive genius like Daboll cant come up with a decent screen pass option in the red zone is beyond me.
  22. Titans running out of DB's. Put Henry in on Defense?
  23. Steve Levy is a SUNY Oswego grad. Used to be a stringer at Bills games for a LI Radio station when he was in college.
  24. Why don't they just give the defense team the option of taking the ball 50 yards from the line of scrimmage on 4th down. Punts are almost unwatchable these days.
