You have to pick up the 5th year option. Then see if his demands for an extension fit what you do. If not just let him play out year 4 and start negotiations again in year 5.

Week 16 Postgame Thread Bills @ Pats*

This game was awesome. A little bit of a shaky start but the team fired on all cylinders to end the first half and never looked back. -
Meaningless late season games
billsfan89 replied to Bills fan since 87's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Definitely not meaningless as the seeding is important. I think a win tonight clinches a 3 seed. The 3 seed is important because it ensures you avoid KC until the AFCCG. The 2 seed is also still in play which gives you homefield for the first two rounds and against anyone besides KC. But it is nice to have the playoffs and a good seed locked up with 2 games left to go. It feels good to be jockeying for position as to hoping to squeak in or wondering if this team has been eliminated yet. During the drought years by week 16 most seasons this team would have been officially eliminated and we would be hoping to lose out to get a better draft pick. -
If I am to breakdown the weaknesses of each team. Steelers - Can't run the ball and inconsistent offense at times, defense is also a bit banged up. Browns - Defense is inconsistent and the pass offense can be inconsistent. Dolphins - Their offense is vastly limited. Colts - Rivers can struggle at times and their defense can have lapses Ravens - Passing offense can struggle a lot. Titans - Defense has had lapses and their passing offense can be contained. KC - Not many weaknesses here, the team can come out flat at times and their defense is OK at times. The Bills have their weaknesses too. I am still worried about the rushing defense and if John Brown isn't there the offense can be limited if Josh has to be one dimensional against a stronger defense. But outside of KC I don't see a team I am not comfortable against.

No easy outs this year. The 4 possible wildcard teams are difficult outs and the 3 other divisional winners aren't easy outs either. Cleveland can run the ball, they have an elite pass rusher who can take over games, a QB who can put up a big game and a good ST unit. Miami has a vet QB and an offense that while probably the least talented in the AFC playoffs is still a team that boasts one of the best defenses in the league is well coached with a decent ST unit. The Colts have a veteran QB, good defense, good ground game and a good ST unit. The Ravens have an MVP caliber QB, an elite defense and a ground attack that can hurt you along with the best kicker in the league and a Super Bowl winning coach. The divisional winners are good too. KC is the best team in football with a super human QB with one of the best offensive pieces around him, a solid defense and a SB winning coaching staff. The Steelers boast a strong defense, 2 time Super Bowl winning QB, SB winning coach, solid ST unit and an offense that can get it done just enough. The Titans (assuming they win their division) have the best RB in the NFL, a QB who is better than I thought, and are well coached and tough. Luckily the Bills have a top 5 QB, an elite offensive supporting cast, a defense playing at a top 10 level, a highly underrated ST unit and are well coached. This team is insanely loaded and only KC is likely to be favored over them. Go Bills.

I can see NFL Sunday Ticket go to Amazon Prime
billsfan89 replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Amazon would consider having it as part of Prime Video but at an extra cost. I can't see Amazon making the money off of it needed to justify the huge money. 112 million Americans have Amazon Prime, so how many more would go buy Amazon Prime for 130 dollars a year or so just for the NFL? I would imagine some would but the NFL Sunday Ticket contract currently costs about 1.5 billion a year, I currently think that in 2023 when that deal expires it would likely cost Amazon 2 billion a year to get that contract. That would mean that Amazon would likely need to add 14-20 million more Prime subscribers (depending on if they subscribe all year or just for football season) to make the economics work. And with 112 million Americans I think Amazon would probably charge less money than Direct TV as they would likely treat the product as a loss leader to get more people into their ecosystem. But I still think they would need to have a 150 dollar charge for it on top of the Amazon service fee. I would be mighty tempted to sign up for it as I already have Prime from my job so to pay about 10 dollars a game to watch the Bills and get the rest of the NFL is solid value. -
Snacks to be released, get on the phone Beane!

I wonder if Snacks regrets not signing with Miami when they offered him a contract? -
This is Kipers quotes about Ford and Knox. https://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/sports/football/nfl/bills/2019/04/28/buffalo-bills-nfl-draft-team-grades-2019-ed-oliver-cody-ford-singletary-espn-mel-kiper-experts/3605488002/ "He’s a mauler in the run game, and I thought he could go in the top 20 picks. That’s a steal." https://www.buffalobills.com/news/mock-draft-watch-8-0 Knox is one of the most underrated offensive prospects in this class. In this scenario, we're getting help for Josh Allen with Knox and wideout N'Keal Harry at No. 40. (Kiper)
-
Brandon Beane did a lot more than just pick Allen. But I also don't know where the he'll you got that Kiper had Ford a 5th round projection. Kiper had Ford going 14 overall to the Falcons in his final mock and Ford graded among the best available when the Bills picked at pick 38. Kiper also had a 3rd round grade on Knox.

We know McD is a good coach. We don't know if he is an elite coach. We will know that come playoff time. In order for me to feel that McD is an elite coach I want to see this team in the AFCCG. If he can win 2 playoff games and play KC in a tough game and lose that's fine and I really like where this team is headed. If he wins one playoff game and loses in the divisional round then I am still good with him but a bit disappointed. If he loses round one that is an abject failure and I will be questioning his ability to coach in the playoffs. We aren't there yet. So let's just try to get that 2 seed locked down.

I think that's what's going to happen anyway.

49ers sign Josh Rosen
billsfan89 replied to Giuseppe Tognarelli's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was on the Josh hype train within weeks if I remember properly haha if not days. I was very high on Lamar more so than others on this board and that one pre draft analysis appears good so far. I just read so much about Josh's accuracy and how it's so hard to improve accuracy in the pros. But as Mel Kiper Jr said that's just lazy scouting. Kiper who was a big Josh guy was on board with Josh because he understood why he was inaccurate and how that could be fixed at the pro level. -
49ers sign Josh Rosen
billsfan89 replied to Giuseppe Tognarelli's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One of my worst takes ever was that the Bills should have taken Lamar or Rosen. I am glad I am not the one making the decisions for the franchise. But once the Bills made the selection within 2 days I saw why and I was on board. So it was more so a matter of being ill-informed. -
AFC set to dominate NFC for next decade+?
billsfan89 replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Things turn on a dime in football but I do agree that in the NFC the QB situation is bleak. Wilson should dominate the decade or at least the next 7ish years, Rodgers will be a top tier QB for the next 3 to 5 years but his age will become an issue. Beyond that you have Murray who has shown potiental but not exactly proven just yet and not much else in terms of young QB's. Dak and Geoff are "good" QB's but hardly anything dynamic. Unless Hurts or one of the lesser harolded QB's pops off it could be very top heavy in the NFC for the foreseeable future. -
You can hurt your team by getting Covid and spreading it and thus you and other teammates can miss games. In addition you can get the virus be fine yourself but spread it to people more vulnerable. I am sure there are older coaches and older staff on the team that he could literally kill. Also we don't know the long term effects of this virus. Just because you don't die doesn't mean there can't be long term consequences. My mother got the virus in April and she hasn't had the same level of energy since despite not having any underlying health issues and a fairly healthy lifestyle.

Diggs first team all-pro chances?
billsfan89 replied to Sammy Watkins' Rib's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Diggs will get the nod. The storyline is what courts voters. -
Potential for fans in the playoffs....
billsfan89 replied to PirateHookerMD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think considering that this stadium is outdoors and it will be cold (thus people will actually cover their faces) I don't see the harm in letting 7 to 10k fans in. I personally take Covid seriously so I wouldn't recommend this unless I thought it made sense and I think it does and is fairly safe. -
Week 16 NFL Power Rankings
billsfan89 replied to machine gun kelly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Steelers feel like a rock, Saints lost to KC and the Bills have been winning convincingly. Only teams you could justify ahead of the Bills are KC and Green Bay and even Green Bay is debatable. -
If he didn't have attitude issues I think he could at least hang on a few more years as a backup. He has a 1 to 1 TD to INT ratio and a 61% completion percentage in two seasons. On the field he isn't tragic and if he was a good citizen he probably would just be on their bench for another year or two while he has a guaranteed rookie deal. But if you have a bad attitude and you are mediocre then you aren't going to last long in the league. Some team will sign him as a backup in 2021 but odds are if he continues to have a bad attitude he will be cut and then maybe not even be in the league in 2022.
-
Doesn't mean that it wasn't the right thing to do. They lost to Houston because Josh and the offense stalled out in the second half. In a year where only one team has a bye week getting a lot of your starters rested for a week can give you an advantage over 5 other teams who might not have that luxury.
-
Odds are WFT just pays him out his last two seasons by just cutting him and eats the dead cap. I think he then gets signed as a backup and gets cut before his career ends. Unless this kid gets a massive attitude change he is going to be lucky to even be in the league in 2 years. I get the Charlie Sheen motto of you don't pay the girls for sex you pay them to leave, but if you are a young, famous, decent looking millionaire you shouldn't be paying C-list strippers for sex unless you are a massive dork.
