Josh Allen - week THREE report card
billsfan89 replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I will give Josh a B. This game showed off what he still has to work on. Ball security and turnover aversion. He needs to hold onto the ball with two hands, he will have a lot more fumbles lost that could cost this team games if he continues with that sloppy habit. However he did get this team 5 TD's and put together the comeback when it mattered most. Another blatant issue in my opinion was the unsportsmen like conduct penalty which made a bad situation worse. Josh had a good game but it should have been a great game. He has somethings he needs to work on but he is getting there. Hopefully he handles Vegas and this team can get 4-0. -
Fitz picked apart the middle of the defense with Milano and Edumonds out and the defense only gave up 21 points when it counted. The Rams are a great offense and scored twice when the offense put them in a bad position. Yes I think the defense could use some help up the middle but I am not ready to say this defense sucks because of one bad game against a top 5-7 offense in the league with two bad turnovers.

Every team has faults but if the defense can tighten up a bit I think this is as about as complete a team you can have in the salary cap era. -

The Rams will be one of the top 7 offenses if they stay fairly healthy. They have Cupp and Woods along with solid complementary parts like Higbee and Reynolds in the receiving game. They have a good rotation of running backs and have seemingly solved their O-line issues that sank their 2019 season. They also have a good or at least decent defense with the most dynamic defensive player in the league. The Bills made 2 key mistakes one off a bad call (the Kroft INT) and the other a self inflicted mistake (the fumble and penalty) that gave the Rams all they needed to nearly complete a comeback. Good teams win these types of games, the Bills have somethings to figure out on defense and Josh has ball security issues he needs to tighten up. Onto the Raiders. -
I wouldn't say that just yet, the defense was good against the Jets (not saying much but still) and was decent against the Fins (only really let up 21 points as that last TD was garbage time) they let up a lot of points against the Rams who likely will finish as a top 7 offense in the league. And while the rush defense was a concern Josh did hand the Rams two turnovers and put the defense in bad field position. I think the defense needs help up the middle but I think they aren't a glaring weakness. In the middle of last season the rushing defense (with Star in there) was terrible. The only player they added was Lugient who was kind of just a JAG at that point and due to scheme changes the rush defense played a lot better. I am not opposed to brining in another DT to send a message to the others on the roster but this team needs to man up and just execute better.

That's a 50/50 type call, its not an illegitimate type call but it isn't an obvious type call either. If that was called against the Bills the fan in me would be pissed but I also as an objective person can't say that it wasn't something that could have been called either. -

I will say it again and again, great teams find ways to win close games. Yes they should have cruised to a 2 possession victory, yes the defense was not impressive and Josh had some shaky moments. But the Rams are a very good team, they will be a top 10 if not top 5 offense in the league when all is said and done. Their defense is a legit average or better defense and while the game was a home game that doesn't mean what it used to. Overall it was impressive to see Josh take the big moment and win. Yes that call against Davis was a bit of a toss up call (but certainly not a blatant gift) and the INT call that gave the Rams a lot of momentum was bogus but in the end you take a win against a good team. You play a Raiders team that isn't a joke and then a tough Titans team before going into KC. Take the W and push for 4-0. -
Time for Tyler Kroft to step up EDIT: He Did!!!
billsfan89 replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
His issue in my mind was health in 2019, so I never really knew what to think of his on field performance since he was rarely on the field. He certainly should get more snaps and do a split with Knox. I still like Knox long term but he might benefit from less snaps to come along more slowly. -

Kroft had a nice game, there were huge yardage numbers but he got the two TD's and was very active on the field. Man what a crazy game! -

It was solid enough in week 1 and 2 and it tightened up the back end of last season. It was just that weird stretch in the middle of last season it has been an issue along with today. Always frustrating. -

That was me last week, I got a stream (My friends gamepass) that is right on top of the action but it seems like the Twitter of the Bills is either ahead of or on top of the TV feed. -

West coast team going to the east coast will be a popular narrative. But let's not count them out just yet, this team can score. I think if the Bills can finish this game strong and win convincingly it won't assuage all my doubts but it will be good to see them beat an upper mid-level team like the Rams. -

Bills Twitter seems to be ahead of the TV action. Dam I love Josh scoring but it was a bit of a spoiler haha -

That's one of those plays that you just have to hand it to the other team, like a highly contested jump shot that goes in during basketball you just can only do so much sometimes. -
Evaluating trades: Wyatt Teller breaking out
billsfan89 replied to CorkScrewHill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Any team is going to have players that thrive elsewhere but the Bills for once aren't just losing players that develop elsewhere they are losing players at positions that the team isn't lacking in. 10 years ago the Bills would have had a terrible oline and traded Teller who would develop for another team and the Bills fans would be hounding the front office because they could have used help on the oline. Now because the drafting and development has been better the margins of the roster are stronger. -

Another thing is that the Browns have a very good oline coach and they gave Teller a lot of snaps in 2019 where he was inconsistent. There is no guarantee that with this teams coaching and with less playing time he breaks out in the same way. When you have a good team players that are on the margins of your roster will go on to have success elsewhere. -
So many good young qbs in the NFL right now
billsfan89 replied to Whkfc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I haven't seen too much consistency from him. I am putting him in the unproven category right now which to me is right in there with Haskins and Trubisky. Jones is probably the best of the bunch but none of the three have done much in my mind. -

Teller probably wouldn't have gotten the snaps needed here last year to help him develop. Spain was proven and playing well and Mongo was having a good year. The Bills basically got back the pick they spent on him and the Browns developed him in 2019 due to their oline issues and now he is playing well. A case of good timing for the Browns. -

I will believe Jones is better than he is when I see it. It is possible that the Giants have put him in a bad spot but overall I am not too impressed with what I have seen from him. I do not think he can drive the ball downfield needed for a full caliber NFL offense. -
The Rams defense is solid but they aren't top 10 in my opinion. So I do feel confident in Josh and the offenses ability to put up points on a average to below average defense. However I don't know if Josh can put up a big number against an elite defense. The Rams defense will be a good test for Josh, if he can put up a good number against them it will show just how far he has come.

Today in Bills History (2011.09.25)
billsfan89 replied to WhoTom's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember watching that game and being elated but still the Bills had to get 4 picks and toss the ball all over the place on the Pats defense just to walk off with a field goal. It was a great win but it made me realize just how much better the Pats were. However last season while this team lost to the Pats twice it was in a pair of games that could have gone either way. Insane to think that this organization in just 4 short years has put it together to the point where they can legitimately go toe to toe if not be favored over the Pats? -
FO Analysis of Buffalo O-Line
billsfan89 replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The chemistry of the O-line is really noticeable. Dawkins-Spain-Mitch are right back from last year while Ford is continuing to pick up his play more and more. Curious to see where Mongo goes when he gets back. If D.Williams settles in it would be hard to displace him or Ford on the right side. Either way great problem to have.
