  1. Looking at the D-line I can definitely say that DE is a pressing need. As far as DT goes I think getting Star back and dumping Butler would help and maybe the team can get Phillips back to full strength. As far as DE, Murphy is as good as gone and I think they will ask Hughes (barring a better performance the rest of the season) to take a pay cut. I would still want Hughes on the team for one more season as a rotational player and for the locker room but he will have to take a pay cut as he just isn't worth what he is owed next season. I like what Addision has brought as a supplemental pass rusher, he just can't be the sole main pass rusher on the team, he is roughly on pace for 7.5 sacks. The way I look at the D-line next season. Definitely brining back - Ed Oliver, Star, Jefferson, Addision, and AJ Not retained - Butler and Murphy Retained if a pay cut is taken - Hughes Retained but on the bubble - Phillips and Johnson That's about 5 players who are firmly back on the line in some role whereas there are 2-3 more who will be on the bubble or asked to take a pay cut.
  2. Murphy is a JAG rotational player, I am fine with dumping him and giving his snaps to other players or just having the other guys in front of him play more. As far as Phillips I think his injury is hampering him. Phillips was a beast the first 5 games of the season. Once he got hurt the run defense began its horrid stretch of play and I think the two are at least somewhat related last season. I am OK with benching both and promoting/activating other younger players. Phillips might need a week off and Murphy you probably should just cut.
  3. Honestly I think he hasn't recovered from the injury. He was a beast last year before he got hurt.
  4. You just have to hope Butler can anchor the middle
  5. The Bills held Henry to 3.1 yards a carry and the Titans as a team rushed for 4.1 yards (while not badly mostly inflated by Tanny breaking off a few big chunks.) For all that big highlight the Bills defense actually held Henry in check.
  6. Jets going full fire sale not surprising.
  7. On the eyeball test I would actually say the lack of pass rush and poor D-line play is what contributed to the bad defensive stretches. The Miami game was the only game where bad LB play was exposed and that was due to playing two backups there. I think that when the D-line is winning you see much better play from the rest of the defense. The LB play when Milano and Edumonds are in is actually good. Yes Edumonds could hit some holes better but I think that issue gets overstated. Edumonds looked below average last year in the middle of the season when the rush defense was getting gashed due to bad D-line play. Then the D-line plays better and Edumonds looks like an All-Pro. It's on the D-line to improve the play of the defense, they have to win the one on one battles. This team is 20th in sacks and probably around that in other pass rush metrics. I would also say that the run defense is below average as well. Right now this team's most glaring need is a pass rusher. I think against the Raiders and Titans the run defense was pretty effective but the pass rush is holding the LB's and Secondary out to dry. Right now as far as getting more of a pass rush going the guys on the roster are going to have to just improve or there is going to have to be a big time trade to acquire that elite player that can set the tone for the defense.
  8. Honestly I am shocked that the D-line has been at best inconsistent this season. The D-line rolls 9 deep with quality starting players but yet lacks that elite player that could set the tone for the game. I thought Ed Oliver could be that player but he hasn't taken that next step. I have even liked what Addision and Q.Jefferson have brought to the team so it isn't like the new additions are playing worse than Shaq and Phillips were last year. It is just that Oliver hasn't taken that step up, Hughes's age might be catching up to him, Harry's injury might still not have him at 100% and Murphy/AJ are more in line with rotational players at this point. If there is one big addition this team should go out and make I would say it should be at DE. Not sure who would be out there on the trade market but if this team can find a big time pass rusher at DE it could prove to be that final piece this team needs to fix the defense. Yes I am not thrilled about the CB position beyond Tre or the TE position but the CB's outside of Tre are fine if there is a better pass rush and the TE position is masked by having 4 good WR's. Looking at the trade market I would say that Yannick sitting on a bad Minny team with a one year deal is ripe for a trade. I would easily offer Minnesota a 2nd round pick and a 6th for him. The team could trade back Murphy or cut Murphy to ease the cap hit to basically be fairly minimal. Minny would get back the 2nd they paid for him plus a late rounder. Other than Yannick I don't see where a big trade could happen at DE, Aldon Smith could maybe be had cheaper but Dallas sadly is still in their divisional hunt.
  9. I meant more so, if teams want to use artifical turf why isn't there uniformity? I would think turf that is the same everywhere would be uniform.
  10. How does the NFL not have a universal turf? Why are teams allowed to have different types of turf?
  11. If a defense is gearing up to stop downfield throws then Josh has to dink and dunk. If teams are going to respect you deep then you kill them down low. The fact that teams will respect Josh's deep ability so much already shows that the offense is special. In fact if Josh and the offense sees that they are giving them the short stuff early in the game and Josh dinks and dunks his way to TD's and field goals the defense will then adjust to try and clamp down on the shorter stuff and then Josh can kill them in the deep game. If a defense is going to make it easy for you then make it easy.
  12. Brown should help, but it's up to Josh to take what the defense is giving him and Daboll and the staff to make sure he does that.
  13. Bidding probably starts at a 2021 1st.
  14. Factoring out the Titans game (which was a total team loss, the defense gave up 3 TD's on field position of less than 30 yards, the offense didn't score a lot and turned it over.) The bigger issue with this team is defensive consistency. The defense shut down the Jets (as they should) but had a bit of mixed games against the Dolphins and Raiders and then had a horrid game against the Rams. Once again factoring out the Titans game the defense has been fairly mid-level. The offense even with a lackluster TE group has been good, putting up enough points in all of their games. Overall I would say that if there is a big piece to be added via trade I would think it is going to be on the defensive side of the ball. I think for a guy like Knox who has shown flashes of great potential but has a lot of raw growing pains you probably are looking at a three year process. Knox to me should be getting split snaps with Kroft this year and then year three is make or break for him. But in regards to 2020 the pass catching group isn't an issue. They have 4 legit WR's so there isn't a need for Knox/Kroft to be anything more than complementary targets (which I think they are.) The big addition this team needs will likely come on the defensive side.
  15. Hughes in 2019 was good, he was solid against the run and a physical player off the edge getting pressure. He also was the heart and soul of the front 7. But in 2020 he has been fairly invisible. I think maybe age has just gotten ahead of him.
  16. After a loss I definitely avoid the forum day of the game and day after. This forum follows the following pattern after a loss. Day of Game - Everyone needs to be fired, there are no good players on this team, why even bother playing the rest of the season this team should just forfeit the rest of the season? Day After Game - Everything still sucks, this team isn't going anywhere, maybe we should just rebuild? Two Days After the Game - Most things suck but things start to stabilize even if the overall tone of the board is still more negative than it needs to be. Three Days After the Game - Things finally fully stabilize and the proper perspective is given to the game. So I avoid this board day of and day after losses especially bad losses. I can handle the two days later pessimism but things get really ridiculous right after and the day after.
  17. You are correct, he is signing a deal for the rest of the season and hoping to rebuild his value to get a better deal in 2021.
  18. Hoping Mongo can help there, he was a beast run blocker last year. Other than that I think there isn't much out there. O-line is good at pass pro but isn't really mauling in the ground game. Mongo might be able to help a bit.
  19. Bills 31 Titans 21 and it won't be that close as I think the Titans get a garbage time TD.
  20. Was Spain playing poorly? I think LG might be Ford's best position but then why not flex out Spain to RG? From my eye test I am much more impressed with what Spain has done than what Winters has done. Then again with how this team likes to rotate O-line players it might make sense to have Spain just play a bunch of snaps at both.
  21. I look forward to Bell having a great year in 2021 for a functional organization.
  22. Tonight's game is massively important. 5-0 is a nice start but winning tonight would also put the Bills in position to be in a commanding lead for the number one seed (and now the only bye.) If the Bills can beat the Titans they can go into that KC game with a one game lead over all 3 other division leaders and the chance to take a 2 game lead over KC and the tiebreaker over both KC and the Titans. Going 6-0 would put the Bills in a massive position to take the bye with a one game lead over Baltimore (or two games if they were to lose next week) for the one seed and 2 games over KC. But none of that can happen if they don't take care of the Titans tonight. So fatten up get to 5-0 against the Covids.
  23. His numbers aren't huge but he does add something to the offense when he is on the field. He adds one more down the field option that can hurt you if you key off him. His absence could be noticeable.
  24. From 2001-2017 Tyrod was by far the best QB the Bills had and arguably the best they had since Jim Kelly by 2017. Yes for half a season Bledsoe might have had better peak value but he stunk it up the rest of the years he was here. Now that probably says more about the Bills QB position than it does about Tyrod but still Tyrod deserves more love than he gets for what he was able to do. Had Rex and some key injuries in the secondary not ***** a top 5 defense Tyrod would have easily broken the drought in 2015. Tyrod was basically a game manager plus. He could manage a game and make plays with his legs and on his best days he could hurt you down the field a handful of times. Truthfully if he was able to consistently get the ball downfield like he could do sometimes he would have been a consistent winner in the league. But sadly in too many games he was so much more cautious than he should have been. I think fans fell in love with Fitz because the team had fairly low expectation when he was here and the fact that his story and personality appealed to fans.
  25. I could see a team completely out of contention making a trade
