Plausible X/#1 receiver trade candidates — are there any?
BillsShredder83 replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt as far as moving up in 2024, but want to point out there were 3 trades ahead of us. None of them appear to have been moves we could've made, but teams were and are always willing to wheel-n-deal. We DONT know that he wasnt burning up the phones trying to make it happen, very fair. The annoyance has been the lack of attempts in general. Specifically in 2024 we probably should've double dipped, in what was supposed to be incredibly deep class. Its fair to say that class didnt turn out like people thought, but it serves as a microcosm for the mentality we have at the position. Even then, there were guys: Jalen McMillan - late 3rd rounder, REALLY turned a corner at end of last season: "McMillan, a 2024 third round pick (No. 92 overall), had 37 receptions for 461 yards and 8 touchdowns as a rookie. He put up the bulk of those stats down the stretch with 24 receptions for 316 yards over the final 5 games of the regular season — a stretch in which he led the NFL with 7 touchdowns" Troy Franklin in the 4th could still develop into something. 2023: Jayden Reed went in the 2nd, as did Rashee Rice and Marvin Mims. Tank Dell, Josh Downs, Michael Wilson, Tre Tucker in 3rd. Puka, infamously in the 5th. Kayshon Boutte in the 5th. This isnt playing hindsight... it'd be dumb to sit her and say "PUKA!" for any one player... but the body of work, shows their are WR's drafted later to hit on. It's hard to hit on one, which is why with Josh Allen here, you should be taking at least one in the top 4 rounds each year, with a guy on the high end of that when an opportunity presents itself. You have to make it a priority and keep swinging. You can't say "Elite FA's are too expensive. Trades for them are too expensive. By the time we pick in 1st rd, its too late. Why bother taking a guy if it's not a guy in the first 15 picks" I don't fault them for taking Keon, but you also can't get so married to any one guy, that you refuse to keep swinging. -

When do bills return to practice, Mondayor Tuesday?

Stefon Diggs had these same concerns coming out of Minnesota and that didn’t stop the Bills. They still got a solid 4 years production. I feel like Beane thinks he’s gamed the WR system or something because of Josh’s past couple seasons. Sooner or later you need to replenish the talent pool and he’s failed to do that. Even letting critical role players like Hollins slip away to the best division rival. Usually I am all about letting the football guys make the big decisions, but we are seeing even the most obvious things completely unaddressed. Keon Coleman ? Josh Palmer ? These are the boundary receivers you give your MVP QB? At this point, I’d rather put every single dollar into the offensive side of the ball and just try to blow teams out of the water every single week. Hope I can find a few diamonds in the rough on draft day on defense to keep opponents honest. Our late round defenders have been better than our day 1 picks. Sinking all of the money/resources into a defense that’s going to stink regardless and hoping Allen/Cook/Kincaid can carry an entire team is a ticking time bomb. Better to lure top WR talent here w/ money and a top QB. Imagine having Pickens, Davante Adam’s, and/or Cooper Kupp. All WRs who changes one or more teams over the past 2 years that could’ve been had. And all of these teams have a winning record.

I honestly I am on the fence with this one... but lets put it this way, if Beane is bringing in great players (FA Draft) and its McD not getting enough out of them then I wholeheartedly agree... I think there are a couple of examples (Poona Ford, Elam) that are doing fairly well with their teams... others just seem to twist out there... so, I am in chicken egg mode... I just know both of those positions need to be upgraded either by the current occupants or others... Maybe it is ok if Beane brings in a draft guru and McD brings in an elite defensive mind and a better OC... maybe not... but we are certainly gonna see this play out in the pretty short term here...

Who's the Emotional Leader on the Bills ??
HamptonBillsfan replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don’t blame Josh for being a multimedia phenomenon but as a Bills fan a few more performances like the Atlanta game and I will start to question his focus. Now anyone, even the great ones, have bad games with TOs and bad decisions, but watching his body language during that game was concerning. It might be a reaction to the surrounding cast’s inability to make plays or Brady’s futility, but Josh needs to rally the troops when things go south. Two losses to inferior teams is an indictment on Sean and the coaches but we’re used to Josh overcoming anything. Our roster needs to be clicking, because they are ordinary without maximum effort. There are only 5or 6 big time talents on the whole team(Josh, Cook, Oliver, Shakir, Kincaid, Johnson) with an above average O-line. In today’s NFL there are enough teams that can beat any team if the effort, coaching and leadership is not working together. -
UPDATE 2: The week 8 announcers are set! Buffalo gets the B-team of Adam Amin, Greg Olsen and Pam Oliver. It is still unknown of the sideline reporter for Browns-Pats game with Chris Myers and Mark Schlereth

I took that post as the player going out would be for secondary help.. not necessarily a secondary player for us. A Knox type player comes to mind as someone who would rock the locker room but makes all the sense in the world to trade.

Secondary would be incoming, not outgoing. Somebody on the other side of the ball is a candidate to hit the road for secondary help. -

I think TB tries, but they are not fired up.
-
Blah blah blah. To not have a true WR1 to take advantage of Josh's ELITE ARM TALENT, alone, is worthy of dismissal! Everyone eats? Would you rather have a meal that " tides you over" OR a meal that fills you up and completely satisfies you? Josh not having his own Chase & Higgins is unforgivable. How about just one? PLEASE!

Rex Ryan calling for Daboll to be fired on 'Get Up'. First comment on the YouTube video mentioning that an ex-coach who couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag has no place calling for any coach's firing. 😁 -
Happiness is the gap between expectations and reality. The Bills are not winning the SB. The Bills will get stomped by a hot Carolina team. Now I cannot be unhappy.😃
-
I feel good about it. McD has a perfect record the week post-bye and we get the two guys back from suspension

You think our Bills’ superstitions are bad?!

I think most Bills fans would love to have a wife that invested into the success of the Bills. Even better for him because football is actually his job. Sharing passions with your spouse is awesome. 😎 -
Would you trade the Bills roster (except Josh Allen) for Ohio State's.
HOUSE replied to Wiz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Oh sure, I love starting over than waiving half the team Reminds me of the 70s -
There’s no one in the secondary with a name big enough to rock the locker room. Not at this point in time. Since he’s a long tenured Bill and was once an All Pro (I think?) I’d have to say Taron Johnson, although trading him with the amount of responsibilities he has on his plate seems far fetched.
