We’re middle of the pack for dead cap carryover, if I’m not mistaken. Im just not sure what we would do with that $15M if we had it right now? Who is that guy that’s available to be the “missing piece”? Is there a pass rusher or receiver available you want us (or wanted us) to go get? Everywhere else we have guys they’re not paying someone to supplant… they want our starting Safeties to be Rapp & Bishop, they likely want Hairston to win CB2 opposite Benford as CB1. Taron in the slot. They want a healthy year from Milano & Bernard. OL is elite, with promising depth they are high on. We’re not signing a RB or TE. Our QB is Josh Allen. That leaves WR & DL. They identified Palmer as “the guy” rightly or wrongly, we’ll see, and paid him well. They then drafted 2 DL early and another top end of RD4, while signing Bosa when it became apparent Crosby & Garrett weren’t being moved, then gave a multi-year deal to Hoecht and signed Ogunjobi. We’re in a weird situation with precautionary injuries and suspensions on the DL, but are we at a point where we need that 15M to desperately sign a missing piece mercenary edge or a DT? What WR move could we have made if we had that 15M? Yes, it would be great to have that money instead of having to manipulate a contract to free up in-season money, of course … but I guess my point is just what could Beane have done that would’ve put us over the top had he not signed Von? Chandler Jones was the other big fish and he had a whole other series of issues. Now, more than ever, we’ve got to find a way to hit on draft picks. Rams with Von were the only time I can remember in recent memory that a big name was moved (that was in-season) and it paid off. Big names are rarely moved or become available. You’ve got to hit on picks. Although.. I’ll admit.. I’m jealous we didn’t make the move for Derrick Henry. Love Cook, but yeesh.. that’s a move that maybe should’ve been done and could’ve helped us against the Chiefs when the Offense was stagnant early.

So our season depends on a 3rd round rookie outperforming a 6 year vet this regime drafted in the 2nd round? Our defense is going to be really bad, isn’t it?

UPDATE: ISRAEL v IRAN - Ceasefire reached?

Its not a one-sided feeling. Because ultra-orthodox Jewish "settlers" have been displacing and exterminating West Bank Palestinians and stealing their land for decades with the consent of the Israeli government and a series US administration conveniently looking the other way. -

Commanders and WR Terry McLaurin still not close to a new deal
BarleyNY replied to Gregg's topic in The Stadium Wall
He’ll play. He’s due almost $20M this season. He’s not jeopardizing that. I don’t blame him for wanting an extension now and I don’t blame Washington for not giving it to him. His situation is similar to Amari Coopers’ in some ways, but very different in a couple others. Same age, one year left on contract and both wanting an extension. Both teams reluctant to give them one with any real guarantees beyond this season. But Cooper had a vet min salary because the Browns kicked his cap out with a signing bonus conversion. McLauren has been paid a $2.8M roster bonuses and is still due $15.5M in salary, $850k in per game roster bonuses and $250k in incentives. Not many teams can trade for that. Also the Browns were tanking. Washington will be in contention unless something goes off the rails. They aren’t motivated to move him like the Browns were with Cooper. In short, Washington isn’t trading him, it would be nearly impossible for the Bills cap-wise and giving him a big extension would be a huge mistake. -

Oh so that makes them bombing a Catholic Church totally okay! -
I know I'm in the VAST minority here and I understand the tradition behind them...but I absolutely despise the standing bison helmets. Such a boring look IMO. I say, give us a look we haven't seen before. Something fresh. Though based off other teams recent throwbacks I do not have confidence in the production of something new that looks good.

Not one peep from the left about how the barbaric Hezbollah puts their military installations next to hospitals, churched and residential bulldogs. -
It really comes down to the 4th year. A 2nd round pick is not getting released in year 2, so more than 50% is guaranteed (signing bonus + first 2 years). There is probably a very low percentage released before year 3 so with salary escalations and bonuses, realistically around 80% is essentially guaranteed. It's the last 20% that is up for discussion.

As I said, I agree with your conclusion - pass rush is the paramount problem. That's not overstated. You overstate the importance of Reid/Mahomes. The Chiefs are far from the only threat. Building to beat the Chiefs is a mistake. The Bills have to be able to beat the Ravens, beat the Eagles, beat the Rams, and beat whichever other teams emerge. You overstate when you say Josh guarantees 30 points against the Chiefs. You overstate that it's paramount that Jackson outdo Epenesa's numbers. Jackson is not the only possible answer to enhanced pass rush. That's all overstated.

We weren't in a Super Bowl window with Dockery; at that time, no one wanted to come to Buffalo. We had all this cap money but no one to spend it on. When his contract was up, so was his cap hit.

Anyone ever been to San Felipe, Baja, Mexico? My dad offered me a plot there that he isn’t going to use and cost to build (at California code) is very inexpensive compared to the US. I intend to visit this winter, but would welcome any insight. I wouldn’t spend summers there, but it seems like it might be a low key place to chill in winters.

I think this is an interesting way to look at Josh’s greatness. If you were to go team-by-team and plug Josh Allen into their current roster, what would their record be? It’s a little tricky because Josh is highly compensated and a lot of teams couldn’t realistically have him AND their current roster. You get the point though. The Bills roster is pretty average. They have a great OL but otherwise most of the roster is mid. Josh could have 25+ teams as Super Bowl contenders IMO.
