My least favorite Babich tendency is a blitz combined with soft coverage on the back end. Talk about giving the QB an easy answer. What is even the point of blitzing if you're going to make it easy for them to get the ball out quick? Babich frequently talks about how the pass rush and the coverage have to be married together. Take a look in the mirror man, that's your responsibility.

I still think it's too early to say there's a strong chance they miss the playoffs but it is starting to look possible. The only problem is I don't trust any of the other teams in that division either.

Keon's having a nice second year, his stats outside of week 1 aren't eye popping but this teams WR's aren't going to some ups and downs. I think one thing that's underrated about Keon is the blocking he brings in the running game and YAC situations. It's not a glamours thing to be a very strong blocker at WR but it adds value to the team and opens up what they can run playbook wise. I think he will finish pushing 1k yards and 70+ catches with 5-6 TD's on solid but not great efficiency. That's right where this team needs him to be.

Agreed. The Bills made a halftime adjustment where they had Hawes lined up next to Van DeMark on several plays to start the 3rd quarter. I believe they had Knox help out as well. Passpro was a challenge for him. Apparently he did better in run blocking. He’s OT4 so we can’t harp too much on him.

Separation metrics might be one of the dumbest stats out there. Tons of great WR's have terrible separation metrics because they are X WR's who catch passes in tight coverage. Slot WR's and TE's routinely have great separation metrics because they have a two way run with routes and run tons of crossing routes and go in motion. I also had a nice chuckle reading about 2 pages back about how there was no way the offense could continue on like it did last year and here we are 4 weeks in and probably doing even a little better.

So because you don't like the guy you "opening your own eyes" and coming up with out of the blue reasoning (which isn't true) why metrics are wrong? Did you know that Coleman is actually targeted SIGNIFICANTLY more in man than zone (like 14% higher). Furthermore, can you point to more than 2 plays he's made in the NFL where he "just jumps over" guys? I think you need to "open your own eyes" a little bit more and not let your feelings for a draft pick affect your view on the player. Is he the best? Nope... but is he improving? Yes.. is he "just a big guy that jumps over them?" also no. If so, I have not seen it. Maybe I need to "open my own eyes" and REALLLLLLY look for him "just jumping over guys."

I knew this would be unpopular, but I saw the “Bills” helmet this morning getting decorated for this week’s game on FaceBook or something. I feel much better about my position - it’s ugly as hell and not a Buffalo Bills helmet. We have some of the greatest uniforms in sports, and they will be wearing this mess instead. I hope this meets their revenue projections, because there is no other reason to do a thing like this.

You’re the one that said Hurts is “never” in these conversations. Like you’ve now acknowledged, he has been before and I think at 14 to 1, those are good odds to take that chance that the narrative starts to swing back in his favor at some point this season. The points you make about his stats are why he is still 14-1, but if he starts to put together a stronger stretch of play and his team is still winning, he’s going to be in the convo. Even though Philly was 14-3 last year, they weren’t even the 1 seed in the NFC and Saquon put up an unbelievable season. Meanwhile, we all know that Josh and Lamar were putting up record breaking seasons too, and the vote swung enough Josh’s way to win it. Josh is deservedly the favorite right now because the Bills have a really good chance of earning the 1 seed in the AFC and Josh is a stud, but if Philly goes something like 14-3 or better and that includes a win over the Bills with Hurts making some big plays to win that game, the narrative could conceivably move towards Hurts.

I remember watching the game in real time and thinking Brown was having a terrible game in pass pro but still doing well run blocking and then realizing half way through it was VDM. I think his pass protection was OK, but given that the ground game didn't skip a beat (and the All-22 reviews and somewhat smart people reviewing the film say this) I think his run blocking was good. If a swing tackle can give you competent play that's about as good as you can ask for and a true luxury to have even a decent backup tackle when many teams struggle to have two or even one decent tackle. I think largely what made VDM look bad in pass protection was that Brown is usually so good that it probably makes OK play look terrible. Kromer's development factory seems to be working. The only "major" investments in the line cap or draft wise since 2022 have been a late 2nd round pick in Torrence and a upper mid-level free agency signing in McGovern. The rest of the depth and signings have been lower level vets like Edwards (whose plugged in nicely as a starter) or lower level draft picks and UDFA's like Alec Anderson and VDM have been higher end backups/role players while SVPG and Grable are also developing along with Lundt. As I watched the game I thought Brown (and then later realizing it was VDM) was getting beat at RT in pass protection but the ground game was not suffering for the most part. I wonder was VDM bad at pass pro or was he just OK but Brown being so good makes OK pass protection look bad by comparison?
