  1. Past hour
  2. Unfortunately it’s compounded by the fact that most of our LBs are small and light, better suited for a 3-4. Maybe the worst part of not being able to stop the run is that the opponents go on long time-eating drives. The Bills then have less possessions so each one becomes more important to do something with.
  3. You don’t get a tree until you win a Lombardi.
  4. How about a Mike Tomlin tree or a John Harbaugh tree? I am not sure those exist either. The whole concept is sort of stupid given how many times coaches change teams in their career and are influenced by different experiences.
  5. To all the good folks out there who want to fire McD: Tell me what you see in Terry's resume that makes you believe he's going to pick a good successor? Pegs first hired Rex for the Bills. And he's been through Ruff, Rolston, Nolan, Bylsma, Housley, Krueger, Granato, and Ruff again with the Sabres. Unless you count the Bandits, his track record at picking coaches isn't good. McDermott is his best major sports hire so far - in fact, the only one to have a winning record and the only one to reach the playoffs As I posted previously, 11 coaches with winning records were fired in the SB era. Only 2 teams improved after they fired their winning head coach. Only 1 won a Super Bowl. It just doesn't happen a lot. Terry's track record doesn't suggest he'll beat the odds. I trust McD to deliver us a trophy eventually more than I trust Terry to pick a successor who will.
  6. Western New York sleeper assassins , just sayin,
  7. Panthers 31 Bills 20 Bills come out strong initially, winning the toss and taking the ball. However, once the scripted plays run out, the Bills offense flounders. Brady force feeds passes to Cook which eventually leads to a turnover. The Bills start to unravel, and the Panthers put up 250 yards on the ground.
  8. The logic is that they coached on the side that McD is not known to have heavy involvement with. Handed them the keys to the O and let them drive without much interference.
  9. They're just a far superior run organization from top to bottom than we are. McB made a legendary magnificent pick to choose Josh Allen. But unfortunately it was all downhill from there. From yearly injuries to failed fa's to brutal draft picks. There's always something in our way.
  10. No but at least he has a coaching twig that’s gone 11-30 since a fluke playoff appearance
  11. Today
  12. They coached under McDermott so why would they not count under his tree? Belichick, Sean Payton, Tom Coughlin all worked on Bill Parcells's staffs. Are they not part of his tree? I don't know what your requirements would be unless you don't wanna give McDermott credit for his assistant coaches being given other coaching opportunities
  13. I mean, the league has copied the shell defense that is a staple of McD’s defenses. Unfortunately, we don’t have the horses playing safety like we once did, and haven’t shored up other parts of the defense so far either.
  14. Ending a 17 year playoff drought is not changing the game? The Bills have been a heavy hitter in the AFC ever since. I feel like McDermott is an important character in the story of the game. Is his welcome run out ? Maybe, but I don’t doubt for a minute that he wouldn’t have sustained success with another team.
  15. The Xs and Os just haven't come through. There was a small window but we are at the very tail end of the undersized-all-around defensive zone scheme having any kind of success. The pendulum has swung back to bruiser RBs running it roughshod. McD has refused to re-invent and, honestly, I think his tree is going to be pruned & grafted sooner rather than later.
  16. One could argue for McVay, and tho it is early, it has had some measure of success.
  17. You forgot the granddaddy of them all…Walsh.
  18. I've shared on some threads on OTW that I'm on the autism spectrum and with that often comes restricted eating. Even now I have trouble drinking enough water / electrolytes during the day (even landing in the ER 3 times in the past ~ 5 years for severe dehydration -> constipation. And especially when it's just me in the house I frequently miss meals because I just don't remember / feel to eat. I was always a thin kid. That said, after starting on an SSRI for the autistic run-alongs of depression & anxiety, I gained about 20 pounds and am now in about the 190 range at 6'1", which is about in line with a normal healthy body weight. One of the things I think helped during my youth and continues today is that both sides of the fam have always been vegetable gardeners and I would have this pride that I grew these things and my foods list broadened. Green beans, Swiss chard / spinach, cucumbers, tomatoes (I have only recently come around on thin slices in a sandwich without the seeds & goo, but I would always do sauce, which I am doing at present with the last of them from the garden. I have also watched a bunch of well-produced cooking shows, mostly PBS because we never had pay-tv, that taught me how to cook. America's Test Kitchen, Jacques Pepin, Julia Child, and about 10 years ago "A Chef's Life" which was very watchable and entertaining even beyond food. Can I ask what have been the food influences in your family? I can remember that around the time of my mum's pancreatic-area cancer diagnosis, treatment, and her passing it was often a struggle for me to have an appetite. It was just... the thought of anything passing my lips was just revolting. After her death, I had to get Ensure drinks and down a few of those a day just as quick & dirty calories. Also, an elementary->high school classmate had on Facebook a few years ago that her daughter at 8 years old was having early difficulties with ED due to media and peer comments that they had been getting therapy for. Eight! And she's the cutest little kid. So much societal pressure and food information of questionable fact and debate (I mean... even from so-called experts) is zooming around, your head can get pretty wonky from it. Good luck in this journey.
  19. Dungy's win % at Tampa would have been good for 65th all time. That is sort of my point. There are cases, nobody disputes, where a team has changed Head Coach and got over the hump. But having a long ternured coach who is top 15 all time in win percentage but hasn't got over the hump that is pretty much unprecedented. There are arguments to fire McDermott. I am just not persuaded historical precedent is really one of them.
  20. Brady to Penn St. McDaniels to Buffalo. Super Bowl win.
  21. I’d rather have him be a surprise to KC with a lack of game tape.
  22. the big guys not scoring and still getting 4 goals is great, shows the depth is better. great game by Ellis, between him and Lyon its been fun to watch!
  23. Bills 27 Panthers 21 I won't lie I have gone back and forth on this game. There is something that feels different, in a bad way, about this year's annual slump. I worry there is a real possibility the wheels are about to fall off. But ultimately I am placing my faith in this team's ability to bounce back from a rough patch because they've done it every year. I'm still predicting over 20 points for Carolina because we are spotting that amount to any offense that isn't the Jets, and Carolina's run game doesn't give me confidence that this is the week we break that trend. However I expect some simple changes that will help - taking Rapp out of the linep, and more man coverage so our back 7 doesn't have to think as much. On offense I am expecting this week we get back to basics. Brady has his flaws but he isn't stupid and the problems from the last two weeks are plain to see. I predict we'll get back to a run heavy offense, a lot more 12 and 13 personnel, and feed targets to Kincaid assuming he is back and healthy. I think they have seen enough from Coleman and will stop forcing him 1v1 opportunities. I'm hoping we see an intent to pass the ball to Cook but I'll need to see it before I predict it. There are no magical solutions to this team's problems walking through the door this week. Focusing on fundamentals and getting back to basics on both sides of the ball is our best path right now. Not expecting a pretty win but get to 5-2 and then hopefully make a trade before the KC game.
