For all you McDermott haters, who would you want?
Brianmoorman4jesus replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
Our defense is actually horrendous. And it’s because the guy coaching it is running an incredibly predictable outdated scheme -
Maye played rally well, but I have a feeling any competent QB would look like that vs our D yesterday. Receivers open by 5 yards and wide open lanes to scramble to your right make the job pretty simple. When has Josh ever played against a defense that just gave it to him like that? If Josh played against McD's Defensive scheme, he'd put up 40+ by halftime.

Worst part is McD plays them because they are his trusted vets. Rather see a rookie get beat all over the field than Tre ffs. -
The final play to Shakir. Samuel was wide open for easy TD
Einstein replied to MikePJ76's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agreed. The pass was a normal pass that is caught for a first down if he’s not interfered with, The preceding moving around and scrambling, to me, is just normal Josh though. It’s okay - we are all wrong sometimes. Today is your turn. -

It’s pathetic. I don’t know how a Bills fan can still think that. The defense is a joke. The simplest way I can put it is this and I say it all the time ”if we aren’t turning people over, we aren’t stopping them” Thats NOT sustainable. Get STOPS. Other teams do it all the time -

BillzFreak replied to MikePJ76's topic in The Stadium Wall
The defense came out with some juice and the offense looked to just be going through the motions. Honestly it would be nice to see this team put it together on both sides of the ball from the jump in the games going forward. Will that happen probably not but I'm always hopeful. -
Hochuli sucks. His record doing Bills games proves it. 1-6? Are you kidding? I think somebody from the league called him at. halftime and told him to stop doing what he was doing. It got better in the second half, but his calls did cost our team in the first half. We lost the game largely because we turned the ball over. And Drake Maye made some crazy plays under a lot of pressure. But the first half officiating was atrocious.

disagree. Our defense is mid to bad, with maybe two to three players who'd start on other teams. -
The final play to Shakir. Samuel was wide open for easy TD
Alphadawg7 replied to MikePJ76's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think he is calling it a desperation ball because Josh had to run around for what felt like an eternity to be able to get the pass off. The pass its self wasn't a "desperation" hope and pray ball, but the play in itself was in desperation mode scrambling to extend to find something or someplace to go with it. I still believe Allen flat out missed the right read to Samuel from a clean pocket that would have been a TD or close to a TD. -
I am not going to make a big deal about the Refs. Everyone knows they suck don't put yourself in a situation where a call or multiple calls can cost you the game.

Agree about White and Rapp. They are terrible. In fact, I think the secondary as a whole is bottom 5 in the league. Bishop is athletic, but is always a step or two late to the party. Is constantly thinking instead of just reacting, (accept for the pick on the goal line against NO last week). Taron looks like he is aging before our eyes, and really doesn't do much in coverage any longer. And Benford has gone from a strong A type lock down corner to a C+ this season. Doesn't look like the same player. I do want to give props to Shaq Thompson. I think talent wise he is the best Bills defensive player right now. And I would put Bernard right there behind him. And a shout out to Dione Walker also. He will be the leader of our D line by next season with Ed Oliver, if Ed can ever get back on the field. I thought Josh looked fine last night. He made one bad throw on the pick. He was running his ass off, and is elusive enough to give every broken down pass play a chance. Our WR's are just lousy except for Shakir. They don't get open. Finally, kudos to Kincaid. He was a beast last night. He needs at least 10 targets per week. And a thumbs down to the coaching staff. (Except for Special teams.) The team plays with no fire and intensity. And their schemes are lousy and predictable on both sides of the ball. That starts with the coaching staff. No way are they smart enough or creative enough to get us to a Super Bowl. Coaching really does matter.

At the end of the day how many chances are we going to give this guy FFS? Allen’s entire career? That’s insanity. You have had so many chances, so many runs. So many guys have come and gone. It’s not all these players. It’s the guy that hasn’t changed. He’s the problem. What are we going to give the guy 17 tries here? Like cmon. You already had enough shots. Win the Super Bowl this year or let’s see what another guy has. -

My god, do you hear that? It’s Gabe Davis’ music!
GunnerBill replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
The MOMENT Gabe is healthy I am putting him on this roster. He is a better outside receiver than we have. Which is an indicment in itself. Agree. Seem my post in the McDermott thread. He made 12 major moves this offseason. Cook apart the returns right now are dreadful. And this was a major opportunity spring. Some of these moves will restrict opportunities in the next couple of springs. If those moves fail they fall squarely on Brandon Beane. -
I'm starting to think we should blow our wads on a true WR1........our D is and always has been unreliable, we've spent draft after draft trying to compensate for our dismal D to no avail and if McD is such a D guru, then fix the ****ing thing already. At least with a WR1, we should be looking at scoring 30-40 points a game and just be going full throttle on O and letting teams try to play catch-up cause our D ain't getting it done. Might as well focus 100% on our O
-
I think he has a history of getting his teams “up” for games last night. Idk why or what but that same emotional input wont be applied to the Saints.
-
Maye played very well and adapted to a defense that tried to give him different looks. Vrabel won with less in Tennessee. So, not looking forward to Maye getting more and more comfortable. Reminded me more of a Burrow type than Allen...tactician of sorts.

Gunner always defends Frazier/McDermotts scheme, even though it has been figured out for years now, Gunner is a thoughtful poster here and I respect his presence on the forum, but it is my considered opinion that he is mistaken in his thoughts on our defensive scheme and how personnel are used within it, 😁👍 -

Last night was a substandard performance by everyone (except Kincaid in my mind). Coaches, players, probably even the water boys. But they’ll bounce back. -
