Draconator Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago CNN just reported it as the family has released a statement confirming it. Such a tragedy. 1 Quote
US Egg Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Sad. Kind of lost in the legend of Archie Bunker was Reiner’s portrayal of the excellent Mike Stivic character. The real life Reiner shown through in it and the very real issues he brought awareness to playing that role were spot on. He was a legend in his own right. Though many would argue Spinal Tap is his tour-de-force. I know I’d rate it an 11 out of 10. 3 Quote
coloradobillsfan Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago I'd actually put Stand By Me as my favorite of his films. As a youth coming of age around this same time it became a landmark movie for me. And now that I think about the ending of the film, when he was at the computer thinking about how his best friend had died breaking up a fight, even though it's fiction it adds to the poignancy of the moment. RIP Also I rank All in the Family as the most important sitcom of all time. They fearlessly attacked touchy subjects like racism with the satire and ridicule they deserve. 2 1 2 Quote

muppy Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago (edited) I told my daughter of this passing and she mentioned the Princess Bride. It just goes to show his career was many things to different people. I watched Meathead and All in the Family back in the day. But his directing also was legendary what a sick disgusting murder most foul RIP May God comfort those who are mourning. The Jokeman Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago (edited) Great actor but maybe an even better director. Spinal Tap, Stand By Me and Princess Bride touch a place in this Gen X's heart. My blessings to his close friends and family. Edited 10 hours ago by The Jokeman Quote
