  1. If your house is outside the zone of totality, be sure to be inside the zone when the eclipse happens. This is one time when 99.99% won't cut it. That .01% of the sun will still block your ability to see the corona, which is amazing to observe. Good luck! I'm crossing my fingers toes and all other appendages that the clouds will clear for everyone!!
  2. Correct. The closer you are to the center line, the longer the duration of totality.
  3. This was an annular eclipse, not a total eclipse. For those who are close to the path of totality, make the effort to get into the zone of totality. Even 99% doesn't cut it. It will be well worth your trouble!
  4. WhoTom and I often thumbs-upped each other's posts about music, so I know we would have shared spirited conversations beyond just the Bills and Sabres had we ever met at a tailgate (the Einstein portrait in the back reinforces that notion too). RIP Tom, hope you get front row seats to the great gig in the sky, you deserve it
  5. You are allowed to sell the PSL to someone else
  6. The AI producers obviously saved the best audition for last, because Julia Gagnon just completely slayed an Aretha song and that just does not happen by accident. I'll push my chips to the center of the table for her this season.
  7. Be very mindful about how you sleep. I had neck soreness years ago, and even had a doctor at an orthopedic center talk to me about surgery options after my MRI. Long story short it turns out it was due to sleeping on my stomach, which was forcing my neck to either side. Once I weaned myself off this sleeping habit (which I had since I was a kid) the neck pain dissipated and is now completely gone. No surgery needed and problem solved. They never mentioned *anything* to me about watching how I was sleeping in any of my visits to this clinic, they were ready to go the nuclear option way too quickly!
  8. The Sabres sole reason for existence.. is to be a farm team for the rest of the league.
  9. That whole "sole reason for existence" garbage is just so infuriating now. It made me cry at the time - I go back to the 70s and transistor radios with this team. Now it makes me feel like that "sucker" image from the old Bugs Bunny cartoons.
  10. When I lived in KC, someone a few blocks from me was shot in the face for refusing to give a handout to a panhandler at a bus stop. On New Years, there were so many guns firing into the air it sounded like firecrackers. KC can be a pretty dangerous city.
  11. I hear more songs from the 70s in advertising and media than any other decade. Do decades even have tangible 'sounds' anymore?
  12. It will forever now be The Brother Bill Song to me
  13. taunting, fumbling into the end zone, then slicing your hand open on the bench is one heck of a trifecta
  14. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but if that is the scenario wouldn't it be the biggest regular season game in NFL history? I don't believe there has ever been a situation like this before, so much being at stake in one game.
  15. My best friend from college, a Bills fan who regularly read and occasionally posted here in this forum, passed away last month from kidney and liver failure from years of alcohol abuse. Even during a recent hospital stay he was told if he didn't drink any more he still stood a decent shot at living a long life. But he couldn't do it. I'm still coming to terms with losing him - it's particularly hard during Bills games because we watched them together going all the way back to the Super Bowl years. Watching the Bills win these last games since he passed has proven difficult for me - I always want them to win but after each game I'm left with that sinking feeling that he's not here to enjoy them with me and I'm almost scared they will make a big run now. Regardless of whether or not you view alcoholism as a disease, please do what you can to help your friends and family avoid this fate, even if it means having the uncomfortable conversations that I'm wishing now I would have had with him.
  16. I've been jury rigging this on my television for years by muting the center channel of my 5.1 speaker setup. I also have to turn down the bass to avoid muffled voices. It's not a perfect solution by any means, but it does silence the announcers while keeping the crowd noise intact.
  17. I'm ashamed to say this show is one of my guilty pleasures. I have done a pretty good job at determining the winner during the auditions. Last year's winner Iam Tongi was actually quite easy.
  18. Imagine how good he will be when the Bills figure out they can use him in both halves. I'm just kidding, the Bills won't figure that out.
  19. Every time I hear Creed Humphrey's name I get another grey hair
  20. There is increasing evidence that David Gilmour is going to release a new album and tour to support it in 2024. I have traveled to Oakland and Chicago in past years to see him and it was worth every bit of trouble and expense. If you are a Pink Floyd fan and haven't seen David Gilmour in concert, this will likely be your last chance.
  21. The stadium opened in 1973, I don't think that was the construction start date
  22. I'm going to hijack this thread just to mention that Division II Colorado School of Mines quarterback John Matocha is pretty darn good. I just got back from my 4th game of the season, and in every one he has exhibited composure and talent. He recently broke Case Keenum's all time NCAAF record for total touchdowns. CSM hasn't had a player drafted since 1940 (aside from a 9th round kicker in '75) so we're hoping someone will give him a shot
  23. Reports are saying they are checking vehicles entering into Buffalo Niagara Airport for explosives
  24. It really begs the question how much more progression he could make on the field in live action, vs. on the practice field. If it's not demonstrably significant, I'd rather he 'ramps up' on the practice field until he's really ready to contribute.
