  1. Westminster Abbey was my favorite place to visit in all of London, so hopefully it's on your tour
  2. I recommend familysearch dot org because it is free (vs. ancestry dot com which charges). It is run by Church of LDS, who have archived a lot of the old church records. Once I entered a number of my relatives/ancestors, my tree merged with work that others had done which opened up a lot of new information. Only information about deceased relatives is made public.
  3. No disagreement here. I was speaking mainly of the weather/climate - much of the country is in 80s 90s and 100s and that's not exactly conducive to thinking about hockey. But I do have memories, albeit distant now, of WNY when the Sabres made runs for the cup and I know it is electric.
  4. It's nice to have something to watch, but playing hockey basically in summer is kind of ridiculous.
  5. An additional MSG date was added today. I managed to score tix to both Hollywood Bowl shows this morning - I'm beyond stoked as DG has said it is his favorite USA venue, and I've never been to Hollywood. I still see some tickets available via the fan presale code. Hope everyone who wants to go can still get a ticket! General onsale still coming up * UPDATE: A 3rd Hollywood Bowl and a 4th MSG show was just added. Lots of tix still available. PM me if you need the presale code
  6. Many already mentioned so I'll try to dig a little deeper Double Dragon Ikari Warriors Black Tiger Xevious Cabal
  7. Alan Parsons was the lead engineer on DSOTM and was nominated for a Grammy for it.
  8. New David Gilmour album announcement just dropped today. If you are a PF fan, this may be your last chance to see him (there is no information yet about a tour but it is most likely imminent). Travel will probably be required - his recent interviews indicate he is probably done with big tours - but man is it worth it. https://www.neptunepinkfloyd.co.uk/david-gilmours-new-album-official-announcement
  9. If your house is outside the zone of totality, be sure to be inside the zone when the eclipse happens. This is one time when 99.99% won't cut it. That .01% of the sun will still block your ability to see the corona, which is amazing to observe. Good luck! I'm crossing my fingers toes and all other appendages that the clouds will clear for everyone!!
  10. So Maddy was right after all
  11. Correct. The closer you are to the center line, the longer the duration of totality.
  12. This was an annular eclipse, not a total eclipse. For those who are close to the path of totality, make the effort to get into the zone of totality. Even 99% doesn't cut it. It will be well worth your trouble!
  13. WhoTom and I often thumbs-upped each other's posts about music, so I know we would have shared spirited conversations beyond just the Bills and Sabres had we ever met at a tailgate (the Einstein portrait in the back reinforces that notion too). RIP Tom, hope you get front row seats to the great gig in the sky, you deserve it
  14. You are allowed to sell the PSL to someone else
  15. The AI producers obviously saved the best audition for last, because Julia Gagnon just completely slayed an Aretha song and that just does not happen by accident. I'll push my chips to the center of the table for her this season.
  16. Be very mindful about how you sleep. I had neck soreness years ago, and even had a doctor at an orthopedic center talk to me about surgery options after my MRI. Long story short it turns out it was due to sleeping on my stomach, which was forcing my neck to either side. Once I weaned myself off this sleeping habit (which I had since I was a kid) the neck pain dissipated and is now completely gone. No surgery needed and problem solved. They never mentioned *anything* to me about watching how I was sleeping in any of my visits to this clinic, they were ready to go the nuclear option way too quickly!
  17. The Sabres sole reason for existence.. is to be a farm team for the rest of the league.
  18. That whole "sole reason for existence" garbage is just so infuriating now. It made me cry at the time - I go back to the 70s and transistor radios with this team. Now it makes me feel like that "sucker" image from the old Bugs Bunny cartoons.
  19. When I lived in KC, someone a few blocks from me was shot in the face for refusing to give a handout to a panhandler at a bus stop. On New Years, there were so many guns firing into the air it sounded like firecrackers. KC can be a pretty dangerous city.
  20. I hear more songs from the 70s in advertising and media than any other decade. Do decades even have tangible 'sounds' anymore?
  21. It will forever now be The Brother Bill Song to me
  22. taunting, fumbling into the end zone, then slicing your hand open on the bench is one heck of a trifecta
  23. From 6-6 to AFC East Champions that's really something!
  24. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but if that is the scenario wouldn't it be the biggest regular season game in NFL history? I don't believe there has ever been a situation like this before, so much being at stake in one game.
  25. My best friend from college, a Bills fan who regularly read and occasionally posted here in this forum, passed away last month from kidney and liver failure from years of alcohol abuse. Even during a recent hospital stay he was told if he didn't drink any more he still stood a decent shot at living a long life. But he couldn't do it. I'm still coming to terms with losing him - it's particularly hard during Bills games because we watched them together going all the way back to the Super Bowl years. Watching the Bills win these last games since he passed has proven difficult for me - I always want them to win but after each game I'm left with that sinking feeling that he's not here to enjoy them with me and I'm almost scared they will make a big run now. Regardless of whether or not you view alcoholism as a disease, please do what you can to help your friends and family avoid this fate, even if it means having the uncomfortable conversations that I'm wishing now I would have had with him.
