I was travelling when this happened, saw the headlines, knew Diggs was kind of an oddball, etc. but never really read anywhere what the real deal was on this?   Is there any history on reason for Diggs release that is reasonably factual?

There are many here more learned than me.   I’ll start and let them build or tear down.

He is an a**hole who came up small in big moments.

Because he didn't want to be here and made his situation so untenable that the Bills were willing to eat tens of millions in dead cap rather than keep him in the locker room.

Dont let any revisionist history make this guy look like some sort of super try hard leader and winner.  He forced his way out of two different teams because he is a selfish piece of garbage.

No they did not release a memo on letter head that said diggs is actively trying to force his way out by being a pain in the butt to everyone similar to what we watched unfold in minnesota

but I’d think you kind of recognized it happening

Here's an in depth explanation:

There was supposedly a rift behind the scenes with Diggs and Allen(possibly McDermott as well)

I don't blame Beane one bit for trading Diggs...the problem is completely neglecting replacing him with a legitimate #1 receiver since he's been gone

Because he lost a step, still is an excellent wr , and clashed with McDermott over a philosophical shift on offense

He's also weird and undermined Allen on social media

They realised the juice was no longer worth the squeeze

Part of that was him getting older, and maybe a bigger part was Brady being unable to scheme a passing game centred around a WR1 - he saw the future and upped his dickishness - we thought we saw an elite offence that didn't involve a highly paid WR1 - something some people here still believe in it seems

Thankfully we fixed this by concentrating on having 5 or 6 WR4 types and dont have to worry about how to use a WR1

Watching Redzone and seeing multiple different outside receivers so easily ***** the ball out the sky to continue a drive and be in scoring position has become a bittersweet watch - as we wait for Cook to rip a big one or Josh to scramble around on 4th down and fire a laser beam. I can understand all the people who believe it is both working and sustainable all the way to a Superbowl. I certainly don't agree. If Kincaid was an iron man, maybe you could get through with it, but he's not

back on topic - Diggs was and is a dick. We had enough of it.

He had some kind of issue with the team, whether McDermott or Allen, who knows. But you don't trade a guy and take on a 35 million dollar cap hit for schematic differences. There's more to the story that I'm not sure we'll ever know

There is a poster who has some behind the scenes info so if he wants to post it here or PM you he can but I don’t want to put it out there bc it was told in confidence. Anyway he wasn’t cut and we got a 2nd rd pick for him.
