Even last night - I got about a minute of feeling like I had in previous seasons, when Cook broke that run.

Then we missed the XP, and it was like 'that's gonna come back to haunt us.'  Every game is like a trip to the dentist now.

I told my wife the same thing when we missed the extra point and she told me not to be so negative.  We converted the 4th and 27 and I yelled "Holy Sh**! " and woke her up. When Dawkins committed his bonehead penalty I said it sure would be nice to have one more point so we could kick a fg and tie it up.

People invest a lot of emotion in the Bills and sports generally. I do.  If you care, it hurts when they lose.  But if it starts to hurt too much, take a step back, it is supposed to be entertainment not a life-or-death struggle.  It is particularly important to remind yourself of that when you have zero control over the situation.  All the "fire him" stuff may be cathartic, but you have simply no control over who the owner, GM, coaches or players are.  You are stuck with them.  And all the ranting and raving will change nothing.  It is actually kind of funny to read it in a sad sort of way.  All the bitterness and anger.  It's like being in a bad relationship.

Play in fantasy leagues if you want some control.  I own a couple of racehorses and at least I get to choose the breeding for the horse, the trainer, the jockey, I have some control and can take the glory or the blame-- it's on me.  But with the Bills, you are merely a passenger and can do nothing but take the ride.  If it's too bumpy, just take a break until you can participate without undue emotional distress.

Watching the Bills is very stressful because they have issues and it is  impossible to predict how they will play from week to week. Josh and Cook are incredible and the O -line is good and bad depending on the competition. Most games are really closely contested so it becomes edge of your seat nail biters.  Not to many blowouts so you need to control your blood pressure.

I feel like it’s becoming more and more rare than I enjoy watching a Bills game.

Maybe it’s the impending doom feeling that we have a unicorn QB and still find a way to mess it up.

Its the whole history of the team, the coach, the GM…

When they win, I feel relieved. When they lose, I feel devastated.

Any tips? What do you all do to disengage and try to actually enjoy this?

It’s a game.  It should not affect your life this much.  I get high and low during games sure, but once it’s over I don’t let it linger and go on just fine enjoying my wife and kids.  I mean my life doesn’t change if they win or lose a game.  I want them to win as bad as anyone, but if they don’t, whatever.  Even if we win a big game, the euphoria wears off quickly as it again doesn’t impact my life or what’s important in it.  So my tip or advice is change your emotional attachment to the game and just decide it’s not going to impact your life, so whatever.

For example - last night I was yelling plenty at the TV during the game.  I was pissed and annoyed at the outcome.  An hour later it was out of mind, was playing legos with my son and then laying in bed putting my other 1 year old in bed after as I watched season 3 of Tulsa King.

Still enjoy the sports talk and stuff after, good or bad, but my life is great regardless win or lose.

Bills games have always been tough. The Miami drought years, the Superbowl years, the drought years and the Allen years. One heartache after another.

It's entertainment. Hugely important entertainment to a lot of us, but still entertainment. Just because it's stressful doesn't mean it's not fun.

If you aren't having fun during football season as a Bills fan, you should go bandwagon to different teams every week since no team in the NFL looks spectacular right now outside maybe the Rams.

Suck it up or stop watching sports.

Kyle Shanahan has a 77-67 record as HC of the 49ers, he is now in his 9th season as HC of the team.

He has a trip to the super bowl.  preferred by many to regular season wins.

Great perspective here.

I've gotten better in general.  Losses don't linger for me too much - but when we lose a night game, it still impacts my sleep that night.  I kind of get upset w/ myself for that, but it's a process.

I only like watching Josh Allen, Cook and Bishop.

Lost in the loss: My word Cole Bishop is easily the most improved guy on the roster. A year ago he looked like a random fan got lost on the way back to their seat and was just wandering around the secondary.

This year? I have him as our best player on that side of the ball. His hustle is amazing. He either makes the play or is right there when it happens. Is he perfect? Of course not. But he looks like an entirely new player this season.

Honestly, I like many used to let the outcome of the Bills game play way too far into my mental well being. Weeks they lost I was a complete ass. The drought was a fun time to be around me.

My "Come to Jesus" with sports came after 13 seconds. Man, I literally didn't sleep for three days. Got in a real bad mental headspace. Then slowly I would start to see things. Mainly, the players that actually played in that game in Instagram photos, out to dinner all smiles. Heading on nice tropical vacations. Not bothered at all.

That helped me refocus from gameday being all about that dub, to being all about time with my wife, kids, other family and friends that are around. The game is on and I'm still invested...but it's just different now. Once the game ends, my emotional tie to that game ends. I was over last night's loss before the players even exchanged jerseys, did the joint prayer and shook hands.

Bills host zero playoff games final season at high mark

That's actually somewhat poetic considering the overall history of this franchise.

Y'all need therapy, and I'm not kidding or trying to be mean

The Bills are a very good team that is currently a M.A.S.H. unit on defense.  We are 7-4.  We have already beat teams that we will be fighting with for Wild Card spots.  We're getting in.

The Eli Manning Giants got hot and the right time AND lucky AF and got two rings against the GOAT coach/QB combo off of it.

This was a very entertaining game for a neutral observer and the Bills had a chance to win it at the end.  They pulled off a beautiful hook and ladder play to make it possible.  Gabe Davis in-bounds or Dawkins doesn't jump and there's a very good chance of a W.

Take a deep breath, schedule an appointment, and stop basing your happiness/self-worth on how a sports team that you aren't on performs.

You’re completely delusional if you think this team is capable of getting hot in the postseason, when it gets harder. We have based on EPA the highest regression in postseason performance vs regular season performance of any team in a three year period as far back as it registers. The Giants were loaded. They were potentially great teams that just didn’t gel at first. Buffalo does not have a potentially great team with this roster. Not any history of big performance in big games.
