Excellent post, very insightful. I guess you saw something different. You don’t think this guy, who’s been riding on Josh and Cook’s coattails has any pressure on him to make a meaningful acquisition to give us a chance in the playoffs. So far he’s made Bills fans vomit on their sweaters with his inactivity and if we get stiffed you’ll be left with your post.

I get it - our D played a great game and I agree - many players played a part.

Just tough to see we are finally looking great and WHAM, down goes Hoecht. UGH.

you keep missing the point. Everyone who’s poking fun at you is poking fun at you for a specific reason.

you said you saw Beane on TV and he looked shaky.

It’s not about the job he’s done or the trades he’s made or whose coattails he’s riding on or whether or not his acquisitions so far have been meaningful. Me and some others are laughing that you said he physically looked shaky. That’s the wild take.

Up until last week, and especially what happened in the game yesterday, I would have considered S as a target at the deadline.  Not my highest priority, but on the list.  However, after the injury to Hoecht and how well Bishop played, I am not in the market for a S by tomorrow.  There are just too many other holes that are more glaring needs.

Poyer is not great, but his presence seems to have settled the back end of the defense down a bit.  Bishop has gotten better and better every week and yesterday was a coming out party of sorts for him as he showed flashes of the potential he has.  Will he be that great every week at this point?  No.  He's still going to make mistakes and miss tackles from time to time.  But you saw the promise and I am not going to get in the way of that.  And even though Poyer can't keep up physically, he's always lined up properly and helping to get the other guys lined up and get to where they are supposed to be as well.  What's even nicer to see is that Jordan Hancock is starting to get more run in there in certain packages that require more speed and he seems to be showing promise of his own.  You throw Hairston in at CB and how great he has looked in his first 2 outings and I am ready to knock S off the list of priorities and allocating those potential resources to WR, DT, and pass rusher.  I'll live with the growing pains from the kids back there because when they are all working together, the speed and athleticism difference in the secondary has been extremely noticeable watching the last couple games.  They all need to be out there full time and let the kids make their way with Poyer and Tre taking on more of a player/coach role the rest of the way.

Go get a LB that can play fast and physical and rush the passer. Play him the way we were playing 55. There’s no real reason to add a Dlineman. We have so many guys. And I just want the big bodies inside. Get a guy that can stand up at the line and run and make the QB uncomfortable. That’s what 55 was giving us. We don’t need a DT the dude was like a big LB

What they had with Hoect was exactly what led to one of worst performances of mahomes career. Seeing similarities to how phillys dline took over in the superbowl, I dont se why the bills dont make this the main focus after the horrible first 6-7 games defensively

I don’t care how you read my observations, because if you ask 10 people how they interpret facial expressions , you could hear several different takes. My point is I saw a man tensed up with an assignment that will define our season and he’s coming up to a deadline and he’s got is his schwansburger to show for it.

Deadline is tomorrow @ 4:00pm. Bad teams with valuable tradeable assets will run it right up to the deadline unless someone overpays.

The Bills brought in a lot of "physical freaks" on the D-line. Bosa is of course a monster and they took a chance on health there smart gamble. Both Walker and Jackson were monster build guys out the draft, Sanders not so much but Sanders wasn't a smaller guy either. Hoecht was also a "freak" guy with a lot of versatility and he looked to be the part before getting hurt. Larry Ogunjobi while not a freak was a stout plug up the middle vet DT. The Bills front office made it a priority to get bigger and nastier along the D-line both in their 3 major free agent additions and 3 out of their first 4 draft picks.

I think they need another body up front with the loss of Hohect from the season and the major injury to Ed and Sanders. I would look to Arizona if they want to swap a 5th for a 7th or something along those lines for Calais Cambell. Campbell is playing fairly well and while he doesn't offer the full DT/DE/LB versatility Hoecht did he still could line up almost anywhere along the D-line and that would help with that loss and just add another competent body along the D-line.

I still want a WR as the teams top trade deadline need but I'm not gonna act like they don't need a competent vet body either along the D-line.

Per AI:

"A "Schwansburger" is likely a colloquial or informal term for a hamburger patty product sold by the food company Schwan's"

Or a really, really good outside WR.

How did Roseman do adding 3 quality starters over the past 5 days?Sometimes you have to overpay your intended compensation. I don’t want to hear excuses by mesmerized fans who support management’s ineptitude. We don’t add on and these same fans will celebrate going to some home playoff games the last year before the new stadium. This is the greatest fanbase in professional sports. We shouldn’t tolerate management that doesn’t prioritize winning.

First of all, Alexander is not a "quality starter" at this point if the Ravens cast him aside for nothing. And the Eagles not only overpaid for Phillips, but they gave the Fins an option to send the player out of the conference to a team that they only see once every 4 years. Their move to get Carter was really good because it allows them to move DeJean out of the slot, so they strengthened two spots with one move. That was the key move for them. The rest is just activity to say they are doing something.

What the Bills want, by every account, are players that other teams also want. You can't force another team to trade with you. Also, we have the misfortune of having two of the worst teams in the league in the division. The Dolphins and Jets will NEVER trade with us, even if we overpay. This board will melt down sometime over the next 24 hours when the Fins trade Waddle to Pittsburgh or Denver, but Miami could never trade him to us, even for two firsts.

I'm afraid Beane views things much differently than Roseman. One guy views it as we're all in to win with the team we have now. The other not so much, wants to be good every year and in the hunt. And, that's good enough for him. Guess which one is which?

Somewhat differently but I don't see him as content with the roster as evidenced by the trades for Cooper, Douglas, or Hines the last three seasons.  Two thirds isn't chump change.  Beane to me is somewhere between the two extremes of ultra aggressive and ultra conservative.  My guess right now is he's seeing if we can add a DE or WR at the deadline.  I don't expect it to be a major name though.

3 quality starters is quite the embellishment. There's also a serious financial component will all three of these players.

Michael Carter II:

Pro Football Focus ranks Carter as the NFL’s third-worst CB regular this season. Per Pro-Football-Reference, he has been charged with a whopping 19.5 yards per completion and a 109.7 passer rating as the closest defender.

Jaire Alexander:

After seeing injuries keep him out of over half of the past two seasons, Alexander was dealing with a knee issue in Baltimore’s training camp, but he found his way off the injury report in time to debut in Week 1 of the season. Alexander had an extremely poor showing against Josh Allen and the Bills, and the Ravens reacted by making him a healthy scratch for the next three games. He was active again in Baltimore’s Week 5 home blowout at the hands of the Texans and again the following week against the Rams, but he didn’t see the field in Week 6. After the team’s bye week, Alexander was made a healthy inactive for their last two games.

Jaelan Phillips:

Phillips’ base salary for 2025 ($13.25MM) made him one of the more expensive options in terms of finances, even with a portion of that figure already having been paid out. To help facilitate this deal, Miami is taking on money. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports the Dolphins are retaining some of Phillips’ remaining salary in return for a higher draft pick.

If anything quality depth in case of injury to starters
